Abstract

Indonesia according to data from the minister of economy that in the fourth quarter of 2022 economic growth has grown by 5.01% (yoy). In the full year, Indonesia's economic growth throughout 2022 was recorded to have experienced impressive growth of 5.31%. This figure exceeded the target set by the Government of Indonesia, which was 5.2%, and again reached the level of 5% as before the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on these problems, it is necessary to know what factors affect the economic growth of each province in Indonesia in 2022. The purpose of this study is to find out what factors affect the economic growth rate in Indonesia in 2022. A regression analysis of the effect of HDI, UMP and unemployment rate on the growth rate of GDP at constant prices in each province in Indonesia was carried out in 2022. This study used a quantitative approach and Cross Section data type with secondary data obtained from the BPS Website. The method used is Ordinary Least Squared. The conclusion obtained is that HDI, minimum wage and unemployment rate do not have a significant effect on economic growth, but the minimum wage can have a positive effect on the economic growth of each province in Indonesia in 2022. With Test F showing that in 2022, HDI, UMP and unemployment rate simultaneously (together) have no significant effect on economic growth. The variation of HDI, UMP, and unemployment rate, according to the coefficient of determination (R-Square), is only able to contribute 4.31% to Indonesia's economic growth in 2022

Abstract

The government has announced plans to move the national capital (IKN) to East Kalimantan Province and this was agreed at the DPR RI Plenary Meeting in early 2022. The aim of this research is to analyze disparities in income & economic potential between Regency/City regions in the IKN region of East Kalimantan Province. The data used in this research uses secondary data from 2017-2022. The analytical tools used are the Williamson Index, Location Quotient and Shift Share Analysis and Klassen Typology. The software used for analysis is Microsoft Excel 2010. The research results show that the Williamson Index figure in East Kalimantan Province for the last five years is 0.473, indicating that the value is in the medium level inequality category. Meanwhile, the classification of regions based on region uses the Klassen Typology with a regional approach divided into: Developed and fast growing regions, West Kutai Regency and East Kutai Regency; Developed but depressed areas, namely Bontang City and Kutai Kartanegara Regency; Areas that are developing quickly but are not advanced, namely, Balikpapan City, Samarinda City, Berau Regency and Mahakam Ulu Regency; The relatively underdeveloped areas are Paser Regency and North Penajam Paser Regency. Research results based on LQ analysis state that there are 2 cities that have the largest total base sectors, namely Balikpapan and Samarinda. If you look at the shift share analysis with indicators for assessing regional share growth components in East Kalimantan Province, there are 7 sectors that have positive values, and there are only 3 sectors that still have negative values.

Abstract

Cooperatives are one of the Soko guru of the national economy. If this soko guru is good, it will suit the country’s economic system and vice versa. If the soko guru is damaged, it will affect the whole national economic order. The cooperative economy prioritizes mutual aid for the welfare of members and the wider community. Knowledge about the economy based on local potential and the pattern of the national economy, namely the cooperative economy, must begin to be grounded to the millennial generation who will continue the struggle. Noting these problems, the Faculty of Economics, through the implementation team of Heru Wahyudi, felt called to carry out a community service activity by collaborating with LP2M Lampung University and managing the At-Tarbiyah Mosque. The action in question was entitled Cooperative Economic Counseling for Millennial Generation which took place on Thursday, October 3, 2019, with a total of 30 participants—presentation of material by speakers in the form of lectures, discussions, questions, and answers. The material presented included an introduction to the economic basis of cooperatives, member participation, and cooperative formation procedures, as well as the characteristics of Indonesian cooperatives, which were successfully absorbed well by 90% of participants with A grades and the rest with B grades.

Abstract

Economic growth disparities between Western and Eastern Indonesia remain a major challenge in achieving equitable national development. Based on data from the Statistics Indonesia (BPS, 2024), Indonesia’s economic growth increased from –2.07 percent in 2020 to 3.69 percent in 2021, 5.31 percent in 2022, and remained stable at around 5.05 percent in 2023. Although this reflects a solid economic recovery, regional inequality remains evident. Western Indonesia, which includes Sumatra, Java, and parts of Kalimantan, contributes approximately 80 percent to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP), while Eastern Indonesia—comprising Sulawesi, Bali–Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and Papua—accounts for only about 20 percent. This imbalance illustrates differences in investment distribution and labor capacity between the two regions. The study aims to analyze the influence of investment and labor on economic growth in both the western and eastern regions during the 2020–2024 period. The research employs a quantitative approach using annual panel data from all provinces in both regions, and applies the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) with robust standard errors to address potential violations of classical assumptions. The results indicate that in the western region, both investment and labor have a positive and significant effect on economic growth. In contrast, in the eastern region, only labor shows a significant influence, while investment does not have a statistically significant impact.

Abstract

Fossil-based electricity consumption in Indonesia has continued to rise in recent years, driven by accelerated economic growth, expansion of the industrial and commercial sectors, and increasing household income levels. This strong reliance on fossil energy has contributed to higher carbon emissions and heightened vulnerability to supply instability. Therefore, understanding the key determinants of electricity consumption is essential for supporting Indonesia’s national energy transition agenda toward a more sustainable energy system. This study aims to examine the influence of the industrial sector, commercial sector, and income level on fossil-based electricity consumption in Indonesia during the 2019–2023 period. The study employs panel data analysis using the Random Effect Model (REM). This model was selected through the Chow test, Hausman test, and Lagrange Multiplier test, all of which indicated that REM provides the most efficient estimation for accommodating variations across provinces and years. The data were obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), PT PLN, and other relevant official publications. The results reveal that the industrial sector, commercial sector, and income level all exert a positive and significant effect on electricity consumption. Industrial and commercial activities represent the primary drivers of rising national electricity demand, while increases in per capita income contribute to greater household electricity use. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.7201) demonstrates that the model has strong explanatory power in describing interprovincial variations in fossil-based electricity consumption. These findings highlight Indonesia’s continued dependence on fossil energy, underscoring the need to accelerate renewable energy adoption and improve energy efficiencyas strategic steps to support the national energy transition.

Abstract

Village development plays a crucial role in driving regional economic growth. The implementation of the Village Law has accelerated development in rural areas, though inequality remains a major challenge. One way to address this issue is by identifying growth center villages through comprehensive analysis. This study uses a descriptive-analytical approach covering 116 villages in Pesisir Barat Regency. The objective is to identify villages that act as growth centers and hinterlands, helping to highlight areas with high development intensity. Three methods are used: scalogram analysis, centralization index, and the TOPSIS method. Scalogram analysis identified 6 growth center villages and 6 hinterland villages. The centralization index revealed 4 service center villages and 3 hinterland villages, with most villages classified as very underdeveloped in terms of facilities. Using the TOPSIS method, the study found that only 7% of villages had high development intensity, while the majority had moderate levels. These findings emphasize the need for a more balanced distribution and improvement of village facilities, particularly those that can stimulate broader economic impacts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of economic and social factors on household expenditure in Lampung Province using a quantile regression approach. The data used is from Susenas 2024, including the variables of per capita income, the education level of the head of household, and the area of residence. The results of the analysis show that the influence of the three variables is heterogeneous throughout the distribution of expenses. Per capita income has a negative and significant effect on the lower quantile, indicating a tendency to save or consume limited in low-income households. In contrast, education shows a positive and increasingly greater influence on the upper quantile, confirming the role of education in increasing consumption capacity. The area of residence also has a significant effect, where households in urban areas tend to have higher expenditures than rural areas. These findings confirm the importance of the quantile regression approach in understanding the dynamics of household consumption more comprehensively, as well as encouraging the formulation of more inclusive development policies based on local characteristics.
