Abstract

This study aims to examine the physical and chemical properties of soil, morphology, and soil classification in Dalisodo Village, Wagir District, Malang Regency, and their implications for land management. Observations were conducted at three locations representing different land-use types: Napier grass monoculture, coffee agroforestry, and open grass. Soil morphology was described in the field, while physical and chemical analyses were conducted using standard laboratory methods. The results indicate that the soil is predominantly clay-textured, with a granular to subangular blocky structure, an acidic pH, and a very low to moderate organic carbon content. N, P, and K levels vary from low to moderate, CEC ranges from moderate to high, and base saturation ranges from low to very high. Soil classification reveals a dominance of Inceptisols and Vertisols in Udic soil moisture regimes, with soil profiles characterized by Typic Hapluderts (Point 1), Dystric Eutrudepts (Point 2), and Chromic Hapluderts (Point 3). These findings provide important information for land management, as vertisols require attention to drainage, water retention, and liming to optimize productivity. Inceptisols require organic amendments and soil fertility management to support sustainable agricultural or agroforestry systems. Emphasis on soil classification helps determine appropriate land management strategies, improves fertilizer efficiency, and supports the sustainability of the region’s agricultural ecosystem.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve water efficiency and farmer welfare by implementing an Internet of Things (IoT)-based drip irrigation system in coffee agroforestry at the CAF Singonegoro Farmers Group in Tuban Regency. The main problems partners face are low water efficiency during the dry season and a heavy reliance on manual labor for plant watering. The solution is to implement an automatic drip irrigation system controlled by a soil moisture sensor and an ESP32 microcontroller, with monitoring via an Android-based application. The implementation method included a needs survey, training on tool use, system installation, and one month of technical assistance. The results of the activity showed a water efficiency of 36.7% and a 50% reduction in labor requirements. In addition, farmers' understanding of irrigation technology increased from 52% to 88%. Other positive impacts include increased plant growth and operational cost savings of IDR 300,000 per month per farmer. This activity demonstrates that implementing IoT technology in irrigation systems can support resource efficiency and sustainably improve farmer welfare.ABSTRAKKegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi penggunaan air dan kesejahteraan petani melalui penerapan sistem irigasi tetes berbasis Internet of Things (IoT) pada agroforestri kopi di Kelompok Tani CAF Singonegoro, Kabupaten Tuban.

Abstract

The impact of on employee work motivation at the Biro Organisasi dan Sumber Daya Manusia Kementerian Perdagangan Republik Indonesia, Jakarta Pusat, especially in facing the dynamics of the digital era. This qualitative study utilized in-depth interview techniques with 10 key informants out of a total of 75 employees, supplemented by data triangulation and SWOT analysis to validate the findings. The results revealed that the transformational leadership approach which includes four main dimensions: idealized influence (pengaruh ideal), inspirational motivation (motivasi inspiratif), intellectual stimulation (stimulasi intelektual), and individualized consideration (perhatian individual) as described by Bass in Armansyah (2022:4), successfully strengthened adaptation to digital technology, encouraged innovation, and enhanced intrinsic motivation among employees amid challenges of e-government implementation and government bureaucracy reform. Furthermore, employees who feel motivated to achieve work goals tend to be more satisfied with their jobs. Conversely, employees who feel dissatisfied with their work, whether due to external or internal factors, tend to experience decreased motivation (S. Sutoro, Moh 2024). The study found that transformational leaders create a collaborative work ecosystem by integrating technological tools such as virtual platforms and cloud systems, inspiring subordinates to exceed their personal targets. This effectively reduces resistance to change, decreases work fatigue, and significantly increases overall productivity. The main contribution of this study lies in enriching human resource development in central government agencies, accompanied by strategic recommendations in the form of digital-transformational leadership training programs to strengthen the vision and mission of the organization going forward.

Abstract

Abstract. Widowati, Biru SM, Agastya IMI, Cahya UTW, Wilujeng R. 2025. Optimization of biochar and drip irrigation to improve chili yield and soil properties. Asian J Agric 9: 442-453. Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens) is an important horticultural crop in Indonesia; however, its yield remains below optimal despite rising demand. This study intends to (i) assess changes in soil bulk density, particle density, and porosity; (ii) evaluate the effects of irrigation techniques and the application of biochar on chili yields; and (iii) identify the best combination for optimizing resource usage and yield. Eight different treatment combinations, each repeated four times, were used in a nested randomized design study conducted in Tunggulwulung Village, Malang. As the primary factor, the treatments included two main irrigation techniques (conventional and drip), which were further subdivided with different rates of biochar application (0%, 2%, 4%, and 6%). There were 160 pots total, with five plants per treatment acting as experimental units. Rice husks that had been pyrolyzed for three to four hours at 600°C were the source of the biochar. According to the results, adding biochar to conventional irrigation increases fruit weight by 125% and yield by about 130%. Drip irrigation with 4% biochar, on the other hand, is the most successful technique and yields much larger improvements, increasing fruit weight by 764% and fruit yield by 324%. Drip irrigation is more effective and yields better results than conventional irrigation, especially when combined with rice husk biochar. Furthermore, soil porosity and water use efficiency are significantly increased when 4% and 6% doses of biochar are added to drip irrigation systems.
