Abstract

This research examines the role of Islamic education based on the Jamaah Tabligh movement in shaping the character of patience among its followers. Patience is one of the fundamental values in Islam that plays a crucial role in shaping a resilient Muslim personality capable of facing various life challenges. Jamaah Tabligh, as a global Islamic missionary movement, has a distinctive educational method that emphasizes direct practice through the khuruj (going out for missionary work) program. This research aims to analyze the concept of patience character education from the perspective of Islamic education, identify the educational model applied by Jamaah Tabligh, and evaluate the effectiveness of this method in shaping the character of patience. The approach used is qualitative with a descriptive-analytical method, collecting data through observation, interviews with followers, and document studies. The results show that Jamaah Tabligh implements patience character education through several main strategies: regular worship during khuruj, learning to obey decisions resulting from consultations, learning the stories of the prophets and companions, direct experience in challenging missionary work, and a continuous mentoring system. The khuruj program serves as a practical laboratory that trains patience in facing rejection, material limitations, and adaptation to new environments. The internalization of the value of patience is manifested through dhikr (remembrance of God), mudzakarah (discussion), obedience to the results of consultations, and the exemplary behavior of the followers. This research concludes that Islamic education based on the Jamaah Tabligh movement has been effective in shaping the character of patience through a holistic approach that integrates spiritual, emotional, and social aspects, emphasizing experiential learning and continuous guidance within a supportive community.

Abstract

The low conceptual understanding and mathematical calculation skills of elementary school students remain a challenge in improving the quality of learning. Uniform and procedural-oriented learning has not fully accommodated differences in student learning readiness, resulting in students having difficulty understanding the meaning of concepts and lacking the skills to perform arithmetic operations accurately and confidently. Although differentiated learning has been widely studied theoretically, empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of differentiated learning-based learning readiness processes on these two aspects is still limited. This study aims to analyze the effect of differentiated learning on conceptual understanding and mathematical calculation skills of fifth-grade students. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a nonequivalent control group design. The research subjects were 27 students, consisting of 16 students from the experimental class and 11 students from the control class. The research instruments included a conceptual understanding test and a mathematical skills test. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, paired sample t-tests, Wilcoxon tests, and Mann-Whitney tests at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that differentiated learning significantly influenced students' conceptual understanding and mathematical skills (p < 0.05). In addition, there was a positive and significant relationship between conceptual understanding and mathematical skills. These findings indicate that process differentiation based on learning readiness is effective in strengthening conceptual construction while increasing elementary school students' mathematical fluency and accuracy.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the strategies for strengthening students' religious character through habituation, role modeling, and school culture at SDN 1 Aikmual, Praya, Central Lombok. Religious character is one of the fundamental values that should be instilled from the elementary school level as the foundation for developing students' morality, ethics, and behavior in their daily lives. This study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis involving the school principal, teachers, and students. The data were analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the strategies for strengthening students' religious character at SDN 1 Aikmual are implemented through various religious habituation activities integrated into the school's culture. These activities include regular Imtaq (Faith and Piety) programs, the collective recitation of Surah Yasin every Friday, religious lectures, and the memorization of short chapters (surahs) of the Qur'an. In addition, the school organizes an extracurricular Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur'an (TPQ, Qur'anic Learning Center) outside regular Islamic Religious Education classes to enhance students' Qur'anic reading skills and understanding of the Qur'an. During the month of Ramadan, the school implements peer-assisted Qur'anic memorization and recitation activities in which students actively listen to and evaluate one another's memorization and recitation. These activities foster discipline, responsibility, and enthusiasm for learning Islamic teachings. The role-modeling strategy is reflected in teachers' consistent demonstration of religious values in their daily behavior, while the school culture is developed by creating an environment that continuously supports the practice and internalization of religious values. The findings further indicate that the integration of habituation, role modeling, and school culture effectively strengthens students' religious character, as reflected in their improved discipline in performing religious practices, enhanced ability to read and memorize the Qur'an, greater politeness and respect toward others, and stronger awareness of applying religious values in their daily lives. Therefore, these integrated strategies represent an effective model for strengthening religious character in elementary school settings.

Abstract

Principals are educational leaders who play a crucial role in building an effective, professional, and character-based work culture within the school environment. One of the characteristics that principals need to possess and strengthen is discipline, as this character influences the quality of school management, teacher performance, and the achievement of educational goals. However, various challenges in school management, such as suboptimal time management, consistent program implementation, and oversight of task implementation, indicate the need for efforts to strengthen the disciplined character of principals. One strategy that can be implemented is through transformational leadership training oriented towards increasing leadership capacity, exemplary behavior, motivation, and commitment to change. This activity aims to improve the understanding and ability of principals in applying the principles of transformational leadership as a means of strengthening the character of discipline. The training was conducted through a participatory approach that included material delivery, group discussions, case studies, self-reflection, and the development of follow-up plans. Participants were principals in Praya District who were from elementary school education levels. The results of this activity were an increased understanding of the concept of transformational leadership, a growing awareness of the importance of discipline as a core leadership value, and an increased ability to manage time, implement school programs consistently, and serve as role models for the school community. Furthermore, this activity can also encourage the development of a sustainable culture of discipline within the school environment through inspirational leadership practices oriented toward positive change.

Abstract

This research examines the socio-cultural negotiation processes that facilitate accommodation between Islam and indigenous customs in the learning practices of the Wetu telu community in Bayan, North Lombok. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, this study examines how the Wetu telu indigenous community negotiates Islamic values with local wisdom, strategies employed by internal community actors in accommodating Islamic implementation, and the development of a contextual Islamic model that respects local wisdom while maintaining Islamic authenticity. The findings reveal three main strategic approaches: (1) elite power approach through structural negotiation with traditional leaders, (2) emotional approach through relationship building and interpersonal trust, and (3) cultural approach through integration of Islamic teachings into local traditions without negating cultural identity. This research produces a multidimensional accommodation model that enables the integration of Islamic values within indigenous social systems while maintaining cultural integrity. The resulting framework demonstrates that effective Islamic implementation in indigenous communities requires recognition of existing cultural knowledge systems and integration of religious teachings within traditional learning processes. This model provides a practical framework for developing contextual Islamic integration that can be applied in other regions with similar characteristics, emphasizing the role of internal community actors as primary agents of change who ensure religious transformation emerges from within existing social structures.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the growing need for character-strengthening models for vocational students that emphasize not only technical competencies but also the development of religious character, integrity, responsibility, discipline, and social concern. Although various approaches to character education have been developed, research positioning experiential religious activities as a source of character learning remains limited. One activity with significant potential in this regard is the three-day khuruj conducted by Jamaah Tabligh, which incorporates educational practices emphasizing religious habituation, da'wah, discipline, cooperation, independence, simplicity, and the strengthening of social relationships. This study aims to reconstruct the Islamic educational values embedded in the three-day khuruj activity into a model for strengthening vocational students' character, using a qualitative case study approach conducted within a Jamaah Tabligh community that routinely engages in three-day khuruj activities. Participants included amir, khuruj participants, former khuruj participants, community leaders, and academics. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed interactively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification, with credibility ensured through source, methodological, and time triangulation. The findings indicate that the three-day khuruj embodies Islamic educational values internalized through habituation, role modeling, direct experience, spiritual reflection, and social interaction—including sincerity, discipline, responsibility, independence, ukhuwah Islamiyah, social concern, simplicity, trustworthiness, leadership, communication, cooperation, self-control, istiqamah, and time management. These values were subsequently reconstructed into a character-strengthening model emphasizing direct experience as the core mechanism for sustainable character formation, offering a contextual and applicable approach to developing vocational human resources who are professional, possess integrity, and demonstrate noble character.
