Abstract

Anxiety in speaking English is a common problem experienced by students, especially at the junior high school level, and can hinder their language learning process. Therefore, it is important to identify the underlying factors that underlie the appearance of students' anxiety in speaking English. This study aims to explore and analyze the factors that cause anxiety in English speaking in grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 3 Pelepat Ilir. This study uses a qualitative research design with data collection techniques in the form of interviews and observations. Using the Interview Guideline and Observation Sheet instruments. The study participants consisted of five students who were selected purposively based on criteria such as low academic achievement and lack of confidence. The analysis technique is based on Miles and Huberman 1994, with thematic analysis based on Braun and Clarke 2006. The results of the study show that there are four main factors that cause students' anxiety, namely fear of making mistakes, lack of confidence, nervousness, and low motivation. These findings confirm the importance of creating a supportive learning environment and a positive teaching approach to help students overcome anxiety in speaking English. It was found that there was a dominant factor that had the most influence on students. One of them is the factor of lack of internal trust where there is an external cause. All four students have explained the reasons why they feel less confident. Namely lack of understanding of the material, fear of being the center of attention in class, and feeling insecure. This lack of confidence is also shown on the pitch. This factor becomes dominant because almost all students feel anxious, causing students to become less confident when trying to speak English in front of the class.

Abstract

Cooperative learning has become a key pedagogical approach in English education, with group discussion as its primary implementation. This study aims to explore English Education students' perceptions of cooperative learning through group discussion activities at Muhammadiyah University of Muara Bungo. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this study involved five students from different cohorts selected purposively. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis based on the five basic elements of cooperative learning theory. The findings indicate that students demonstrate high awareness of positive interdependence and individual accountability, recognizing the collective nature of success. They prefer small-group formats and value promotive interaction, especially the "learning by teaching" phenomenon. Students develop interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills, though communication skills still require improvement. Group processing emerges as the least systematically applied element. The study recommends implementing more structured group processing and systematic training in cooperative learning principles.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of administering synbiotic pectin from mandarin orange peel (PKJM) and Lactobacillus plantarum bacteria on the health of the hoven’s carp (Leptobarbus hoevenii) through hematological parameters and survival rates. The method used was a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and three replications. The treatment consisted of different doses of PKJM combined with L. plantarum bacteria at a concentration of 108 CFU/mL of 0.1 mL/g, namely P0 (without synbiotic), P1 (5 g/kg PKJM), P2 (10 g/kg PKJM), and P3 (15 g/kg PKJM) in the feed. Hoven’s carp with a size of 8–9 cm were kept in containers for 30 days with 10 fish stocking per container and fed at-satiation with a frequency of 2 times a day in the morning and evening. Observations of hematological parameters consisting of hematocrit, hemoglobin, total erythrocytes and leukocytes were carried out on days 0 and 30, while the survival rate was observed for 30 days of fish maintenance. Data in the form of average values of hematological parameters and their increases, survival rates and water quality were analyzed descriptively in the form of tables and figures. The results of the study showed that the administration of synbiotics could increase the levels of hematological parameters. P2 with a dose of 10 g/kg PKJM + 0.1 mL/g L. plantarum was the best dose in increasing the hematological parameters of fish. The survival rate of hoven’s carp during the study was 96% in all treatments. In general, the results of this study indicate that the administration of synbiotics pectin from mandarin orange peel and L. plantarum bacteria can improve the health of hoven’s carp.

Abstract

This study is driven by the increasing crisis of digital disinformation and cyberbullying, which reflects a systemic decline in communication ethics within online ecosystems. It aims to reconceptualize Hadith-based communication ethics as a pedagogical framework in Islamic education to address these challenges. The study employs a qualitative library research method through thematic analysis of Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. The findings identify three main prophetic communication principles: justice (al-‘adl), contextual appropriateness (al-maqām), and tolerance (al-hanifiyyah as-samhah). The main contribution of this study is the formulation of “Prophetic Digital Ethics,” an integrative framework that operationalizes classical Hadith values into digital communication governance. This framework is implemented through pedagogical strategies such as digital case analysis, cyber-conflict simulation, and counter-narrative training to strengthen verification literacy and ethical discourse. The study concludes that prophetic communication ethics provide a strong normative and pedagogical foundation for mitigating misinformation, online hate, and cyberbullying, while fostering ethical, critical, responsible, and socio-religiously moderate digital citizenship.
