Abstract

Caring behavior is the core of nursing services that enhance human dignity and support recovery, particularly among critically ill patients in intensive care units that depend heavily on nurses. Emotional intelligence is one internal factor influencing caring behavior, referring to the nurses' ability to recognize and manage their own emotions, motivate themselves, understand others' emotions, and build social relationships. This research aims to analyze the association between emotional intelligence and nurses' caring behavior, as perceived by patients and families, in the ICU/ICCU of RSUD (Regional General Hospital) Toto Kabila, Bone Bolango Regency. This research employs a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, involving 38 respondents selected through consecutive sampling, and uses instruments that have been tested for validity and reliability, including questionnaires on emotional intelligence and nurses' caring behavior. The results indicate that most nurses demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence (37 respondents, 97.4%) and that nurses' caring behavior is predominantly rated as good (35 respondents, 92.1%). Based on the Spearman Rank test, a p-value of 0.029 (<0.05) is obtained, indicating a positive association between emotional intelligence and nurses' caring behayon with a moderate level of correlation. In conclusion, a higher level of emotional Intelligence is associated with better caring behavior

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the chronic diseases that requires long-term management because it can cause complications if not controlled. One of the important factors in blood pressure control is the patient's adherence to taking antihypertensive drugs regularly. Patients who are members of the Chronic Disease Management Program (Prolanis) are expected to have better blood pressure control through routine health monitoring and continuous education. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of compliance with hypertension medication and the blood pressure of Prolanis patients in the Working Area of the Tilango Health Center, Gorontalo Regency. This study is a quantitative research using a correlational analytical design with a cross sectional approach, involving 53 respondents who were taken using purposive sampling techniques. The results showed that the majority of respondents had medication adherence in the moderate category as many as 29 people (54.7%), while the majority of respondents' blood pressure was in the mild category as many as 27 people (50.9%). Based on the results of the Chi-Square test, a p value of < 0.05 was obtained, so it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the level of compliance with taking hypertension medication and the blood pressure of Prolanis patients in the Tilango Health Center Working Area, Gorontalo Regency, where the better the patient's level of adherence in taking medication, the more controlled the patient's blood pressure.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

In Indonesia, central obesity among people aged 15-54 years has become a health problem that continues to increase from 2018 (30.8%) to 2023 (36.8%) and significantly contributes to degenerative diseases. This study aims to analyze dietary patterns and consumption of risky foods related to central obesity in Indonesia using a spatial analysis approach. Data are sourced from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) Report with 38 provinces as the analysis unit. The variables studied include consumption of risky foods (sweet foods and drinks, salty foods, markers, seasonings, and instant noodles) and consumption patterns of foods such as nuts, milk, sugar, oil, vegetables, and fruit. Data analysis was carried out using Moran’s I and Local Indicator of Spatial Autocorrelation (LISA) to identify spatial autocorrelation and Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) as the regression analysis. The results show that the incidence of central obesity in Indonesia forms a clustered pattern across provinces. OLS regression analyzed the main variables that were significantly related, namely consumption of salty foods, fried/fatty foods, nuts, and vegetables and fruit. The negative association between salty foods and nuts is explained by local cultural factors and relatively low-calorie consumption, while the positive association between fruit and vegetable consumption indicates low consumption frequency, thus suboptimal preventive factors for central obesity. These findings demonstrate the need for community nutrition interventions that consider spatial variation across provinces to improve the effectiveness of central obesity prevention efforts in Indonesia.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (Diabetes) is a degenerative and chronic disease caused by impaired carbohydrate metabolism due to insulin hormone insufficiency. Data from the Gorontalo Provincial Health Department in 2023 showed that there were 18.299 cases of diabetes mellitus diagnosed. The study aimed to analyze the use of oral hyperglycemic drugs in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province. This research is a quantitative study with an observational analytical approach using a cross-sectional design. The population of this study was diabetic patients who were using oral hyperglycemic drugs in the Kabila Health Center area, with 126 people selected using the total sampling method. The data on gender, age, income, health worker  support, and family support were analyzed using binary logistic regression. The results showed a significant difference between income (P = 0.013) and health worker support (P = 0.022) with compliance. In contrast, the gender (P = 0.333) and family support (P = 0.070) did not significantly differ in compliance. Each category that had significant differences was subjected to multivariate analysis. The results showed no difference in compliance based on gender (P = 0.235), 2). However, there was a difference in compliance based on age (P = 0.022) and income level (P = 0.020). The variable explaining the dependent variable was only 19.5%, and the rest was described by other variables outside the research model (80.5%). The statistical analysis concluded that 1) gender variables (Sig 0.333) and family support (0.070) did not have a significant effect on compliance, 2) income variables (0.013) and health worker support (0.022) had a significant effect on compliance.

Abstract

Hemodialysis generally functions to remove metabolic waste products that cause a decrease in blood glucose levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of hemodialysis therapy on blood glucose levels in patients in the hemodialysis room at Prof. Dr. H. Aloei Saboe Regional General Hospital in Gorontalo City. The research method used was quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design and a one-group pre-post test design. The sample consisted of 26 respondents using purposive sampling technique. The Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value of 0.000 (p-value < 0.05), indicating that hemodialysis therapy affects blood glucose levels in patients in the hemodialysis room at Prof. Dr. H. Aloei Saboe Regional General Hospital in Gorontalo City. Hemodialysis therapy can reduce the burden of uremic toxins that previously interfered with insulin sensitivity. After dialysis, cellular response to insulin improves, allowing blood glucose levels to be controlled more effectively. It is hoped that this will yield positive results in enhancing the quality of nursing care for patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy, particularly in measuring blood glucose levels. Hemodialysis therapy should be performed to measure blood glucose levels.

Abstract

Pain is still the main problem for patients being treated in the treatment room. To overcome pain, analgesic drugs are often given. Even though the first step to help reduce pain can be to use non-pharmacological therapy. This study aims to see effect of non pharmacological therapy in reducing patient pain levels. The type of research is a quasi experiment with a one-group pre-test and post-test design approach. Sampling using accidental sampling technique over a period of 1 month obtained 50 respondents who matched the characteristics of the respondents in the research. Overall non- pharmacological therapy (beson relaxation, murotal, guide imagery, zikr, warm compresses, and hypnosis techniques) can reduce pain intensity in respondents who experience pain. Pain management in patients does not always involve immediate administration of medication. Non-pharmacological measures must always be prioritized to treat pain. Non-pharmacological therapy has been proven to be able to overcome or reduce pain levels.
