Abstract

The limited access to formal education experienced by Indonesian migrant children in Malaysia has had a serious impact on their cognitive and spiritual development. These children often lack basic skills such as reading, writing, and arithmetic (Calistung), and receive minimal religious guidance due to their parents' busy work schedules. This study aims to enhance Calistung skills and cultivate the habit of performing Duha prayer through a service-learning approach conducted collaboratively with the Community Learning Center (PKBM) of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. The subjects consisted of ten first-grade students enrolled in non-formal education. The methods employed included participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, pre-tests and post-tests, and visual documentation. The results showed improvements in the ability to recognize letters, copy names, and perform basic arithmetic operations. The children also began to understand and regularly perform Duha prayer without coercion. This activity demonstrates that service learning can be an effective approach to bridging theory and practice in the field, while also strengthening community engagement in alternative education programs. The main contribution of this initiative lies in the integration of basic literacy development and spiritual character formation as a solution to the educational gap faced by Indonesian migrant children abroad.

Abstract

Abstract

This paper examines the epistemic gap between contemporary accounting methods and Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) in the financial reporting of Pesantren, or Islamic boarding schools that operate as nonprofit organizations. Modern standards, such as IFRS, place a strong emphasis on technical compliance and objectivity. However, they frequently overlook the moral and spiritual principles—such as fairness, transparency, and trust—that are fundamental to Islamic responsibility. Fiqh, on the other hand, provides robust normative guidance but lacks the technical tools necessary for consistent reporting and implementation. By proposing an integrative model for financial reporting that balances Shariah-based ethics with modern accounting practices, this study aims to bridge this gap. This study identifies thematic trends, research gaps, and emerging frameworks in Islamic accounting by analyzing peer-reviewed papers and scholarly outputs from international academic databases using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, aided by the bibliometrix R-tool software. The results indicate that, within the context of Islamic educational institutions, there is no operational model that integrates IFRS and AAOIFI criteria. The Islamic Value-Based Accounting System (IVBAS), which emphasizes both legal compliance and spiritual responsibility, is the study's recommendation. This concept has important implications for Islamic economics and nonprofit administration. It provides Pesantren with a fresh approach to establishing Shariah-compliant and transparent reporting procedures, while boosting their credibility and stakeholder trust

Abstract

This misunderstanding regarding the meaning of moderation in religion has implications for the emergence of antipathetic attitudes in society towards caring for halal products, which is only focused on Islamic communities. This has an impact on the phenomenon of the 'basket foreign products' movement, which, in fact, is non-Muslim as if it has become a scourge of 'custom' towards the sacred quality of certified halal products in Indonesia. This bias impacts the performance of retail stores that are committed to providing products that are halal-certified. Even though the construction of a halal guarantee is a 'final thing' and moderated for all groups (including non-Muslims) through concern for halal products as a guarantee that the shop is committed to the halal industrial movement. This urgency requires an assessment and strategy for store performance so that it does not impact the availability of halal products and ensures a competitive advantage for all Muslim and non-Muslim communities in the future. This research was designed with a halal value approach through SOAR Analysis to realize awareness of halal value status and as a competitive advantage for store performance with the principle of moderation. This research hopes to create halal awareness, provide full guarantees, and be able to adapt well and give input to stakeholders

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the participatory transformation approach through the SOAR (Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, Results) framework in improving the quality of the learning process at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Nurul Jannah Sawaran Lor Lumajang. A descriptive qualitative methodology was used, with data collected through active observation, in-depth interviews with madrasah principals, teachers, and students, and document analysis. The SOAR framework is specifically applied to map the madrasah's intrinsic strengths, development opportunities, collective aspirations, and expected outcomes. The research results show that the participatory SOAR analysis successfully mapped existing capabilities and challenges. Primary strengths include the quality of competent teachers and a supportive learning environment—key opportunities identified in digital technology integration and external support. Shared aspirations create an inclusive learning environment and develop graduates who are competitive and possess noble character. Evidence of the resulting transformation includes increased student motivation, engagement, and learning outcomes. The implementation of SOAR facilitates constructive dialogue and asset-centered strategic planning, making it an effective model for Islamic educational innovation.

Abstract

The global trend of the halal business and the halal lifestyle should be supported by suitable policies that align with Islamic economic theory. This concept needs to have maslahah according to sharia maqashid. However, there is also a business plan, known as the Business Model Canvas (BMC), that is universally applicable to all types of enterprises. The purpose of this study is to investigate the halal industry's business structure from a maqashid Syariah standpoint using a canvas business model approach. A qualitative literature review is the methodology employed, with data from numerous research publications pertinent to the study issue. Based on Islamic economics in the halal industry and Maqashid Syariah, including maqashid dharuriyah, hajiyat, and tahsiniat, the research results demonstrate that the BMC conceptual framework includes nine elements: customer segments, value proposition, channels, customer relationships, key resources, key activities, revenue streams, and cost structures. at a practical level.

Abstract

This community service initiative intends to enhance fundamental Quran reading abilities through Iqro' education for migrant youth at the Community Learning Center (PKBM) PNF (National Islamic Education Center) located within the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The impetus for this mentoring program arises from the inadequate literacy proficiency in hijaiyah letters among these children, who predominantly belong to Indonesian Migrant Workers (TKI) families. Employing a descriptive methodology rooted in a service learning framework, the program involves active participation from both educators and pupils throughout the educational experience. The stages of the activity consist of preliminary observation, crafting a lesson plan, conducting Iqro' instruction, and engaging in collective reflection regarding the outcomes of the initiative. Data compilation was carried out via observation, interviews, and documentation, followed by analysis using a descriptive approach coupled with the service learning perspective to illustrate the advancements in skills and transformations in the participants' religious conduct. The findings from the community service project reveal an enhancement in hijaiyah reading competencies, an increased enthusiasm for religious activities among children, and a rise in parental engagement regarding their children’s education. Furthermore, this initiative bolsters religious principles, discipline, and accountability among the participants. Therefore, the Iqro' mentoring program can act as a framework for promoting religious character and religious literacy among children within Indonesian migrant communities overseas

Abstract

Sumberkedawung village, particularly the hamlets of Sempol and Kedungminian, is an agrarian area where shallots constitute the primary commodity and serve as a major driver of the local economy. Despite this potential, the shallot sector has not fully translated into improved farmer welfare due to several persistent challenges, including unstable market prices, limited financial capital, the absence of subsidised fertilisers, insufficient technical assistance from farmer groups and agricultural agencies, and weak post-harvest creative management. This study and community engagement programme employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, comprising several stages: general mapping, thematic mapping, transect walks, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), problem- and objective-tree analyses, and the formulation of community-approved action plans. The principal intervention involved organising a seminar entitled “Creative Economy Development for Shallot Farmers to Improve Community Income in Sumberkedawung Village”, involving farmers and leaders of local farmer groups. The programme successfully encouraged a shift in farmers’ mindsets from relying solely on selling raw produce toward embracing value-added processing and developing high-quality shallot seed enterprises. These initiatives opened new opportunities for more stable and sustainable income generation. By the conclusion of the programme, the community demonstrated enhanced understanding of agricultural management and the potential of creative economic strategies, and formulated recommendations for developing processed shallot-based products as a pathway to improving the socio-economic well-being of farming households.
