Abstract

The implementation of innovative learning patterns in Elementary School 24 Banda Aceh is an effort to improve the quality of basic education through Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Game-Based Learning methods. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through classroom observations and in-depth interviews with teachers. The results of the study indicate that this innovative method has succeeded in increasing student engagement and motivation by making learning more interactive and fun. PBL allows students to engage in real projects, improving critical thinking skills and communication skills, while Game-Based Learning facilitates conceptual understanding through game activities. Although challenges such as activity design and technological limitations were faced, the positive impact on students' understanding of the material and social skills was evident. Support from the school and parents played an important role in the success of the implementation, and plans for evaluation and development of learning methods showed a commitment to continuously improving the quality of education. This study concludes that innovation in learning can provide significant benefits for students and be a model for other schools.

Abstract

This study aims to answer the problems of the two hypotheses proposed, namely the influence of work motivation on the performance of teachers at the West Aceh State Junior High School, the influence of job satisfaction on the performance of teachers at the West Aceh State Junior High School. The population of this study was 138 teachers. The research sample of 103 people was obtained by random sampling. The research instrument used a questionnaire with a Likert scale and the processing of research data was analyzed through the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and path analysis. The results of the study showed that work motivation had a direct positive effect on the performance of teachers at the West Aceh State Junior High School, as shown by ?31 = 0.393 and the t count value> t table (2.081> 1.66) while the significance was 0.000 <0.050. 2) Job satisfaction had a direct positive effect on the performance of teachers at the West Aceh State Junior High School, as shown by ?23 = 0.500 and the t count value> t table (2.359> 1.66) while the significance was 0.000 <0.050. The implications of this study explain that work motivation and job satisfaction have a positive effect on teacher performance. This shows that teacher performance can be improved by increasing work motivation and job satisfaction.

Abstract

There is a possibility that the Acehnese language and other locally used languages in Aceh Province could become threatened if the locals do not make efforts to maintain them. This study aims to explore teachers perspectives on maintaining the Acehnese mother tongue in schools. Employing a mixed-methods research design, data was collected through surveys and semi-structured interviews. The survey was distributed via Google Forms to 217 schoolteachers selected through voluntary sampling in Aceh, while interviews were conducted with seven teachers who willingly participated in the study. The results indicate that most teachers agree on maintaining the use of local languages in schools. However, language maintenance may face challenges e.g., globalization, family role, and youth attitude. Hence, teachers recommend that schools should actively promote the use of local languages by designating a special day for celebrating their use and incorporating the languages into local content lessons. This study intends to provide insightful recommendations for policy development regarding the maintenance of local languages in the school setting, particularly in Aceh. It also suggests educational implications, such as integrating these languages into formal schooling and developing educational resources to enhance their use in schools. Furthermore, future research could focus on documenting and preserving local languages, as well as implementing language immersion programs aimed at preserving local languages in Aceh.

Abstract

Student completeness in learning mathematics is still low and interest in learning is relatively low, because the learning media is less varied and less interesting, and there are still students who have not achieved learning outcomes above the minimum completeness criteria. The purpose of this study was to analyze the use of digital comics in improving mathematics learning outcomes. The research approach used is qualitative and the type of research used is a literature study or literature review. The stages used in this literature study research design include the focus of scientific articles, data collection, data analysis, and conclusions. Based on the results of the literature review, it shows that technology-based innovative media such as comics are learning resources sourced from objects close to students, so that students feel familiar with the media used during the learning process. Technology-based innovative media such as digital comics can increase interest in learning mathematics, by involving students' real experiences. Learning that interests students is influenced by teacher creativity. Utilization of comic media in learning mathematics can improve students' learning outcomes, through the senses of students can observe and listen to the teacher's explanation properly as exemplified by the role in comic media as digital media.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), has opened new opportunities to transform education by enhancing personalization, efficiency, and inclusivity. However, regions such as Banda Aceh still face disparities in digital infrastructure, access, and literacy, which hinder the optimal use of technology in schools. This study aims to analyze the utilization of AI in platform-based learning as a strategy to improve the quality of education in Banda Aceh. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach through interviews, participatory observations, and documentation studies conducted in several elementary schools. The findings reveal that AI provides significant benefits, including personalized learning experiences tailored to students’ abilities, automated assessments that deliver efficient and accurate feedback, and inclusive learning environments that support diverse student needs. Nevertheless, challenges remain, such as limited internet access, insufficient technological devices, low digital literacy among teachers and students, and uneven government policies. The study concludes that while AI has great potential to enhance education in Banda Aceh, its success requires strengthening digital infrastructure, continuous professional development for educators, and supportive policies. Collaborative efforts between the government, schools, and technology developers are essential to ensure effective and sustainable implementation.

Abstract

Character education is an important element in shaping students' moral, social, and emotional competencies, particularly within the context of the Indonesian Independent Curriculum. One strategy to strengthen students' character is through the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation process of P5 in strengthening students' character, the assessment standards used, and the follow-up plan developed to improve the quality of education in junior high schools in Sukajaya District, Sabang City. This study used a qualitative descriptive method involving interviews, observation, and documentation. Informants included the principal, curriculum team leader, subject teachers, and students. The results showed that the implementation of P5 in State Junior High School 2 Sabang focused on a sustainable lifestyle theme through ecobrick activities, while State Junior High School 2 Sabang adopted an entrepreneurship theme through a school bazaar event. All implementations followed the four main stages of P5: planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. Assessment emphasized authentic evaluation based on student participation, creativity, and collaboration. It can be concluded that the implementation of P5 made a positive contribution to strengthening students' character and improving contextual learning, although continuous improvement and teacher guidance are still needed.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in elementary schools often faces challenges in improving students' conceptual understanding, especially in fractions. A fifth-grade teacher at Sd Negeri 61 Banda Aceh City, Mrs. N, said in an interview session that during the teaching and learning process in the classroom, teachers still tend to use lecture methods as is generally used so that the teaching and learning process in the classroom is conventional and lacks creativity during learning, students are unable to implement it into real life. The Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach provides a solution by connecting mathematical concepts with real-life contexts, making it easier for students to understand and apply fraction concepts more meaningfully. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the RME model in fraction learning and its effect on elementary school students' conceptual understanding. The research method used is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of fifth-grade elementary school students who were divided into an experimental group (with RME) and a control group (with conventional methods). The research instruments included conceptual understanding tests, observations, and interviews to obtain quantitative and qualitative data. The results showed that students who learned with the RME approach experienced a more significant increase in conceptual understanding compared to students who learned using conventional methods. RME-based learning can help students construct fraction concepts through exploration of contextual situations, group discussions, and reflection on problem-solving strategies. Therefore, using this approach can be an effective strategy in improving the quality of fraction learning in elementary schools.
