Abstract

Terror movements are motivated by psychological, economic, cultural, politics and religious problems. This is a complex problem. But, it becomes more sensitive when religious motivation is involved in it. Nevertheless, terrorism is a human problem that urges all people and the institutions of the state and religions to discover solutions. As in Indonesia, all people are both citizens and members of religions, it is important to realize and get a concrete way against terrorism. What then is the role of religions and the state to overcome the problem of terorrism? How do religions and the state actualize their role against terrorism? Overcoming the problem of terrorism is the first step for developing a peaceful social life. The following step is to promote humanity. However, the state and religions have the same responsibility in educating all people to live universal values such as fraternity, peace, justice, and reciprocal respect and help as way of life.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the types of social media platforms used by proponents and opponents of vaccination. This research employs a qualitative approach, analyzing social media hashtag data with Q-DAS (Qualitative Data Analysis Software) and Nvivo 12Plus. This study finds that: First, social media was used to spread both sides' narratives and content. Second, social media relation tends to be quite strong, but the pro-side is stronger than the contra-side. Third, the narration on both sides uses hashtags and a single word to spread the influence.  They were used for vaccination issues on two sides of the issue.  This research limitation, like this study concentrating exclusively on social media data, excluded digital data like the phenomenon on social media only. The recommendation for the following research is: Try to understand the social movements opposing or promoting vaccination in Indonesia and compare them to other Asian countries. Keywords: vaccine; policy; social media.

Abstract

The idea of building a new capital city is a recent issue that has been widely discussed in Indonesia. To help observe the urgency of these ideas, research results are needed by analyzing several published documents available globally. This helps study the evolution of the discourse of moving the new capital city through research results. This study aims to fill the gap in previous research on moving the State Capital with a bibliometric analysis approach. The bibliometric analysis research method maximizes the analytical tool, namely Vosviewer. This approach explores relocating the National Capital by reviewing publications and research globally, especially in the socio-political field indexed in the Scopus database. This study found 176 most relevant publication documents and was considered influential on other published documents. In line with the discourse on relocating the Indonesian capital, this study finds that the tendency of Indonesian researchers to distribute publication documents is very minimal globally, but the results of this study view that the study of the relocation of the National Capital has the potential to be extensively researched in the future, especially in the socio-political field. Some topics are relevant to be studied, including urbanization, regional development, economic development, political geography, government relocation, modernization, identity construction, state-building, climate change, and others. The contribution of this research becomes a reference for further researchers in determining the position of contributions to the development of more relevant research in the future.

Abstract

In the Regional Head Election of Merauke Regency, there was a contestation between tribes to win the candidate. In this contestation, there was a conflict between ethnic groups, namely the indigenous Papuans and migrants. This study aims to discuss the political struggle of the Merauke Regency to get political support through entities. This study uses an analytical approach to research from several emerging factors such as ethnicity. Data collection was obtained from online media reporting writers, interview websites, and research reports. This study found that identity cannot be separated in the Merauke district, where politics is considered to have its positives and negatives. The positive is to ensure that ethnic immigrants in the Merauke district respect indigenous peoples as owners of territory. The negative is that there is no right to become regent for the immigrant tribes in the Merauke district even though they have fulfilled the requirements as a leader. There are no rules regarding who has the right to lead in special autonomy in the Papua region. This case raises many things related to Papuans in Indonesia in particular.

Abstract

A fundamental change in the government system in Indonesia after the reforms is the implementation of decentralization and real regional autonomy. Giving village funds is a form of fulfilling the village's rights for the implementation of its own autonomy to grow and develop following diversity, participation, autonomy, empowerment, democratization of the community and increasing the role of the village government in order to provide services and improve the welfare of the community in areas that are adrift . Therefore, this study aims to reveal the impact of village fund policies on improving people's welfare and reducing unemployment in Ponggok Village, Tegalrejo Village, and Kalangan Klaten Village. Ponggok village was chosen because it is a pilot village that has managed to manage village funds provided for the welfare of its people. Ponggok Village uses its village funds to provide infrastructure to support the sustainability of Ponggok Tourism Village, conduct training programs, toilets for each house, as well as other assistance that can improve the welfare of its citizens, and the entire community participates in the programs. As a result, the program can significantly reduce unemployment. Tegalrejo Village uses its village funds to improve village infrastructure and train its community. Desa Kalangan uses its village funds to improve village infrastructure, reforestation, training and community development. However, the results of the management of the village fund of the two villages have not been able to improve the economy and reducing unemployment, due to the lack of community participation in the programs being implemented. Keywords: regional autonomy, village funds, community welfare, unemployment

Abstract

Abstract

This article discusses the progressive Islamic movement developed by Muhammadiyah, a modernist Islamic organization established by Ahmad Dahlan on November 18, 1918. History has shown that Muhammadiyah, as a modernist Islamic organization, has instigated various social transformations that continue to affect Indonesian society by creating schools, hospitals, and orphanages that were inspired by modern, Westernized systems and modernist interpretations of the Qur'an. Even today, Muhammadiyah remains active in national activities and discourse, continuously responding to the ever-changing times. This article departs from the argument that the progressive movement developed by Muhammadiyah was translated from Ahmad Dahlan's desire to advance the ummah and to create a just and prosperous world, one that has been blessed by God. As such, it argues that Muhammadiyah's response to the problems of its ummah has been informed by the history of the movement and its founders.

Abstract

Argument in this paper draws upon Habermasian understanding of the distinctionbetween private and public sphere. Public sphere is understood as openspace that various social and cultural forces seek to define and occupy by ways ofrational interests and public reason. Such attempts take place on daily basis andtaken by groups of different backgrounds and interests. Private sphere, in contrast,is conceived of as having domestic or individual characteristics and, moreor less, non-political. It is within this framework that the continuing presence ofmultiple variants of political Islam in Indonesia has been a manifestation of contestationover public sphere. Diverse variants of Indonesian political Islam revealthe difference between actors and issues in the dynamics of their contention. However, evidence makes clear that variants of both political and popular Islamhave been more dominant than other Islamic variants such progressive and neotraditionalistIslam. This study argues that mode of Islamic articulations in Indonesiais now more diverse as the it has developed not only in the articulatoryforms of modernist, revivalist and traditionalist but also progressive, neo-traditionalistand popular Islam.

Abstract

This paper examines Ganjar Pranowo’s political identity through his linguistic features constructed through his speech for responding the case of some of Ungaran citizen’s refusal on accepting a Covid-19 patient’s remain body. The speech is analyzed with Fairclough’s CDA as the main framework of analysis. There are three dialectical stages to complete his framework, namely the text analysis, the interpretation of text analysis, and the explanation. The textual part of the analysis will be explained by using Halliday’s systemic functional linguistics. Meanwhile, the interpretation part will be examined by using Halliday’s appraisal system, and van Dijk’s political discourse analysis will analyze the explanation part. This article states that the interpretation analysis are both ‘judgement’ and ‘appreciation’ from Ganjar shows some degrees of positive polarity and other degrees of opposing polarity. The Ganjar’s political identity represented from his response-speech is humanitarian-oriented, socio-religiously aware, status quo holder, and as a part of the bigger political system’s discourse maker. In this case, response-speech could be selected and in line with the context of society need. Therefore, this article suggests that disaster management should not differentiate community identity on the one hand. The elite also could deliver the policies in a soft statement that is accepted by the public on the other hand.
