Abstract

Chemistry lessons are subject matter whose concepts are often found in students' daily lives, but many teachers have not been able to integrate the phenomena of chemistry and the potential of local plants into learning. The purpose of this research is to describe the potential of local plants as content and learning media based on local wisdom. The results of the study show that several types of plants found in the tourist area of Meranti Village can be used as chemistry learning content and media. These plants, namely belimbing wuluh flower, softwood flower and red spinach can be used as natural indicators instead of synthesis indicators for testing acid and alkaline solutions and Sago from sago trees is developed as a learning medium for molecular shape models

Abstract

The seagrass ecosystem is an ecosystem that is very important to support the sustainability of the biota that take shelter in it. The seagrass ecosystem is known as one of the areas that is vulnerable to damage. Various human activities, such as fishing and industrial activities can trigger this damage. This study aims to provide information regarding the description and level of degradation of the seagrass meadow ecosystem in Uwedikan Village. The method used is random sampling method. The results showed that there were 5 species of seagrass found, namely Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii, Cymodocea Serullata, Cymodocea rotundata and Halophila ovalis. Seagrass cover averaged 40.60% at Tanjung Balean and 33.1% at the Tambatan Perahu. This is included in the moderate/less rich category. The highest seagrass cover was for Thalassia hemprichii with a total of 2,169 individuals at Tanjung Balean and 1,453 at the Boat Mooring. The relationship of water parameters, namely temperature, degree of acidity (pH) and brightness greatly affect the growth of seagrass ecosystems. In particular, the temperature at the two locations obtained different values, namely 29--30.5°C at Tanjung Balean and 30--35.3°C at the Tambatan Perahu.

Abstract

This descriptive quantitative study aims to examine the perceptions of gender equality among students at SMA Negeri (State Senior High School) 1 Bunta. Data were obtained from 119 students who completed a 75-item questionnaire. The analysis employed descriptive statistics, yielding an average perception score of 238,99 with a score range of 63-300. The principal finding indicates that teachers’ treatment of students based on gender is the most prominent factor in supporting gender equality within the school environment, reflected by the highest percentage of 81,28 %.  However, cultural aspects, social norms, and formal school policies still require greater attention to overcome existing barriers.  The study recommends strengthening pro-gender equality school policies, providing gender‑awareness training for teaching staff, and developing programs that encourage active student participation without discrimination.  The implications of the findings are expected to serve as a basis for policymakers in creating an inclusive and fair educational environment for all genders.

Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing deviant behavior and low learning motivation in students at SMA Negeri 1 Suwawa, and how teacher competency and school strategies influence these dynamics in the context of implementing the Independent Curriculum and character education. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design, this study involved 30 students selected through purposive sampling, as well as teachers and education personnel as supporting informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques and assisted by NVivo 14 software for theme coding. The results indicate that deviant behavior and low learning motivation are closely related to teacher competency in implementing values-based learning, authentic assessment, and differentiated learning. Furthermore, the study revealed a significant gap between teachers' actual abilities and the demands of the Independent Curriculum, necessitating reinforcement through needs-based Teacher Professional Development (TPD) planning. These findings provide important implications: schools need to build a systematic character education ecosystem supported by ongoing teacher professional development to more effectively transform student behavior and learning motivation.
