Abstract

Primary Forest and Imperata cylindrica grasslands are two different ecosystems that meet in the same area in Lore Lindu National Park. Climatic conditions such as rainfall are also the same. The difference in vegetation between the two ecosystems is interesting to be investigated by comparing the physical properties of the two ecosystems. This study aims to determine the physical properties of soils in the Primary forest and Padeha grasslands in the Lore Lindu National Park Area. This research was conducted from January to March 2017, located in the Lore Lindu National Park, Sedoa Village, Lore Utara District, Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi. This research was started from a field survey, determining the location of sampling, soil sampling, analysis of soil samples in the Laboratory. Determination of the location is done intentionally (purposive sampling) by considering the slope conditions namely, valley back and hill. Soil sampling was carried out at two depths namely 0-30 cm and 30-60 cm. Soil in primary forest has physical properties as follows: clay soil texture, medium granular and coarse granular soil structure, high bulk density 1.2 gr / cm3 and very high 1.5 gr / cm3, good soil porosity 54.5% and less good 43.6%, moderate soil permeability 5.12 cm / hour and 0.57 cm / hour rather slowly, and the color of the soil is dark yellowish, yellowish brown, strong brown. Soil in Padeha grasslands has the following physical properties: clay soil texture, rough granular soil structure and medium granular soil, high bulk density 1.3 gr / cm3 and very high 1.4 gr / cm3, good porosity 50.3% and bad 35 , 9%, moderate permeability 2.2 cm / hour and rather slow 1.46 cm / hour, and the color of the soil is strong brown, brown, and black.

Abstract

Ketapang (Terminalia catappa L.) is one of plant that can grow in critical land like reeds field. Imperata cylindrical (L.) Raeusch is one of plant that can secrete allelopathic substances that is chemicals and it is found on the plants body which is put outside into the environment so it can inhibit or ruin the other plants by using Arbuscular Mycorrhiza Fungi (FMA) as biological fertilizer can increase water absorption and nutrient from the soil. This research used Complete Random Design (CRD) method, and consisted of 4 treatments of arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi that are P0= Without treatment (control), P1= FMA 10g/seedling, P2= FMA 15g/seedling, and P3=FMA 20g/seedling. From the 4 treatment levels, each of them is repeated for ten times, so the total of seedling units that be needed are 4x10=40 (forty) seedling units. The result of this research showed that by giving some dose of arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi type of inoculums consortium by 4 genus (Acaulospora, Gigaspora, Glomus, and Scutellospora), have a real impact toward all the observation parameters that are the high accretion, the diameter accretion, the number of leave accretion, canopy wet weight, root wet weight, crown dry weight, and root dry weight. The treatment dose FMA for 20g (P3) on the polybag gives the mean score of high accretion, diameter, and the biggest number of leave. It show that more and more the high dose of FMA that is applied, than the growth of Ketapang seedling is also getting better because by giving FMA, it can influence the allelophatic substance in the growing media.Keyword: Ketapang, Allelophatic, and Mycorrhiza.

Abstract

The application of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and compost is one of the environmentally friendly technologies to improve the fertility of the planting media so that the results of the seeds are higher of quality. Banana weevil or banana stem is an organic material that has several macro and micro nutrient content, for example N, P and K, and contain chemical compounds in the form of carbohydrates that can stimulate the growth of microorganisms in the soil. Furthermore, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) can increase nutrient uptake from the soil into the roots. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the addition of banana weevil compost (Musa balbissiana Colla) and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on growing media on the growth of cempaka seedlings (Elmerrillia ovalis (Mig) Dandy). The result of this research showed that the combination of banana weevil compost and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on growing media significantly influences the growth of leaf number and dry weight, but no significant effect on growth in height, diameter and wet weight. The combination of banana weevil + soil (P1) compost treatment on growth media gave the growth of cempaka seedlings (Elmerrillia ovalis (Mig) Dandy) better than other treatments. The treatment of banana weevil + soil compost (P1) gives the best effect on all parameters, which is the increase in diameter with an average of 0.70 mm, height increase with an average of 2.70 cm, increase in the number of leaves of 1.70 strands, wet weight with an average of 2.90 g, dry weight with an average of 0.60 g.Keywords: compost, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, Elmerrillia ovalis (Mig) Dandy
