Abstract

Abstract

Waste is still a big problem, especially plastic waste which is difficult to recycle because people still think with the old pattern that throwing it on beaches and rivers is enough to make the waste disappear. One of the things that must be done to overcome this problem is to manage waste. Waste management is a problem that has not been resolved properly. Tanjung Luar village is one of the densely populated villages, which causes a lot of waste to be produced. Therefore, in the PMD Community Service Program at the University of Mataram, a group of youth waste managers was formed to help Tanjung Luar Village in managing existing waste. This program is also assisted by several companion programs, such as making trash cans and transporting waste. The KKN Team hopes that by holding this activity, it will increase the community's understanding of the importance of increasing the knowledge and awareness of the Tanjung Luar Village community regarding the negative impacts and dangers of waste on health, increase the sense of environmental and health awareness regarding waste disposal behavior.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the species diversity of gastropods in the Bale Mangrove Ecotourism Area, Jerowaru, East Lombok. A descriptive-exploratory method was applied using transect-quadrat sampling at three observation stations. At each station, a 100 meter transect line was established, running perpendicular to the coastline. Along each transect, there quadrat plots measuring 5×5 meters were placed alternately at set intervals. Each quadrat was further divided into four sub-quadrants to facilitate detailed recording of individual distribution and abudance. Data were analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H'), evenness index (E), and dominance index (C). The results identified 17 gastropod species from 11 families with a total of 1,194 individuals. The highest diversity was recorded at Station III (H’ = 1.32), while the lowest was found at Station I (H’ = 0.74). Station I also showed the highest dominance index (C = 0.70), indicating strong dominance by Terebralia sulcata. In conclusion, gastropod diversity in the area was categorized as moderate and influenced by environmental factors such as substrate type and pH levels. These findings provide baseline information on the ecological condition of the mangrove ecosystem and highlight the importance of habitat management to support the sustainability of gastropod communities.

Abstract

Excessive use of antibiotics in treating infectious diseases has caused some bacteria to become resistant. Therefore, it is hoped that the use of natural ingredients such as cloves can be an alternative solution in reducing excessive use of antibiotics. This study aims to test the inhibitory effect and minimum killing power of clove flower oil (Aromatic syzygum) with water as a solvent against Staphylococcus aureus. In determining the inhibition zone, the diffusion disk method was used. Meanwhile, determining the Minimum Kill Ability (MKA) uses the liquid tube dilution method. The results showed that an increase in the concentration of clove flower extract was followed by an increase in the inhibition zone in the media with the isolate Staphylococcus aureus. Meanwhile, in measuring the Minimum Kill Ability, the results showed that the MKA value of clove leaf extract against bacteria Staphylococcus aureus smaller than 5%. This shows that only a 5% concentration of clove leaf extract is enough to inhibit growth Staphylococcus aureus. These findings indicate the potential of clove leaf extract as an antimicrobial agent for bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. So it is hoped that natural ingredients will be able to reduce excessive use of antibiotics.

Abstract

Mangroves are a type of plant that grows in coastal areas and river estuaries, and are often exposed to sea tides. The mangrove ecosystem has an important role for the life of the biota along the ecosystem, such as shrimp. Therefore, the aim of this research is to assess the composition of shrimp associated with mangroves in the Lembar coast of West Lombok. Mangrove data were collected using transect and quadrant methods, while shrimp data was collected using seser nets. Next, data analysis was carried out descriptively and the relationship between shrimp density and mangrove density was analyzed using Pearson correlation. The results of the research found four species of shrimp, including Penaeus merguiensis, Penaeus monodon, Alpheus sp, and Litopenaeus vannamei. Apart from that, six mangrove species were found, including Avicennia alba, Avicennia marina, Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata, Rhizophora stylosa and Sonneratia alba. Furthermore, the shrimp density value on the Sheet coast is 1756 ind/ha/year, while the mangrove density value is 0.382 ind/m2. The relationship between shrimp and mangroves is based on Pearson correlation analysis, r2 value = 0.699. The conclusion of this research is that the level of correlation between shrimp density and mangrove density in the Lembar coast is in the medium category.

Abstract

The Population structure is the individuals within a population that can be grouped based on specific characteristics, such as age groups or age stratification, such as prereproductive, reproductive, and postreproductive stages. This study aims to assess the population structure of Echinoderms on the southern coast of East Lombok based on average size and determine association types. Data collection was conducted using the quadrant transect method. Subsequently, data analysis included average size values of Echinoderms, Association Index, and abundance (Di). The study identified eight species totaling 726 individuals across seven families. Among them, the species with the highest number of individuals in the Poton Bako area was Protoreaster nododus (27.82% of total individuals). Meanwhile, the species with the lowest number of individuals on Pantai Lungkak was Ophiocoma scolopendrina (0.55% of total individuals). The highest abundance value (Di) was found for Protoreaster nodosus at Poton Bako (0.20 ind/m2), while the lowest (Di) was found for Ophiocoma scolopendrina at Pantai Lungkak (0.00 ind/m2). The species with the longest average size was Synapta maculata (24.50±6.21 cm), included in reproductive stratification, and the smallest average size was for Ophiocoma scolopenderina (1.33±0.12 cm), included in reproductive stratification. There was an association of Echinoderms with seagrass beds, with a positive association observed in the Poton Bako area and a negative association observed in Pantai Lungkak.
