Abstract

This study aimed at identifying how did the improvement in the problem-solving ability of learners work in improving the ability of learners in constructing the materials obtained after the development of Learner’s Worksheet in classroom learning. This research used Research and Development (R & D) approach using the Kemp model. Data collections were done through problem-solving tests, validation analysis, and correlation test. The indicators of this study included the effectiveness of the developed learner’s worksheet and the increased ability of problem-solving that was seen from the learning results obtained. The results showed that the average increase in the learning outcomes of the learners was equal to 79.44 with a difference in the scores of learning outcomes where tcount = 32.806 > ttable = 1.734, with a significance level of 0.000. Also, the improvement of learning outcomes on the response of learners gives significant influence with a score of 0.338 with a significance level of 0.085. Based on these results the development, the problem-solving oriented students’ worksheet is declared valid and effective based on the results of validation tests by experts and the results of the implementation of classroom learning. These results impact the students’ learning outcomes. It is expected that in the learning process with different materials, the worksheet can be applied in improving students' ability to solve problems. It is suggested for a research to collaborate the worksheet with other models and, media that can be linked to the problem-solving aspects, so that in its implementation, students have the confidence to succeed, be more active, and interested in problem-solving given

Abstract

Terdapat bebeberapa teori tentang masuknya agama Islam di China. Perbedaan pendapat tersebut disebabkan oleh kurangnya data yang valid yang ditemukan dilapangan tentang kapan dan dimana pertama kali Islam menyebar di negeri itu.Menurut Jean A. Berli dalam bukunya Islam in China menjelaskan,masuknya Islam di China berlangsung pada abad ke-8.Sedangkan apabila berdasarkan pada catatan Chen Yuen dan catatan resmi dari Dinasti Tang menunjukkan bahwa Khalifah Utsman bin Affan sudahmengirim utusan ke China sejak abad ke-7, tepatnya tahun 30 H/651 M. Kedatangan Islam lebih dari 10 abad yang lalu tentu sedikit banyak memberikan dinamika tersendiri bagi perkembangan China. Meski sebagai minoritas, umat Islam di China selalu melibatkan diri dalam proses dealektika sejarah berdirinya negeri tersebut. Bahkan tokoh revolusionis yang membawa China dari pemerintahan tiran (Dinasti Manchu) menuju negara Republik Demokratis adalah seorang tokoh Islam yang bernama Sun Yat Sen. Hadirnya Sun Yat Sen dan tokoh-tokoh muslim penting lainya tidak lepas dari kegigihan umat Islam dalam membangun peradaban mereka melalui kultur, sosial, budaya dan pendidikan yang mereka perjuangkan selama berabad-abad. Di sadari atau tidak, kegigihan umat Islam inilah yang secara tidak langsung juga ikutserta dalam menentukkan arah gerak masa depan China yang sekarang ini.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah is known as Islamic organization pioneering modern educational and social movement. Recently, Muhammadiyah education has experienced rapid development, yet there are still many problems and challenges to overcome in order to continue competing and giving the best for the society. The aim of this research was to figure out the role of Muhammadiyah in conducting dakwah bil hal movement in education and social environment in Sorong City, Papua. By using qualitative method and in-depth interview and also field research, this study found out that bil hal Muhammadiyah Movement in Sorong City, Papua has given significant impact on the society, especially in education from Kindergarten to University level. Meanwhile, in the social field, Muhammadiyah in Sorong City had built orphanage for boys and girls. However, in terms of management of organizational governance, Muhammadiyah needs to strengthen the solidity between regional leaders, optimization of autonomous assemblies and organizations as a power base to support maximization of dakwah bil hal Muhammadiyah movement in the future, especially in education and society.

Abstract

Islamic boarding school which well-known as pesantren establishment reflects a process of transformation on the religious level of education. The Arabic language is the compulsory subject to gain a set of curriculum. Therefore, it is a need to explore the process of Arabic language teaching and learning in an Islamic school. This research was conducted in Sorong's greater area of West Papua. In-depth interviews and non-participant observation were employed in collecting data. The Arabic language is the main subject to support other subjects. Each semester, students need to complete a set of subjects. Some activities extend the subject in many courses to enrich language skills and capacity. In addition, the Muslim minority is the environment to challenge the region. Therefore, the schools constructed the special program in complementing the syllabus. There is an additional program to complete in a year program. The combination of classroom activity and course program is the breakthrough to extend the opportunity to learn not only in the classroom but also outside the classroom. This article concludes that an additional program was created to enhance students’ skill and language development through practices and non-formal courses.

Abstract

This research explores the application of Al-Islam and Kemuhamadiyahan learning based on religious moderation. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. Data collection by observing, interviewing and documenting. Data analysis using the interactive model popularized by Miles and Huberman includes data condensation, presenting data and drawing conclusions. Testing the validity of the data using triangulation techniques: time triangulation, source triangulation, method triangulation, and investigator triangulation. So, this research found that implementing Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah learning was based on religious moderation. The results of this research are that implementing AI-Islam and Kemuhamadiyahan learning based on religious moderation is generally carried out with two types of knowledge, namely learning in and outside the classroom. Classroom learning by implementing AIK education guidelines at PTMA and AIK Multicultural. Meanwhile, activities outside the school are integrated with campus activities, namely Matras, Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM), Tapak Suci (TS), Christian Student Association (PMK), seminars, field studies, mabit activities and seminars. The AI-Islam and Kemuhamadiyahan learning model based on religious moderation is one form of operationalization of the ultimate goal of Islamic education, namely empowering humans.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of developing curriculum components on upgrading the students’ English acquisition in State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Sorong, Southwest Papua Province Indonesia. Developing curriculum components presented goals, contents, approaches, methods, and evaluation precisely is to know the students’ English acquisition covering vocabulary, grammar, listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The sample size for this study comprises 72 students consisting of 36 students from Class A and 36 others from Class B, representing the experimental group and a control group. Those groups were selected based ona partitional clustering method. An experimental design was employed to conduct the study, which involved gathering quantitative data from the pre-test and post-test. It was to obtain the students’ English acquisition achievements. To analyze the collected data, SPSS is used for a precise and efficient process of the various necessary outputs describing meaningful conclusions. The pre-test findings conclude no significant difference in students’ achievement before treatment.After treatment, the post-test found the t-value was greater than t-table (t-value 4.690 t-table 2.000). This data strongly indicates a positive impact of developing curriculum components to improve students’ acquisition of English elements for the experimental group. This means the study summarized and emphasized the development of curriculum components precisely, structurally, systematically, and professionally for the teachers to upgrade their students’ acquisition of English elements significantly.

Abstract

This research explores the implementation of Islamic learning culture at MTs Roudlotul Khuffadz. The aim of this research is to uncover the applied learning culture, with the goal not only to achieve material proficiency but also to shape individuals who are mature and possess a positive learning culture. The research method used is qualitative, involving observation of daily activities at MTs Roudlotul Khuffadz and interviews to map indicators of student learning culture and its contributing factors. Data analysis is conducted using the Spradley method, encompassing domain analysis, taxonomy, componential analysis, and cultural theme analysis. The results of the research indicate that the implementation of Islamic learning culture at MTs Roudlotul Khuffadz is realized through systematic planning, incorporating Islamic elements, daily routines, and the cultivation of Islamic values such as worship, good behavior, noble character, manners, and daily habits. In conclusion, MTs Roudlotul Khuffadz has successfully implemented the Islamic learning culture by engaging all stakeholders, including students, parents, and educators. Islamic leadership is key in creating a school that serves as a model for Islamic learning culture.

Abstract

This article identifies the Islamic education movement and da’wah (Islamic missionary endeavor) of the Arab community in Palu incorporated in the Alkhairat organization. The formation of this organization arose from a madrasah (madrassa) named “Madrasah Alkhairat Al-Islamiyah” found by Sayyid Idrus bin Salim Aljufri, an ulama (Islamic scholar) from Hadramaut, in 1930 in Palu. The formation of the madrasah was the response of the Arab community in Palu Valley to the Christianization of Dutch Christian missionaries under the auspices of the Leger Dois Heist (Salvation Army). This study uses non-participant observation methods and purposive in-depth interviews with ten subjects consisted of leaders, teachers and staffs in Alkhairat to obtain data related to the topic. Furthermore, the authors verify the data. Finally, this article shows that the Islamic education and da’wah movement undertaken by the Arab community in Palu Valley reflects the process of integration and harmonization of Arabs with local people, and has supported the construction progress in Palu. Artikel ini mengidentifikasi gerakan pendidikan dan dakwah Islam komunitas Arab di Palu yang tergabung dalam organisasi Alkhairat. Terbentuknya organisasi ini berawal dari sebuah madrasah bernama “Madrasah Alkhairat Al-Islamiyah” yang didirikan oleh Sayyid Idrus bin Salim Aljufri, seorang Ulama asal Hadramaut, pada tahun 1930 di Palu. Pembentukan madrasah tersebut merupakan respon komunitas Arab di Lembah Palu terhadap kristenisasi yang dilakukan oleh para misionaris kristen Belanda di bawah naungan Leger Dois Heist (Bala Keselamatan) terhadap masyarakat Palu dan sekitarnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi non-partisipan dan wawancara mendalam terhadap sepuluh orang yang terdiri pimpinan, guru maupun staff dalam jaringan Alkhairat guna mendapatkan data terkait topik yang dikaji. Selanjutnya, penulis melakukan verifikasi data yang dijadikan bahan dalam penulisan. Akhirnya, artikel ini menunjukkan bahwa gerakan pendidikan dan dakwah Islam yang dilakukan oleh komunitas Arab di Lembah Palu mencerminkan proses integrasi dan upaya harmonisasi orang-orang Arab dengan masyarakat lokal setempat serta telah mendukung perkembangan pembangunan di Kota Palu.

Abstract

For Muslim, mosque has unique role and its special function in daily life. Five times a day, mosques carry out prayer as compulsory activities. This study explores mosques in West Papua Province where Muslim is as minority. It employs qualitative approach and used in-depth interview and non-participant observation to collect data. The findings show that there are three mosque major components; wudhu area, praying hall, and mimbar. In mosque as a center of activity in the region, the board provided some facilities to be used by either Muslim or others. Mosques embedded with various arts from many traditional roots. Patterns and symmetries were used to enhance art in wall of mosque. On the other hand, the minority condition gives them opportunity to present architecture design to engage with other community. Building styles and type reflect the multicultural characteristics as identity through built environment representing their culture within the local community. Muslim minority tries to extend their mosque not only as praying place but also as a society facility. Bagi muslim, masjid berperan unik dan memiliki fungsi dalam kehidupan keseharian. Lima kali sehari di masjid dilangsungkan shalat sebagai aktivitas wajib. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi masjid-masjid di Propinsi Papua Barat dimana umat Islam sebagai minoritas. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam dan observasi nonpartisipasi. Penelitian ini menunjukkan tiga komponen utama dalam masjid; tempat wudhu, ruang shalat, dan mimbar. Di masjid yang menjadi pusat akitivitas di daerah tertentu, pengurusnya menyediakan beberapa fasilitas yang dapat digunakan umat Islam maupun umat lain. Masjid dihias dengan keragaman seni dari pelbagai akar tradisi. Pola dan simetris digunakan untuk memperkaya seni di dinding masjid. Di sisi lain, kondisi minoritas memberikan kesempatan kepada umat Islam untuk menghadirkan desain arsitektur yang tetap memperhatikan kepentingan komunitas lain. Gaya dan tipe bangunan mencerminkan karakteristik multikultural sebagai identitas melalui lingkungan bangunan yang mencerminkan budaya mereka diantara komunitas lokal. Masyarakat minoritas muslim berupaya menjadikan masjid tidak saja sebagai tempat shalat tetapi juga sebagai pusat kegiatan masyarakat.

Abstract

Sulawesi Selatan sebagai salah satu daerah yang terletak di timur Indonesia dengan berbagai suku dan budaya juga menjadi rumah bagi praktik kearifan lokal yang beraneka ragam. Kearifan lokal melembaga menjadi sebuah tradisi dan ini sebuah peluang untuk diintegrasikan ke dalam pendidikan. Salah satu tempat yang dapat dipergunakan untuk menjaga eksistensi kearifan lokal adalah dalam pendidikan yang merupakan tempat untuk mendidik manusia menjadi lebih baik. Artikel ini di tulis menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk melihat jenis-jenis kearifan lokal yang ada dalam pendidikan di Sulawesi Selatan serta manfaatnya dalam kehidupan, sehingga dengan identifikasi tersebut maka kearifan-kearifan lokal tersebut dapat terjaga dan dilestarikan dengan baik
