Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Domestic Investment (PMDN), economic agglomeration, and Human Development Index (HDI) on regional inequality in 12 eastern Indonesian provinces during the 2019-2023 period. Regional inequality is measured using the Williamson Index, which reflects the level of economic inequality between regions. The analysis method used is panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The results show that FDI and agglomeration have a positive and significant influence on regional inequality, meaning that increased investment and concentration of economic activity can actually widen the gap if not balanced with equalization policies. Meanwhile, HDI has a negative and significant effect, indicating that improving people's quality of life can reduce regional inequality. The model has a coefficient of determination of 94.29%, which indicates that the three independent variables make a large contribution in explaining the variation in inter-regional inequality. These findings provide an important basis for the government to formulate more inclusive and equitable development policies in eastern Indonesi

Abstract

Kondisi makroekonomi suatu negara tidak dapat dipisahkan dari kebijakan moneter negara tersebut. Mekanisme transmisi kebijakan moneter memberikan penjelasan mengenai bagaimana perubahan instrumen kebijakan moneter dapat mempengaruhi variabel makro ekonomi lainnya hingga terwujud sasaran akhir kebijakan moneter yakni pertumbuhan ekonomi.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to analyze the short-term impact of Chinese Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), government expenditure, and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) based on expenditure on Indonesia's economic growth amid global uncertainty during the 2010–2024 period. A quantitative approach was employed using time series regression with the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method. Prior to model estimation, data were tested for stationarity using the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test. The results show that simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly influence economic growth. Partially, Chinese FDI has a positive and marginally significant effect, government expenditure shows a significant negative impact, while household consumption-based GDP exerts a strong and statistically significant positive influence on Indonesia's economic growth. These findings highlight the critical role of domestic consumption and effective government spending in promoting growth, as well as the need to enhance the quality of foreign investment. Keywords: Chinese FDI, economic growth, government expenditure, consumption.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the determinants of renewable energy consumption in Indonesia, focusing on Gross Domestic Product (GDP), energy subsidies (SUB), urban population (POPs), and carbon dioxide (CO?) emissions over the period 1990–2023. Research methodology: A quantitative descriptive approach is applied using time series data from 1990 to 2023. The analysis combines the Error Correction Model (ECM) to capture short-term dynamics and long-term equilibrium, and Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression for estimating the relationships between variables. Results: In the short term, GDP and urban population exhibit a positive but insignificant effect on renewable energy consumption, while energy subsidies have a negative and significant effect. CO? emissions show a positive and significant effect. In the long term, GDP and CO? emissions maintain a positive and significant impact, energy subsidies remain negative and significant, and urban population continues to have a positive but insignificant influence. Simultaneous testing confirms that GDP, energy subsidies, urban population, and CO? emissions collectively influence renewable energy consumption in Indonesia. Conclusions: The findings highlight the importance of economic growth and environmental pressures in driving renewable energy use, while energy subsidies negatively impact its adoption. Limitations: The study is limited to four independent variables and does not account for technological innovation or policy changes beyond energy subsidies. Contribution: This research provides empirical evidence for policymakers to design strategies promoting renewable energy consumption, emphasizing economic growth, emission control, and subsidy reform.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the feasibility of corn farming in Ruguk Village, Ketapang District, South Lampung Regency. As an agricultural country, Indonesia has an agricultural sector that plays an important role in the economy, where corn is one of the strategic commodities. This study was conducted using a non-discounted business feasibility analysis method, which includes analysis of income, costs, and profits from corn farming. The results of the study showed that the income from corn farming in Ruguk Village was positive and had the potential to be developed. From the feasibility analysis, the Benefit Cost Ratio (B/C Ratio) value was 2.54, which indicates that every Rp 1 of costs incurred produces a net benefit of Rp 2.54. In addition, the Break Even Point (BEP) in terms of quantity was 4,506.7 kg, and the Return On Investment (ROI) reached 153.3%, which indicates that corn farming in this village is feasible to be further developed. This study is expected to provide information and input for farmers and the government in developing corn farming businesses, as well as improving the welfare of the community in Ruguk Village.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of information and communication technology skills, access to information and communication technology (ICT access), and investment in BTS tower construction infrastructure on labor productivity in Indonesia during the period 2017 to 2023. The data used in the form of data panels from 34 provinces in Indonesia were analyzed using the panel data regression method. The results of the study show that ICT access and investment in BTS tower construction have a positive and significant effect on labor productivity. However, ICT skills do not show a statistically significant influence. The independent variables together are able to explain 99% of the changes in labor productivity in Indonesia. These findings affirm the importance of developing infrastructure and equitable access to ICT as the key to increasing productivity, as well as the need to improve the quality of education and training to strengthen the digital skills of the workforce. This research provides policy recommendations to accelerate the development of digital infrastructure and ICT capability improvement programs to support national productivity growth

Abstract

This study is intended to analyze TPAK, Population, and HDI on poverty in Indonesia during the 2019–2024 period. Poverty is understood as a multidimensional phenomenon in economic, social, and human development aspects. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach with a panel data regression analysis method for 34 provinces in Indonesia. The results of data processing showed that partially, TPAK had a positive and significant effect on poverty, which means that increasing labor participation does not necessarily reduce poverty, especially if it is not accompanied by adequate quality of work. The population variable did not have a significant effect, indicating that population size was not the main factor in explaining the variation in poverty between regions. Meanwhile, HDI shows a negative and significant influence on poverty, which proves that the higher the quality of human development, the lower the poverty rate. These findings support Ragnar Nurkse's (1953) theory of the poverty circle, which states that human resource underdevelopment and low productivity are the root causes of recurring poverty. This study recommends that poverty alleviation efforts be focused on improving the quality of human resources and creating productive jobs.

Abstract

This study analyzes the competitiveness and main challenges faced by Indonesia's Crude Palm Oil (CPO) exports to the European market using a quantitative approach using the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and Export Competitiveness Index (XCI) methods. Secondary data during the period 2009-2023 was obtained from UN Comrade for four main destination countries, namely the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, and Spain. The results of the RCA analysis show a significant decrease in the comparative advantage of Indonesian CPO in all export destination countries. XCI's analysis indicates high volatility in export competitiveness with value fluctuations between 0.93-1.08. This decline in competitiveness is due to the evolution of increasingly stringent sustainability regulations, increased competition from alternative suppliers, and changing market preferences for sustainable products. This study recommends the development of a strategy for diversifying high-value-added products, the implementation of an integrated sustainable certification system, and the transformation of the CPO industry towards more sustainable practices to maintain competitiveness in the European market.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of renewable energy, inflation, manufacturing value added, and exports on Gross National Income (GNI) per capita in Indonesia as part of the effort to escape the middle-income trap. The study uses annual time series data from 1987 to 2023 and applies the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) for analysis. The long-term estimation results show that renewable energy and manufacturing value added have a positive and significant effect on GNI per capita, while inflation has a negative and significant effect. Exports show a positive but statistically insignificant effect, likely due to the dominance of commodity-based exports. In the short term, renewable energy has a consistently positive and significant effect across all lags. Inflation has a significant negative effect only in the first lag, while exports show a negative effect in the second lag. Manufacturing value added does not have a significant short-term effect. The significant error correction coefficient (CointEq1) of -0.879844 indicates a strong adjustment mechanism, suggesting that the model tends to return to long-term equilibrium rapidly after short-term shocks. These findings suggest that clean energy transition, strengthening of the manufacturing sector, and inflation control are strategic factors in increasing national income and avoiding the middle-income trap.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of open unemployment and inflation on the growth of the middle-class population in Indonesia. This relationship is crucial as it can significantly impact a country's overall economic conditions. The variables observed include the middle-class population, open unemployment, and inflation. The data used are time series data spanning from 1994 to 2023. The analytical methods employed consist of data stationarity tests, Johansen cointegration tests, the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), Impulse Response Function (IRF), and Variance Decomposition. The results indicate that, in the long term, open unemployment and inflation have a significant impact on the growth of the middle-class population in Indonesia. Inflation has a negative effect, suggesting that rising inflation can hinder middle-class growth due to a decline in purchasing power and economic welfare. Conversely, open unemployment exerts a positive influence, which may reflect structural dynamics in the labor market and changes in income patterns within society. However, in the short term, neither inflation nor open unemployment has a significant impact on the growth of the middle-class population. The equilibrium adjustment analysis reveals that inflation plays a critical role in correcting deviations toward long-term equilibrium, whereas open unemployment does not significantly contribute to this process. This study underscores the importance of controlling inflation and creating quality employment opportunities to support the growth of the middle class in Indonesia.
