Abstract

The ability of reversible thinking in mathematics has less attention, but most of the mathematical subject is reversible. This type of research was qualitative descriptive which aimed to analyze student’s reversible thinking skills on the graph concept. The subject of research were students of mathematics education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Lampung University taking the graph theory in the academic year 2019/2020. Research subjects were 40 people selected by the total sampling technique. The research data was collected through tests, namely the question of Ramsey number. Data were analyzed descriptively with 3 stages, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results showed that 42.5% of students had reversible thinking skills and 57.5% of students did not have them. Based on the results of this study, it was concluded that most students did not have reversible thinking skills on graph concepts.

Abstract

The problem in this study is related to the less optimal ability to solve students' mathematical problems. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to find out and analyze the average difference in the ability to solve mathematical problems between students who apply the PBL model assisted by worksheets and those who apply the conventional learning model at one of the junior high schools in Tulang Bawang district. This study uses a quasi-experimental method. Samples were taken using the Cluster Random Sampling technique with a lottery procedure. The instrument in this study was an essay test. Hypothesis testing using t-test: prior to testing the hypothesis, prerequisite tests were first carried out, namely the normality test and homogeneity test. From the results of the hypothesis testing, it can be concluded that the application of the PBL model with the help of student worksheets can improve students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. Worksheets made with PBL syntax can facilitate and improve students' problem-solving abilities. This can be seen in the increase in the average value of the class that applies the PBL model

Abstract

Background: Many students experience difficulties in understanding mathematical concepts, which negatively impacts their learning outcomes. Integrating interactive learning media with the Jigsaw learning model offers a potential solution by encouraging collaborative learning and increasing student engagement through dynamic and visual content.Aims: This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of interactive learning media integrated with the Jigsaw learning model to improve students’ understanding of mathematical concepts in the classroom. Methods: The research employed a Research and Development (R and D) approach using the ADDIE model. The population consisted of 531 ninth-grade students, with a randomly selected sample of 58 students 25 in the experimental group and 33 in the control group. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, expert validation, and concept understanding tests, and analyzed using validation analysis, practicality analysis, normality tests, homogeneity tests, t tests, and hypothesis testing.Result: The developed media achieved a material validity score of 84% and a practicality score of 82%. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference between the control and experimental groups (p same with 0.00), indicating the media's effectiveness in improving students’ conceptual understanding. Conclusion: Integrating interactive media with the Jigsaw model enhances students’ comprehension of mathematical concepts by addressing common challenges in collaborative learning. This approach offers practical implications for improving instructional practices and supports the integration of technology in mathematics education.

Abstract

Mastery of mathematics is essential for developing critical thinking skills; however, many students still struggle in this area. This study evaluated the effectiveness of Android-based interactive multimedia, MatHub: Pattern8 Edition, in enhancing critical thinking within PjBL using a STEM approach. The research took place at SMP Negeri 4 Bandar Lampung in the 2024/2025 academic year, employing a quantitative approach with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Using cluster random sampling, class VIIIC with 32 students was assigned as the experimental group, while class VIIIF with 33 students served as the control group. Data collection techniques included questionnaires, interviews, critical thinking assessments, observation checklists, and supporting documentation. The results showed a significant improvement in critical thinking skills among students using MatHub compared to those applying discovery learning without multimedia. Overall, integrating MatHub in PjBL-STEM improved learning quality, motivation, and student participation, offering an effective alternative for enhancing mathematical thinking

Abstract

Abstract

Mathematical communication ability is the skill of conveying mathematical thinking expressed in various forms of representation such as narratives, images, diagrams, videos, sounds and other media. Alqurun Teaching Model is an innovation in education in the form of a learning model that is designed to encourage students to improve their mathematical abilities, one of which is mathematical communication ability. The study aims to measure the difference in mathematical communication skills of students taught with Alqurun Teaching Model and conventional models. This research is a quantitative research with postest only control group design. Data were collected through tests designed to measure mathematical communication skills, then the results were analyzed using independent sample t-test. The sample involved was 85 students who were divided into two research groups, namely control and experimental classes. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique where the sample was selectively chosen based on certain criteria, namely the same level of communication skills and facilitated with the same teacher and has a stable cognitive development so that it can interpret its mathematical ideas. The results showed that the mathematical communication skills of students subjected to the Alqurun Teaching Model were significantly superior to students subjected to conventional models.
