Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of clean water availability on the livelihood sustainability of the community in Sikalang Village, Talawi District, Sawahlunto City, as clean water is a vital element affecting public health, economic activities, and social quality. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach using a four-point Likert scale questionnaire distributed online to local residents. The sample consisted of 34 household representatives selected through a purposive sampling technique, with respondents required to be residents who rely on local clean water sources for daily needs. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics through percentage calculations and frequency distribution tabulation to illustrate accessibility patterns, water quality, and community perceptions. The findings show that 76.47% of respondents have adequate access to clean water, although its distribution remains uneven across the village area. Additionally, 70.58% of respondents reported experiencing health problems due to limitations in clean water access, while 88.24% stated that water availability affects their economic productivity. Meanwhile, community awareness of protecting water sources is relatively high, although government supervision of water quality remains limited. These results indicate that clean water management in Sikalang Village is not yet optimal in terms of equity, quality, and sustainability

Abstract

This research aims to deeply examine the lives of miners in Sikalang Village, West Sumatra, and the impact of mining activities on the local community's social, economic, and safety conditions. Sikalang Village is widely known for its generational mining activities, which serve as the main livelihood. While providing significant economic benefits, these activities cause serious problems like occupational safety risks and environmental degradation, leading to barren land. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing in-depth interviews, field observation, and documentation study for data collection. The findings indicate that mining shapes social identity and remains the primary source of income, but former mining areas show high levels of damage, characterized by barren soil. The risk of accidents and the lack of personal protective equipment are major safety concerns. Environmental rehabilitation efforts through Community Service Programs (KKN), such as replanting flowers and greenery, demonstrate a positive impact, with the emergence of new vegetation and increased community awareness. In conclusion, further collaboration among the community, government, and academia is necessary to establish a safe and sustainable mining system in the future

Abstract

The purpose of this activity is to provide understanding and practical skills to Dasa Wisma cadres in utilizing simple technology in the form of barcodes as a tool for plant identification, while also improving the documentation system that was previously carried out manually. The methods of implementing the activity include socialization, technical training on creating and scanning barcodes, as well as field assistance. Data collection techniques are conducted through direct observation during the activity, brief interviews with Dasa Wisma cadres, and documentation of plant data before and after the implementation of barcodes. The data analysis technique used is qualitative descriptive. The results indicated an improvement in the cadres’ ability to digitally identify and document plant data, thereby simplifying the data collection process and accelerating access to plant-related information. The barcode implementation also contributed to more organized, accurate, and easily traceable data. Overall, this program strengthened Dasa Wisma administrative management and encouraged the adoption of simple digital technology in environmental management at the community level. These findings demonstrate that digital-based innovations can be effectively implemented at the village level and have a positive impact on the sustainability of Dasa Wisma management.
