Abstract

ABSTRACT [Title: Design of Raw Material Warehouse Layout Improvement Using Class-Based Method at PT. Kurabo Manunggal Textile] PT. Kurabo Manunggal Textile is a yarn spinning factory with cotton fiber as the raw material. There are 12 types of raw materials in the raw material warehouse divided into three sub-groups. The transfer of raw materials is carried out by material handling in the form of a forklift. In the initial conditions, the storage of raw materials was carried out randomly. This causes the operator difficulty in taking raw materials. The average warehouse utility is only 37% and material handling time reaches 86.47 hours. Seeing these problems, this research was designed with the aim of improving the layout of the raw material warehouse so that it can minimize the material handling time of raw materials. The improvement design method uses Promodel software and class-based storage by considering the layout of the raw material warehouse and the amount of material handling. Three improvement scenarios are proposed: relocating raw material storage according to the evaluation results using class-based storage, increasing the amount of material handling, and compare the two scenarios. The simulation results show that the third scenario, which is the combination of scenario 1 and scenario 2, was chosen as the best scenario because it has the most significant percentage decrease in material handing time, which is 28.85%, with a simulation time of 61.52 hours

ABSTRACT [Title: Lean Ergonomic Approach to Improvement of Wool Press Process Work Methods] The wool press process is a laundry service activity with the main activity to press clothes using a wool press machine. Activities carried out in a standing position for 8 hours of work. The results of the initial observations indicate that there are ergonomic waste and problems in work methods. The efficiency indicator in this process is the length of working time compared to the available production time and the frequency of transfer to the storage warehouse is very small so there is an iterative process. This study aims to identify the working method of the wool press process with a lean ergonomics approach and provide suggestions for improvement. The methods and approaches used are lean ergonomics, process flow maps, improvement assessment tool questionnaires, and manual handling analysis using the Indikator Kunci-LMM method. The results of the improvement assessment tool show that there is a manual operation process, static posture during work, and the existence of work that is done repeatedly. The identified wastes are transportation and motion waste. Suggestions for improvement are recommended to change the hanger into a wheeled stand hanger, provide seating facilities in the work area. Using chairs can minimize operator fatigue while working with a static posture. The results of the evaluation show that the working time of completing a piece of clothing is reduced from 279 seconds to 268 seconds, the frequency of transfer to the storage warehouse is increased from 6 hangers to 20 hangers for each move, and also reduces repetitive operations.

Abstract

Decision of choosing the right business location will determine the future development of the business itself. Location decision making is not only important in terms of costs and profits but is also one part of a company's strategic planning which is significant in increasing competitive advantage. Via Laundry’s owners has decided to open a new store branch to expand their business as it has been well-operated for 3 years. Business owners have determined several alternatives for this new branch’s location, namely Transpark Djuanda Bekasi, Jakarta Garden City, and Harapan Indah. The purpose of this study will help business owners to better decide preferred location for the new branch by using multi-criteria decision making, which is AHP and TOPSIS combined methods. Determination of criteria and alternatives is carried out based on the results of discussions with experts, namely business owners and their business partners. Experts also assess the importance of each criterion to produce a pairwise comparison matrix. Based on the results of calculations using the AHP method, priority vector values are obtained for the 6 criteria from the highest to the lowest weight, namely population density (0.370), water cleanliness (0.249), rental costs (0.131), land area (0.103), ease of access roads (0.093), and competitiveness level (0.054). Calculation using AHP method generate weight of each criterias which is then used in TOPSIS. By comparing the distance with ideal solution, preference value for each alternative can be obtained, namely 0.3053 for Jakarta Garden City, 0.3624 for Harapan Indah, and 0.8009 for Transpark Djuanda Bekasi. The chosen location recommendation for Via Laundry’s new branch is Transpark Djuanda Bekasi with the highest preference value of 0.8009.

Abstract

Indonesia Coast Guard (IDNCG) is a paramilitary agency in charge of security and safety patrols in Indonesian maritime waters. The research objective is to develop priorities for the development of 35 IDNCG stations are expected to be constructed within 3 years and are considered priority project to face the increasing threats at sea. However, there is presently no system to provide support for the scientific solutions to prioritize station development despite the need for immediate decisions. This research was used to design model for determining station development priorities using the integration method of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), and Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). GIS was used as an effective tool for identifying and taking measurements in certain areas. Meanwhile, multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods such as AHP and TOPSIS provided structural and pairwise quantification, as well as comparisons between elements and criteria for ranking station construction priorities. The most suitable alternative stations to be prioritized were determined by integrating the three methods which were classified as cost-effective for decision-making. Model was based on four criteria, including distance to Archipelagic Sea Lanes (ASL), Distance to the port, vulnerability coverage, and vessel density coverage. Stations were ranked based on a three-year development plan. The location ranking is then expressed in the form of a map to be used by policy makers in determining priorities for developing IDNCG Stations which will have an impact on increasing security and safety in Indonesian waters.

Abstract

Purpose: This research on community involvement aims to provide education regarding waste sorting, training in gradual waste sorting, and processing organic and inorganic waste. Methodology: The method combines a structured process including field observations, comprehensive assistance, outreach on waste processing, discussions, and simple organic and inorganic waste sorting. Results: Before this Community Service Activity (PKM), most residents were already accustomed to sorting waste. However, only a few process it further, where only 22.2% process their waste. This training explains the types of waste, the importance of processing waste, and how to process it. After this activity, residents were enthusiastic and interested in learning to process organic and inorganic waste. After CSA activities, more residents wanted to process waste (organic: 64.3%, inorganic: 92.9%). Conclusions: The PKM successfully raised participants' awareness of the importance of waste processing beyond just sorting. Residents were interested in learning more to apply this practice and contribute to a better environment. This PKM activity needs to continue so that the community can fully implement waste sorting and processing in their surroundings. Limitations: The activities did not provide detailed waste processing practices, so the public still doubts carrying out independent waste processing. Time for activities and discussions with participants is also limited. Contribution: This activity increases residents' awareness about waste sorting and processing. The public is given knowledge about types of waste, how to sort waste, and waste processing to increase community participation in waste management.
