Abstract

The number of child smokers currently continues to increase. So prevention must be carried out by providing education from an early age. The purpose of this service is to provide education to gain knowledge for the children of Ie Seuum Village, Mesjid Raya District, Aceh Besar Regency, Aceh Province regarding the dangers of smoking and marijuana abuse. The method used is lectures and discussions using PowerPoint slides. The activities carried out include children in Ie Seuum Village gaining knowledge about the dangers of smoking and marijuana abuse including various types of cigarettes and marijuana, the dangerous chemical content of cigarettes and marijuana, chronic diseases caused by smoking and marijuana abuse, and the risk of disability. life and death, and the basis of state and religious laws regarding cigarettes and marijuana. Children responded well to educational activities, understood the material presented, were interested in the pictures displayed, asked questions about the dangers of smoking and marijuana and answered questions from educational presenters.

Abstract

Students’ Misconception in Animalia Kingdom. This study aimed to identify the misconception of Grade X students on the concept of animalia kingdom dan to find out the percentage of the students who had misconceptions. This study is quantitative descriptive research. The research instruments used written tests in the form of open-ended multiple-choice tests using the CRI technique. The sample of this research was the students of Grade X IA1 and X IA5 SMA Abulyatama Aceh. The sample was 62 students. Based on the result, it was found that more students “Understand the Concept” than those who experience “Misconceptions,” the percentage of students who experience misconceptions about the concept of animal diversity is 27% and that is in the “moderate” category. The students experienced partial misconception which caused them unable to justify and express inappropriate arguments. This is reflected in several students’ answers who did not provide the reason for their answer choice and some students misinterpreted the reason. In this research, the students usually experience misconceptions caused by associative thinking. The students use false experiences as conceptions, and inaccurate reasons, and draw conclusions based on what they see

Abstract

Jumlah perokok anak saat ini terus mengalami peningkatan. Sehingga harus dilakukan pencegahan dengan pemberian edukasi sejak dini. Tujuan pengabdian ini yaitu untuk memberikan edukasi guna memperoleh pengetahuan oleh anak-anak Desa Ie Seuum Kecamatan Mesjid Raya Kabupaten Aceh Besar Provinsi Aceh mengenai bahaya merokok dan penyalahgunaan ganja. Metode yang digunakan ceramah dan diskusi dengan menggunakan media slide power point. Kegiatan yang dilakukan yaitu anak-anak di Desa Ie Seuum memperoleh pengetahuan mengenai bahaya merokok dan penyalahgunaan ganja meliputi macam-macam jenis rokok dan ganja, kandungan zat kimia berbahaya rokok dan ganja, penyakit kronis yang ditimbulkan akibat merokok dan penyalahgunaan ganja, dan resiko ancaman cacat seumur hidup dan kematian, dan landasan hukum negara dan agama tentang rokok dan ganja. Anak—anak memiliki respon yang baik terhadap kegiatan edukasi, memahami materi disampaikan, tertarik dengan gambar-gambar ditampilkan, memberikan pertanyaan seputaran bahaya merokok dan ganja dan menjawab pertanyaan-pertanyaan dari pemateri edukasi.

Abstract

Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a significant public health problem in Indonesia, especially among school-age children. Limited knowledge about early symptoms and prevention efforts often leads to delays in medical treatment. Objective: This activity aims to increase students' understanding and awareness at SD Negeri 2 Mata Ie regarding the early symptoms of DHF and preventive measures through the Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) movement. Method: The education implementation uses a promotive-preventive approach with interactive lecture methods, demonstrations of the use of teaching aids, and distribution of information media in the form of leaflets/posters. Evaluation of the activity's success was carried out through pre-tests and post-tests to measure students' level of knowledge before and after the intervention. Results: The results of the activity showed a significant increase in students' understanding of the clinical symptoms of DHF, such as sudden high fever, the appearance of red spots, and joint pain. Students were also able to practice the 3M Plus steps (Draining, Covering, Recycling) independently in the school and home environments. Conclusion: Early health education is effective in shaping students' character to be responsive to DHF symptoms. It is recommended that schools integrate routine mosquito larvae monitoring activities as part of the School Health Unit (UKS) program.
