Abstract

This research is entitled "The Tradition of Basidakah Limau in Nagari Kinari, Bukit Sundi District, Solok Regency, West Sumatra Province". The purpose of this study is to describe the procession of the lime basin tradition in Nagari Kinari and to describe the symbolic meaning of the lime basin tradition. The theory used in this study is the symbolic interpretive theory of Clifford Geertz. The methods used in this study were carried out by observation, interview and documentation methods. The data analysis technique in this study uses steps including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The results of this study show that the procession of the lime basidakah tradition starts from determining the date and day, making pucuak, making musajik-musajik cakes, making lime water, picking up pucuak by pasumandan to the place where pucuak is made, the lime sidakah event takes place, and the delivery of pucuak to the cemetery by Pasumandan. Furthermore, the symbolic meaning of the lime basidakah tradition is pucuak which means as an intermediary or the meaning of apology for people who have died, banana stems mean the Nagari Kinari community which is the foundation and support of tradition, carano means traditional meaning and also the meaning of respect for ancestors, flowers mean life and beauty, musajik-musajik cakes means hope for life that is lived full of sweetness and always an abundance of affection, lime water means to cleanse the heart and mind from bad intentions, grudges, or past mistakes and also symbolizes hope and renewal of life, baju bundo kanduang means depicting the role, dignity, and responsibility of women in Minangkabau, and coins mean alms and generosity.

Abstract

The construction of the forbidden forest myth within the Kajang indigenous community of South Sulawesi, Indonesia, transcends mere social practice, serving as a potential asset in natural resource management rooted in local wisdom—a crucial aspect that remains underexplored in existing literature. This study aims to address this research gap by elucidating the characteristics, factors, and implications of the forbidden forest myth’s construction as a valuable resource in ecologically-based natural resource management. Employing a qualitative descriptive case study approach, this study reveals three significant findings. Firstly, the forbidden forest myth constructed by the Kajang indigenous people has evolved into a social institution governing the management and utilization of natural resources. Secondly, the myth’s influence permeates virtually all aspects of Kajang’s indigenous life. Thirdly, the construction of this myth has fostered a proactive attitude towards natural resource management and utilization within the Kajang community. This study also recommends comparative analyses of values, norms, and local wisdom across various indigenous communities in the context of natural resource management practices.

Abstract

Nagari Ulakan Kabupaten Padang Pariaman memiliki potensi alam, berupa tumbuhan pandan. Masyarakat setempat memanfaatkan tumbuhan pandan tersebut sebagai bahan baku pembuatan anyaman. Keahlian menganyam berlangsung secara turun temurun yang diproduksi dalam bentuk tikar. Tikar yang dihasilkan masyarakat nagari Ulakan sesuai dengan kebutuhan masyarakat untuk acara keagamaan, kematian maupun acara perkawinan. Namun produk anyaman pandan tersebut tidak begitu berkembang, sehingga produk yang dihasilkan tidak dapat menjangkau segmen pasar yang luas. Sehubungan dengan hal itu dilakukan kegiatan pelatihan pemberdayaan masyarakat bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pengembangan desain produk anyaman Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode ceramah dan demonstrasi. Melalui kegiatan pelatihan ini dapat meningkatkan kualitas produk anyaman pandan masyarakat Nagari Ulakan melalui metode pengembangan desain produk anyaman sehingga dapat meningkatkan pendapatan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru-guruSekolah Dasar Negeri Dharma Caraka dalam membuat tulisan ilmiah terkait laporan hasil penelitian tindakan kelas. Masalah yang dihadapi oleh paraguru Sekolah Dasar Negeri Dharma Caraka adalah kurang termotivasi untuk membuat tulisan ilmiah disebabkan beberapa faktor, salah satunya adalah kurangnya pengetahuan dan kemampuan terkait kiat-kiat membuat tulisan ilmiah, dan kurangnya waktu karena kesibukan para guru melaksanakan tugas pokok menjalankan proses belajar mengajar. Metode yang dipergunakan adalah ceramah dan demonstrasi dalam menyampaikan materi pelatihan, serta pengaplikasian materi ke bentuk pelatihan membuat tulisan ilmiah yang diarahkan untuk membuat proposal dan laporan hasil penelitian tindakan kelas. Pengabdian ini diharapkan dapat memotivasi dan meningkatkan pengetahuan para guru tentang bagaimana cara membuat tulisan ilmiah, sehingga dapat memenuhi kebutuhan tulisan ilmiah terkait proposal, laporan hasil penelitian tindakan kelas dan makalah ilmiah. Pengetahuan dan kemampuan yang diperoleh guru pada pelatihan ini dapat meningkatkan kompetensi, kapasitas dan profesionalitas para guru sebagai pendidik.

Abstract

Nagari Jawi-Jawi is one area that has a very rich artistic, cultural and literary potential. This is evidenced by the stretching of the activities of cultural arts centers which are held almost every month. To become a developed Cultural Village and tourism destination, there should be attention from the local government, universities, and the private sector to develop its potential. The target to be achieved from the implementation of this program for the people of Nagari Jawi-Jawi, is Services and Training. The approach to help partners, in this case Nagari Jawi Jawi in the effort to be Cultural Village, is conducted in form of counseling and training carried out by the method of lecture and demonstration.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “Makna Sosial Di Balik Fenomena Anak Penjaja Makanan: Studi Etnografi Pekerja Anak Di Kota Padang Panjang.” Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan faktor-faktor yang melatarbelakangi keterlibatan anak-anak dalam pekerjaan sebagai penjaja makanan di Kota Padang Panjang serta menganalisis dampak sosial, pendidikan, dan psikologis yang ditimbulkan dari aktivitas tersebut. Kajian ini menggunakan teori fenomenologi Alfred Schutz untuk memahami makna subjektif tindakan sosial anak-anak pekerja, serta teori kemiskinan kultural Oscar Lewis sebagai kerangka analisis terhadap kondisi sosial-ekonomi keluarga yang melatarbelakanginya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Data diperoleh melalui teknik observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi lapangan, yang kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif-interpretatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat empat faktor utama yang mendorong anak-anak bekerja sebagai penjaja makanan, yaitu keterbatasan ekonomi keluarga, rendahnya tingkat pendidikan orang tua, faktor kebiasaan yang diwariskan, serta kondisi lingkungan rumah yang kurang kondusif. Keterlibatan anak-anak dalam aktivitas menjajakan makanan berdampak signifikan terhadap kehidupan mereka, meliputi terganggunya proses pendidikan formal, penurunan kondisi kesehatan akibat kelelahan dan paparan lingkungan kerja, serta munculnya risiko kekerasan fisik dan psikologis. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa fenomena pekerja anak di Kota Padang Panjang tidak hanya berkaitan dengan aspek ekonomi, tetapi juga mencerminkan dinamika sosial dan budaya kemiskinan yang kompleks.

Abstract

This study discusses the existence of Among-among birth in Jorong Sungai Lambai, Lubuk Gadang Selatan, South Solok Regency. The purpose of this study is to find out how the existence of the Among-among tradition and also the procedures for implementing the Among-among tradition in the Lambai River area. The theories used in this study are existentialism and structural functional theories. The existence of Among-among tradition in the community so that it can survive until now in the midst of modern society. The method used is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews, literature studies, and documentation. . The findings in this study are that the Lambai River community carries out the Among-among tradition of birth with an uncomplicated process, the conditions in its implementation are so easy to find around their residence. The existence of this tradition is very meaningful for the community for further survival.

Abstract

  This thesis entitled “Bakawugh Tradition in Nagari Sumpur Kudus Sijunjung west Sumatera Province” The purpose of this research is to regency describes the bakawugh tradision carried out by the community in Nagari Sumpur Kudus. The theory used in this thesis is symbolic interpretative theory by Clifford Geertz. The medhod used by the author is qualitativemethod, with data collection techniques namely observation, interview, and dokumentation. The results of the study show that the background of the bakawugh tradition comes from the idea of Syekh Ibrahim himself in 1520. In general, the meaning of the bakawugh tradition is thanksgiving, gathering and practicing the charakteristics of Syekh Ibrahim. Social, respect of mind, patience and struggle, togetherness, and hope. Furthermore there are meanings in the contents of jambaigh such as the meaning of peace, purity, freedom, simplicity and ease, unity, tenderness, kinship and closeness, closeness, brotherhood.

Abstract

This study discusses the problem of community conflict related to inheritance disputes that occurred in Kanagarian Koto Nan Ampek, Payakumbuh City. The purpose of this study is to explain the background of the conflict in Kanagarian Koto Nan Ampek and the resolution given based on the conflict that has arisen. The theory used is Lewis A. Coser's theory of conflict. The method used is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques are field observations, interviews, and documentation. The findings of this study are the conflict over inheritance disputes that occurred in Kanagarian Koto Nan Ampek caused by several factors including the lack of knowledge of the heirs regarding the inheritance, the allotment of inheritance which is not known jointly, socially and economically. The impact of this is that there is a change in the character of the Koto Nan Ampek community towards inheritance, which previously guarded inheritance, changed to selling heirlooms. Then there are several solutions offered based on the factors causing the conflict, namely education by traditional institutions or people who know about inheritance, written agreements, and deliberations for consensus.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe music of Saluang Darek wind instrument is Minangkabau traditional music that uses the musical instrument of aerophone classification (air as the main source of vibration) and the kind of end-blown without-block flutes musical instrument, and this musical instrument is used to accompany Minangkabau songs or dendangs. Saluang Darek is made of bamboo. The best bamboos for making Saluang Darek are (1) Talang bamboo (Schizostachyum brachycladum kurz), (2) Buluah Kasok bamboo (Gingantocholoa apus), (3) Tamiang bamboo (Schizostachyum zollingeri steud), and (4) Cimanak bamboo (Schizostachyum longispiculatum). The production of Saluang Darek musical instrument uses the traditional technology by still maintaining the quality of instrument that's ready to be used for the performing arts particularly in accompanying dendang. The method used in this research was the qualitative method by using the approach of organology study. Data were collected through the library research, observation, interview, and documentation.
