Abstract

Menopause is the end of the last menstrual cycle but certainty is only obtained if a woman has not had her menstrual cycle for at least 12 months, in addition menopause occurs on average between the ages of 45-55 years. However, in terms of age, there are still mothers who experience late menopause who previously used the 3-month depoprovera injection contraceptive. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of the 3-month depoprovera injection contraceptive on the incidence of menopause in the Demangan Village study group. The design of this study is analytical. The population used were mothers aged 45-55 years who had previously used 3-month depoprovera injection contraception for > 2 years. The independent variable is the use of 3-month depoprovera injection contraception, the dependent variable is menopause . The population was 15 mothers. Data collection used a questionnaire. Tested using the fisher's exact test with a significance level of 0.05. The results of the study on 15 mothers in table 4.6, those who experienced late menopause were 9 mothers (60%), normal menopause was 6 mothers (40%). Based on the fisher's exact test , the probability value (0.01) was smaller than the significance level value (0.05) so it was rejected and accepted. In conclusion, there is an effect of the use of 3-month depoprovera injection contraception on the incidence of menopause . To improve the health status of women, midwives are expected to emphasize more on the side effects of 3-month depoprovera injection contraception in providing HE.

Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia (ADB) is a nutritional disorder that often occurs, especially in adolescent girls, due to increased nutrient requirements during growth and menstruation. Assessing ferritin levels is an important step in determining the status of iron stores in the body and identifying individuals at risk of iron deficiency anemia, especially in resource-constrained environments such as coastal areas. This study aims to determine the prevalence of anemia and iron deficiency in adolescent girls in the coastal areas of Lombok, Indonesia and analyze the relationship between ferritin levels as a risk factor for the incidence of iron deficiency anemia. The design of this study was a cross-sectional study conducted on 101 young women aged 15 - 19 years in the coastal areas of West Lombok. Ferritin levels were measured to determine iron deficiency status (< 15 ng/ml) and hemoglobin levels were used to determine anemia in adolescent girls (HB < 12 g/dl). The Chi-Squre and relative risk tests were used for statistical analysis of the relationship and risk between iron deficiency and the incidence of anemia. The results of the study found that the prevalence of iron deficiency was 40 (39.6%) and anemia was 21 (20.79%). Of the respondents who experienced anemia, 13 (61.9%) were iron deficiency anemia. There was a significant association between anemia and iron deficiency (p = 0.004) and an odd ratio value of 4.154 was obtained, indicating that adolescent girls with iron deficiency (low ferritin levels) had a 4.154 times greater risk of developing anemia compared to adolescent girls with normal ferritin levels.

Abstract

Abstract

Objective : To determine the Effect of Gestational Weight Gain on Preeclampsia During COVID-19 Pandemic in Public Health Centers of The West Lombok Regency Methods : This study is an observational analytic study that uses a case control study design (case control) starting by identifying patients with effects (preeclampsia and/or eclampsia) and groups without effects (no preeclampsia and/or eclampsia) and then retrospectively tracing their risk factors at 3 public health centers, which are located in West Lombok Regency, NTB Province, Indonesia namely Narmada, Kediri and Gunung Sari Health Centers. The analysis was carried out using the SPSS application. Results: Total of 120 samples were obtained, with 60 case samples and 60 control samples. During the COVID-19 pandemic with a time span of 2020-2021, subjects with weight gain that did not meet the recommendations had more preeclampsia, namely 56 people (93.3%) than subjects who did not had preeclampsia, which was 32 people (53.3 %). The value of Odds Ratio (OR) is 12,25 (95% Confidence Interval, 3.941-38.078). Conclusion : Based on this study, there was a significant relationship between the increase in BMI and the incidence of preeclampsia during the COVID-19 pandemic. The increase in BMI that is not in accordance with the recommendations is a risk factor for the occurrence of preeclampsia in pregnant women. The majority of preeclampsia occurs in 3rd trimester pregnant women. In addition, the Odds Ratio value obtained in this study increased by 6 times compared to similar studies conducted in non-pandemic conditions. Abstract

Abstract

The postpartum period is a crucial recovery phase for mothers, often complicated by perineal pain due to tears or episiotomy. This pain can restrict movement, hinder daily activities, and disrupt lactation patterns. This case report describes midwifery care for a postpartum mother with grade II perineal lacerations and lactation issues. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and physical examinations. Pain was assessed using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and Visual Analog Scale (VAS), while lactation patterns were evaluated based on frequency, duration, and breastfeeding techniques. The subject was a P1A0 mother on the third day postpartum. Interventions included personal hygiene education, nutrition, sitting position, early mobilization, warm compresses, lavender aromatherapy, and support for optimal lactation. Results showed that during the first visit, the mother experienced moderate to severe pain and limited mobility. However, after three visits, pain intensity decreased significantly, mobility improved, and the mother’s self-care knowledge enhanced. Lactation patterns were smooth, wounds healed without infection, and uterine involution was normal. Daily activities resumed without hindrance. This midwifery care effectively reduced perineal pain, improved lactation, and enhanced the mother’s self-care understanding. Support through education, family involvement, and safe, non-pharmacological interventions helped the mother navigate postpartum recovery without complications.

Abstract

Pre-eclampsia (PE) is a significant cause of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. PE requires intervention to prevent it from developing into severe pre-eclampsia or eclampsia. One of the non-pharmacological therapies for PE that has not been widely used is prenatal yoga and self-hypnosis. This research aimed to determine the effect of combining prenatal yoga and self-hypnosis on decreasing blood pressure in pregnant women with PE. The method was quasi-experimental, with a pretest-posttest and a control group design. The population was all pregnant women with PE in 5 health centers in Bangkalan district from May to August 2024. The sampling technique used simple random sampling with the Federer formula, with a total sample of 32 people, 16 in each group. The research instruments used calibrated digital tension meters and SOPs for prenatal yoga and self-hypnosis. The results of the Wilcoxon analysis test showed that prenatal yoga and self-hypnosis effectively reduced blood pressure in pregnant women with pre-eclampsia with a p-value of 0.000 (p <0.05). Yoga and self-hypnosis are effective in lowering blood pressure by increasing the physical, mental, and spiritual strength of the mother in dealing with pregnancy with PE.
