Abstract

Halal tourism is one of the emerging sectors in the halal industry. The article aims to identify the main problems, solutions, and strategies for developing a model of halal tourism. The qualitative and quantitative approaches are used in this article, including in-depth interviews and expert group discussions with the community leaders, academics, culinary and travel entrepreneurs, local tourism board, hotel entrepreneurs, and tourists representing halal tourism stakeholders. The data was complemented with research questionnaires and compiled using the Analytic Network Process (ANP) method, with Super Decision as a data processing tool. The article provides empirical insights into halal tourism in Indonesia, focusing on the root cause, the outcome of solutions, and the formulation of a future development strategy. Government-related issues remain the main priority, followed by community and halal facilities entrepreneur issues (hotel, travel, and halal food). The results showed that the priority problem in developing halal tourism in Indonesia is infrastructure problems. The solution is to build adequate road infrastructure, repair damaged roads, and complete road direction to halal tourism locations in every region of Indonesia. Halal tourism goals in Indonesia can be realized by implementing a functional synergy between the government and the local community.

Abstract

Computational Thinking (CT) has increasingly been recognized as a foundational competence in STEM education; however, effective pedagogical strategies that support equitable development of CT skills across students with diverse initial abilities remain underexplored. This study examines the impact of interactive programming media on students’ CT development within a STEM learning context. Employing a quasi-experimental design, two groups of upper secondary students participated in either Code.org–supported instruction or conventional learning. Students’ CT skills were assessed before and after the intervention using a CT-oriented problem-solving instrument. The findings indicate that students who engaged with interactive programming activities demonstrated substantially greater improvement in overall CT performance compared to those in conventional learning environments. Moreover, the results suggest that learning gains were largely independent of students’ initial ability levels, indicating an equalizing effect of interactive programming-based instruction. Improvements were observed across core CT components, including decomposition, abstraction, pattern recognition, and algorithmic thinking. These findings contribute to the theoretical discourse on CT pedagogy by highlighting the role of interactive programming environments as mechanisms that mediate learning equity in STEM education. Pedagogically, the study underscores the potential of block-based programming platforms to support inclusive and conceptually grounded CT learning, particularly in contexts characterized by heterogeneous student readiness.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology requires vocational high schools to produce highly competitive graduates. In the Computer and Network Engineering program, Network System Administration (ASJ) is a core subject requiring technical and problem-solving skills through practical learning. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between learning interest and intrinsic motivation with conceptual practice-based learning outcomes in the ASJ subject. A quantitative correlational approach was employed. The sample consisted of 66 eleventh-grade vocational students, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using validated questionnaires and case study-based tests, then analyzed using the Spearman rank correlation due to the non-normal distribution of the data. The findings revealed a weak but significant positive relationship between learning interest and practical learning outcomes (ρ = 0.244, p = 0.048). Conversely, intrinsic motivation showed no significant relationship with learning outcomes (ρ = 0.171, p = 0.170). In conclusion, while learning interest positively contributes to students' conceptual understanding of network practices, it is not the dominant factor. The results imply that practical learning success in vocational education is also heavily influenced by cognitive abilities, instructional strategies, and learning facilities rather than solely by internal affective factors.

Abstract

Flood disasters that struck Langsa City, particularly Matang Seulimeng Village, have led to a logistics crisis and the paralysis of economic activities for the affected communities. This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to provide rapid intervention through emergency food assistance to ensure the food security of residents during the emergency response period. This program was implemented through a strategic collaboration between Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK Charity House) and Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG) as a tangible manifestation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The methods employed include the preparation phase (data verification), the distribution phase (direct door-to-door delivery), and the evaluation phase. The results of the activity indicate that 20 packages of basic food assistance were successfully distributed to the 20 most affected households. This assistance proved capable of meeting the residents' basic nutritional needs during the flood isolation period while providing significant psychosocial support. The conclusion of this activity is that inter-university synergy is highly effective in accelerating humanitarian responses in disaster-prone areas. Suggestions for future activities include the need to develop a more integrated community-based disaster mitigation system to enhance the resilience of coastal communities in the future.
