Abstract

The development of beef cattle operations is conducted cohesively and sustainably within the livestock industry, considering socio-cultural, technical, economic, and ecological factors. It also fosters investment, business expansion, and job creation, and improves farmers' welfare. This research aims to design a strategic program to strengthen corporate institutions for beef cattle at the D'Reppa Cow House, Gowa Regency. This research used a survey method with interviews. Primary data was obtained through interviews with informants/experts using questionnaires and analyzed using Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) to formulate complexity, hierarchy (levels), and classification between elements. The results of this research show that the ten sub-elements of the strategic program for strengthening beef cattle livestock corporations at the D'Reppa Cow House, Gowa Regency, are divided into four quadrants.  The strategic program design for the institutional strengthening of beef cattle livestock corporations is establishing a research and development base camp for beef cattle farming businesses based on livestock corporations. The research has limitations in terms of data collection constrained to informants difficult to find so data collection is not optimal, in addition, farmers still do not know about massive livestock corporations. Future research is expected to pay attention to the shortcomings of this study in the aspect of data collection and determining responses

Abstract

Agricultural businesses, including beef cattle farming, are prone to risks and losses. Partnerships provide many benefits and reduce the risk of business losses through market assurance, added value, and an increased portfolio of productive assets. The Bali cattle cluster is a place of centralized development in cattle breeding to enhance high competitiveness. The study aims to build a partnership model for managing the risk of the Bali cattle business in the Bali cattle purification cluster. The research used a survey method with a descriptive qualitative approach. The results showed two partnership models in the research location: the partnership of the livestock company and the traditional partnership. Business cooperation is established in partnership with farmers by dividing profits among 50% farmers, 45% companies, and 5% farmer-livestock groups. As for traditional partnerships, farmers and owners get 50% of the profits each. So, the two business models of beef cattle farming have advantages and disadvantages. The partnership system has a good impact on farmers in managing their business risks because farmers feel helped by these two partnerships in the research location, especially for farmers who still have minimal business capital in the Bali cattle business. Future research will be maximized if it increases the number of respondents and the size of the research area to detect agricultural partnership patterns in rural areas.

Abstract

Collecting traders in Wamena play a crucial role in enhancing farmers' welfare. This study explores how these traders can boost the availability of organic vegetables while adapting to local conditions. The research identifies challenges, opportunities, and best practices specific to Wamena, using a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews and participatory observations of farmers and collectors. Collecting traders act as a key link between rural farmers and urban consumers, directly collecting harvests from fields. They also manage post-harvest tasks such as sorting, classifying, and packaging to ensure quality. However, several obstacles hinder their full potential. Limited infrastructure, such as poor road access, presents a significant challenge, as does the lack of capital for buying large quantities and maintaining stock. The use of traditional measurement units like tokens leads to inaccurate weight estimates, disadvantaging both farmers and traders. Additionally, high shipping costs burden traders and reduce their profit margins. To optimize the role of collecting traders, improvements in service quality, market network expansion, and vegetable distribution are needed. Addressing these challenges will help enhance the welfare of farmers, ensure the availability of quality organic vegetables, and meet consumer demand in Wamena. Improving distribution methods for organic vegetables is essential to support this goal.

Abstract

The main problem is how natural resource management, especially forests, can improve community welfare without compromising environmental sustainability. This study aims to analyze the role of natural resource capital in supporting sustainable livelihoods in the social forest area of Enrekang Regency and evaluate the social and economic impacts of the social forestry program implemented in the area. The research method used is a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with communities and relevant stakeholders and analysis of relevant secondary data. The research findings show that the social forestry program provides positive impacts through increased income, food security, and employment opportunities for the community. However, there are still challenges in the form of a lack of technical knowledge and dependence on illegal logging practices. This research makes a new contribution by exploring the potential for collaboration between the government, communities, and non-governmental organizations in sustainable social forest management. In conclusion, the success of social forest management is highly dependent on strengthening community capacity and implementing environmentally friendly forestry practices. The policy implication of this finding is the importance of government support in providing technical training and supervision of social forestry programs. The recommendation for future research is to conduct further studies on the long-term impact of the agroforestry program in improving economic and environmental sustainability in social forest areas.

Abstract

Abstract

The Social Forestry Program is a community participation-based initiative for sustainable forest management, aimed at reducing poverty, protecting the environment, and improving farmers' welfare. This study aims to analyze the program's socio-economic impacts on farmer households in Enrekang District, South Sulawesi, focusing on 12 villages in 10 sub-districts. Mixed methods (quantitative and quantitative) were used through surveys, interviews, and observations of 372 respondents, including farmers, community leaders, and government representatives. Results show that participation in Social Forestry contributes to increased income, especially through superior commodities such as shallots and brown rice, as well as economic diversification such as dairy farming (dangke). However, challenges such as gender inequality (male dominant: 87.4%), limited market access, and climate change impacts still hinder the optimization of the program. Respondents' characteristics are dominated by productive age (40-61 years: 63.9%) with secondary education (SMA: 31.5%), while the average family size is 3-4 people (45.4%). The study highlights the importance of locally-based approaches, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and inclusive policies to strengthen program sustainability. The findings recommend strengthening farmers' capacity through training, increasing access to capital, and policy synergy to support sustainable livelihoods while maintaining forest ecosystems.
