Abstract

The prevalence of stunting is above 20%, indicating a significant health problem in Indonesia. This research aims to identify the predictors influencing stunting on the island of Java and to map its distribution using Geo Maps Orange data mining. Data analysis employs multiple linear regression methods with cross-sectional data. Secondary data was obtained from the Badan Pusat Statistik and the Nutrition Status Survey in 2022. The data was processed using Eviews 10 and Geo Maps Orange data mining. The results show that stunting is influenced by various variables. The Human Development Index (HDI) and proper sanitation have a significant negative influence on stunting. Based on mapping, Central Java Province has the highest incidence of stunting, while DKI Jakarta has the lowest incidence on the island of Java. Stakeholders can use this information to promote better parenting patterns, health hygiene practices, affection or compassion practices, and the implementation of clean water sanitation programs to create quality environmental conditions and mitigate the threat of infectious diseases, especially stunting

Abstract

Intensity of coastal hazards driven by changes in climate and land use have been increasing in many parts of Indonesia, including Tarakan City, where 36% of the population lives near the coast. The purpose of this study is to determine the value of the WTP and identify the factors that affect the WTP of coastal communities in an effort to overcome the impact of beach abrasion in Tarakan City. The analytical methods used in calculating people's willingness to pay in an effort to overcome the impact of beach abrasion are the Willingness to Pay (WTP) method and multiple linear regression. The results of this study are known to mean that the public's willingness to pay is IDR 61,075. Based on the results of multiple regression analysis, the income variable has a significant effect on the WTP of coastal communities, namely income, age, and education variables, while the number of family members has no significant effect. Also, the coefficient of determination (R2) is 0.2718, or 27.18%, where this value indicates that the variables of income, age, education, and number of family members are able to explain the WTP of coastal communities of 27.18%. While the remaining 72.82% is explained by other variables not included in the regression model. Our findings highlight the value of the community’s willingness to repair coastal hazards through the several scenarios offered. The results indicate an overview of local participation in preserving coastal areas.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to calculate the economic value of mangrove ecosystems and estimate the average Willingness to Pay (WTP) of the community in Sekotong Tengah Village. Data were collected through observations and interviews with the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) using the Double-Bounded Dichotomous Choice (DBDC) approach to 100 household respondents. The results showed that the Direct Economic Value (DEV) of mangrove utilization reached IDR 2,790,890,400 per year, while the Indirect Use Value (IUV) derived from ecosystem services was worth IDR 2,845,291,680 per year. The Option Value (OV) is estimated at IDR 2,797,560 per year so that the Total Economic Value (TEV) reaches IDR 6,727,204,152 per year. The estimated average WTP with binary logistic and bivariate probit models were IDR 417,264 (25.17 USD) and IDR 403,452 (24.33 USD) per household per year, respectively. Employment and supply factors negatively affect WTP, while education and income have a positive and significant effect. These results provide insights for mangrove conservation policy and alternative funding for ecosystem protection.

Abstract

The development of Village-Owned Enterprises (VoE) has emerged as a strategic instrument in Indonesia's rural transformation. However, its effectiveness and success remain uneven. This study employed a mixed-methods approach, incorporating stakeholder analysis using the MACTOR (Matrix of Alliances and Conflicts, Tactics, Objectives, and Recommendations) method. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten actors representing the pentahelix collaboration, comprising government, academics, business sector, community, and media representatives. The analysis showed that government actors served as the main drivers. Pioneering VoEs and their communities still rely on external support, while advanced VoEs were more independent and influential. The most supported key objectives among actors were the improvement of managerial skills and the dissemination of best practices in VoE management, while green business initiatives still received limited attention. These findings confirm that the success of VoE development depends on institutional capacity and effective collaboration among actors involved in achieving village economic independence. They also highlight the importance of strengthening stakeholder collaboration to accelerate rural development by aligning economic empowerment with social welfare and environmental responsibility.

Abstract

This study aims to map the distribution of the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Java Island in 2024 and analyze the factors that influence it. Although Java Island is the center of national economic growth, the open unemployment rate in this region is still high and unevenly distributed. The spatial method employed to capture the impact of geographical dependence between areas, which has not been extensively disclosed in prior studies, is what makes this work new. This study utilizes cross-sectional secondary data from 119 districts/cities and is analyzed using classical regression and spatial regression (Spatial Error Model) through GeoDa software. The results show that the variables of district/city minimum wage (UMK), the labor force participation rate (TPAK), and the human development index (IPM) have a significant effect on the open unemployment rate (TPT), while economic growth (PE) and the ratio of the population living in poverty (KEMISKINAN) do not have a significant effect. The findings also indicate a strong spatial autocorrelation, suggesting that the unemployment condition in a region is influenced by its surrounding regions. This study concludes that unemployment in Java is more influenced by structural factors than macroeconomic growth. Therefore, unemployment reduction policies should be regional, focus on improving the quality of human resources, and consider spatial interrelationships between regions.
