Abstract

The government has announced plans to move the national capital (IKN) to East Kalimantan Province and this was agreed at the DPR RI Plenary Meeting in early 2022. The aim of this research is to analyze disparities in income & economic potential between Regency/City regions in the IKN region of East Kalimantan Province. The data used in this research uses secondary data from 2017-2022. The analytical tools used are the Williamson Index, Location Quotient and Shift Share Analysis and Klassen Typology. The software used for analysis is Microsoft Excel 2010. The research results show that the Williamson Index figure in East Kalimantan Province for the last five years is 0.473, indicating that the value is in the medium level inequality category. Meanwhile, the classification of regions based on region uses the Klassen Typology with a regional approach divided into: Developed and fast growing regions, West Kutai Regency and East Kutai Regency; Developed but depressed areas, namely Bontang City and Kutai Kartanegara Regency; Areas that are developing quickly but are not advanced, namely, Balikpapan City, Samarinda City, Berau Regency and Mahakam Ulu Regency; The relatively underdeveloped areas are Paser Regency and North Penajam Paser Regency. Research results based on LQ analysis state that there are 2 cities that have the largest total base sectors, namely Balikpapan and Samarinda. If you look at the shift share analysis with indicators for assessing regional share growth components in East Kalimantan Province, there are 7 sectors that have positive values, and there are only 3 sectors that still have negative values.

Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic, which lasted from 2020 to 2022, has affected the global economy. Activity restrictions had hampered the progress of various business sectors. As a result, there was a decline in economic growth globally. There was even an economic contraction of -13.7% in 2020 and many businesses experienced either setbacks or bankruptcies. Indonesia’s government made various recovery efforts, such as business assistance through village-owned enterprises (BUMDes) activities and capital assistance for MSMEs in the form of people’s business credit (Kredit Usaha Rakyat/KUR). Various trainings and assistance were conducted, but these activities focused more on reporting and administration of funds. The establishment of BUMDes mainly aims to improve the villages’ economy. The selection of BUMDes' mainstay business is highly important to realize the smooth running of the business chosen. For this reason, it is necessary to conduct training on how to select of the mainstay business and calculate the feasibility of the business chosen to be developed so that BUMDes and MSME actors can manage and develop their business properly. The selection can use SWOT analysis, namely by analyzing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the potential business options. In this community services activity, BUMDes and MSME training was held in Bogorejo Village, Pesawaran Regency, Lampung Province. The results of SWOT analysis reveal that the feasible business options are digital financial services (BRI-Link), agricultural trading (waserda), and waste collection and waste bank. Waserda business aims to help market the local community's products. Waste management business economically generates small profits, but has long-term positive effects, both environmentally and socially. Meanwhile, tourism park and savings and loan are considered not feasible in the long-term, as these businesses are susceptible to bottlenecks and large losses so that they must be managed very carefully.

Abstract

A decrease in a country's export prices and foreign exchange reserves is symptomatic of exchange rate market pressures, which would be described as an oversupply or disequilibrium in the money market. The method used in this study is the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) to investigate Exchange Market Pressure (EMP) in Indonesia. This study utilizes secondary data obtained from Statistics Indonesia and Bank Indonesia (BI) website since 2008Q1-2021Q4. The findings of this study demonstrate a strong positive long-term relationship between domestic credit growth and the BI rate, a large negative long-term relationship between GDP growth and the BI rate, and no significant relationship between the current account balance and the exchange rate.

Abstract

The aim of APEC cooperation is to promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth, as well as enhance cooperation and economic integration among its members. This study aims to analyze the influence of economic freedom, foreign direct investment, international trade, labor force, inflation, and the Covid-19 pandemic on economic growth in the 19 APEC member countries using multiple linear regression method. This research examines the impact of economic freedom, foreign direct investment, international trade, labor force, inflation, and the Covid-19 pandemic on economic growth. The analysis results indicate that economic freedom, although important, may have limited impact in weak institutional settings. Conversely, foreign direct investment and international trade have proven to have significant positive effects by bringing capital, technology, and innovation as well as enhancing economic efficiency. Moreover, skilled labor force and controlled inflation also support economic growth. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused serious disruptions by disrupting supply chains, decreasing demand, and creating economic uncertainty, highlighting the importance of economic resilience and public health. These findings emphasize the importance of policies supporting these factors to drive sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

Poverty is still a problem in many developing countries, including Indonesia, especially in eastern Indonesia, such as East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, West Papua, and Papua. Based on Statistic Indonesia data, the poverty rate in the east of Indonesia shows a downward trend but is still well above the national average. This raises questions about the achievements of poverty alleviation programs. To overcome this problem, the government has created several programs to alleviate poverty. These programs include increasing social assistance, improving access to essential services, empowering communities, and promoting inclusive development. This study aims to measure the ability of poverty alleviation programs to reduce poverty levels in Eastern Indonesia. This study uses the Blundell-Bond System GMM (Sys-GMM) analysis technique to measure these programs' short-run and long-run effects. This study used secondary data from official institutions such as Statistics Indonesia and the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. The data collected includes the government budget for social assistance, average years of schooling, life expectancy, human development index, and Gini ratio. Based on the results obtained in this study during the research period from 2010 to 2022, it shows that (1) the government budget in the field of social protection as a proxy for social assistance programs has no significant effect on poverty, (2) the average length of schooling as a proxy for programs to improve access to essential services in the field of education has no effect on poverty, (3) life expectancy as a proxy for programs to improve essential services in the health sector significantly reduces poverty, community empowerment programs and inclusive development proxied by (4) the human development index has no significant effect on poverty, and (5) the Gini ratio has a significant effect on poverty.
