Abstract

This study aims to calculate the economic value of mangrove ecosystems and estimate the average Willingness to Pay (WTP) of the community in Sekotong Tengah Village. Data were collected through observations and interviews with the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) using the Double-Bounded Dichotomous Choice (DBDC) approach to 100 household respondents. The results showed that the Direct Economic Value (DEV) of mangrove utilization reached IDR 2,790,890,400 per year, while the Indirect Use Value (IUV) derived from ecosystem services was worth IDR 2,845,291,680 per year. The Option Value (OV) is estimated at IDR 2,797,560 per year so that the Total Economic Value (TEV) reaches IDR 6,727,204,152 per year. The estimated average WTP with binary logistic and bivariate probit models were IDR 417,264 (25.17 USD) and IDR 403,452 (24.33 USD) per household per year, respectively. Employment and supply factors negatively affect WTP, while education and income have a positive and significant effect. These results provide insights for mangrove conservation policy and alternative funding for ecosystem protection.

Abstract

Waste is a national problem in Indonesia. It is related to the old paradigm of waste management, which is only collected, transported, and disposed to the landfill. The same problem occurs in some big cities in Java. Landfills use open dumps, and that causes an increase in negative externalities in the quality of the environment for people who live nearby. This study aims to analyze the externalities of the Piyungan landfill. The objects of this research are the people who lived around the dump. Cost of illness and replacement cost are analysis tools to calculate the externalities. Benefit transfer is used to analyze the externalities ofthe Putri Cempo landfill in Surakarta. The benefit transfer method was developed as an alternative way to value externalities using values from studies of similar circumstances, carried out at related sites somewhere else, given the challenges and high costs inherent in assessing the actual price. Accurately, to test the performance of the benefit transfer method, this study focused on estimates of externalities associated with waste dis-amenities. The results indicate that the existence of the Piyungan landfill has a negative influence on the economic and social aspects as well as the environment of the people around it. It also happens in the Putri Cempo Landfill.

Abstract

This study seeks to present a better understanding of knowledge about the circular economy by referring to literature studies in developed and developing countries during the observation period from 2006 to 2022. This study provides an overview of the bibliometric approach: time analysis, journal analysis, co-authorship analysis, keyword analysis, citation analysis, country analysis, and agency analysis. The level of research contribution in developed and developing countries tended to be low until 2016, increasing significantly in recent years. Keyword analysis reveals that Circular Economy has the highest contribution in 2019 for developed countries and in 2020 for developing countries. Then, the citation analysis shows that "Towards a National Circular Economy Indicator System in China: An Evaluation and Critical Analysis" has the highest citation. And China became the number one country for its contribution to circular economy publications globally. This study suggests that developed and developing countries collectively have a deeper understanding of the circular economy concept for sustainable green economic growth globally.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze whether world governance indicators can reduce greenhouse gas emissions in ASEAN countries. The data used is panel data of 11 ASEAN member countries in the period 2013 – 2020 with justifications before and after the Paris Agreement with panel regression methods and mapping using orange data mining geo maps. Empirical results show that political stability no violence, government effectiveness, corruption control, and the implementation of the Paris Agreement are able to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions. It was concluded that the success of the Paris Agreement will occur when committed countries dare to carry out economic transformation. However, to achieve this, significant adjustments are needed, and all parties must have a uniform vision for achieving the net zero carbon target.
