Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels, potentially damaging organs such as blood vessels, kidneys, heart, and nerves. Indonesia ranks fifth globally in diabetes prevalence, with 19.5 million cases. According to the 2023 Indonesia Health Survey (SKI), the national prevalence among individuals aged ≥15 is 2.2%, and 1.9% in North Sumatra. Despite extensive research on risk factors, spatial analysis remains limited. This study aims to map the spatial distribution of diabetes cases and associated risk factors in North Sumatra in 2023. A descriptive quantitative method using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analysis was applied to 39,919 SKI 2023 records. Results identified Medan (28.20%), Deli Serdang (12.97%), and Langkat (8.11%) as areas with very high case rates. Risk factors spatially aligned with case distribution include smoking and physical inactivity. Local governments are encouraged to design area-based interventions targeting modifiable risk factors and strengthen focused diabetes prevention strategies.

Abstract

This study explores the suboptimal competence and work discipline of high school teachers. It aims to understand the meaning, perceptions, experiences, and real practices of teachers related to personality and discipline. A descriptive, qualitative approach was employed, utilizing purposive sampling, with experienced teachers from SMAN 42 East Jakarta. Data were collected through interviews and observations, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicate that personality competence is seen as being a role model through honesty and fairness, while discipline is reflected in a strong sense of responsibility. The primary obstacle is an administrative workload that hampers disciplinary focus, while support is provided through MGMP training and regular character-building programs. The implications underscore the importance of institutional support and policy adjustments in reducing administrative burdens, enabling teachers to focus more effectively on teaching and student character development.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) curriculum at ACS Jakarta and its effectiveness in preparing students for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). With growing demand for international curricula in Indonesia’s Satuan Pendidikan Kerja Sama (SPK) schools, the study evaluates how IGCSE supports academic transition to IBDP. Using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model, qualitative data were collected through interviews with school leaders, teachers, students, alumni, and parents. Findings show that while IGCSE provides strong academic grounding and subject continuity, it does not fully equip students with the research, writing, and independent learning skills required in IBDP. Stakeholders identified the need for better instructional alignment, skill-based scaffolding, and student-centered academic guidance. The study contributes to understanding international curriculum pathways in SPK schools and offers recommendations to strengthen the IGCSE-to-IBDP transition.

Abstract

Background - The implementation of the Independent Curriculum at the elementary school level has become a crucial issue in promoting adaptive, student-centered education. Research Urgency - Despite its nationwide rollout, the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in faith-based elementary schools remains underexplored, particularly in balancing national standards with religious and contextual values. This study is crucial to uncover how such schools adapt the curriculum in practice, providing insights for more inclusive and responsive education policies. Research Objectives - This study aims to describe the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes of the Independent Curriculum at SDIT Insan Mandiri, South Jakarta, while identifying its effectiveness and the challenges encountered. Research Method - Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. Research Findings - The findings reveal that learning plans are tailored to students' potential and needs through the development of contextual teaching modules, including outdoor learning and the use of various media. Curriculum implementation involves innovative activities such as market days and infak collection, which contribute to students' character development and social competence. Evaluation is conducted through Learning Communities and student self-reflection using color-coded cards as indicators of engagement and understanding. Research Conclusion - The study concludes that curriculum implementation aligns with differential, constructivist, and competency-based educational principles, despite technical constraints such as inconsistencies between textbooks and learning objectives and limited time for additional mentoring. Research Novelty/ Contibution - The novelty of this study lies in its participatory evaluation practices based on student self-reflection and collaborative learning communities, which remain underexplored in other elementary-level applications of the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of persuasive communication and school services on customer satisfaction at XYZ Private Elementary School in Jakarta. Using a quantitative approach and survey method, this study involved 116 parents of students through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression. The results of the study indicate that persuasive communication (β = 0.345; p < 0.001) and school services (β = 0.635; p < 0.001) significantly influence customer satisfaction, with a coefficient of determination R² of 0.573. School services contributed effectively by 43.18%, which is greater than persuasive communication at 14.80%. These findings support the theory of Total Quality Management (TQM) and the concept of educational service quality, which emphasizes the importance of synergy between persuasive communication and excellent service. The practical implications of this study encourage schools to implement data-driven communication and service strategies to enhance parental loyalty. This research offers a novel contribution through an integrative approach between communication and service aspects as the foundation for holistic and sustainable management of educational customer satisfaction.
