The objective of this research is to find out whether using vlog can improve the speaking skills of the eleventh grade students of SMAN 5 Palu. This research applied quasi-experimental research design. The sample of this research were the eleventh grade IPA 1 and IPA 4 consist 33 students. The sample were selected by using purposive sampling. The data were collected by administering a speaking test conducted before and after treatment, or pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using t-test to compare mean score of pre-test and post-test of experimental and control class. The result showed that the mean differences of the experimental and control class were (46.67) and (51.21). While the post-test were (75.76) and (56.97). Further analysis indicates, t-counted (13.43) is greater than t-table (1.670). There was improvement of the students speaking skill. It is conclude that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. It means that using vlog give good effect in improve students speaking skill of SMAN 5 Palu.

Abstract

The research aims to prove if the use of partner reading strategy can improve reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 20 Sigi. This research uses a quasi-experimental research design. The population of this research was class VIII students at SMP Negeri 20 Sigi consisting of 66 students from three classes. The sample was class VIII A as the experimental group and class VIII B as the control group. Sample selection was carried out randomly. Data was collected through a reading test administry as a pre-test and post-test. By applying a significance level of 0.05, the researchers found that the sig value obtained (p) was lower than alpha (a) (0.000<0.05). It means that the hypothesis is accepted or the use of partner reading strategy can improve the reading comprehension of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 20 Sigi.

Abstract

This research examines how well eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Sigi improve their reading comprehension skills through Project-Based Learning (PjBL). Reading comprehension is one of the most important skills for students learning English as a foreign language (EFL). However, the lack of vocabulary, low motivation, and inefficient teaching strategies cause problems for many students. PjBL is used as a student-centered learning strategy to address this issue. This research applied a quasi-experimental approach, with a control group learning conventionally and an experimental group using PjBL. Pre-tests and post-tests were used to gather information about students' reading comprehension development. The average score of the experimental group increased from 34.37 to 49.28, showing a substantial improvement, while the control group increased from 35.82 to 46.38. A p-value of 0.001, which is less than 0.05, was obtained through statistical analysis using an independent sample T-test, indicating that the improvement in the experimental group is statistically significant. This study shows that PjBL can improve students' reading comprehension by encouraging active learning, collaboration, and critical thinking. Based on this, the researchers recommend applying PjBL in English language teaching to create a more engaging and meaningful learning experience.
