Abstract

The Indonesia government has begun to focus and pay attention to the quality of education in Islamic Boarding School. Education is a provision for the future to create quality human resources. Education is strongly linked to the 21st century, where education has rapidly developed in science and technology to generate worldwide competitiveness. Students' higher-order thinking skills are fundamental, where this thinking ability is an ability to understand and find solutions to problems in varied and different ways. An appropriate learning approach must support Higher-order thinking skills. Higher-order thinking skills are intelligence with specific knowledge that leads to reasoning, analytical skills, problem-solving, and critical and creative thinking skills. Higher-order thinking skills are the major objective of educational institutions in implementing education that uses a quasi-experiment. Participants consisted of Islamic Boarding School students, ten male- and ten female students. A STEM-based video is a learning approach that can help students analyze, solve problems, investigate a phenomenon, create skills in students, and produce higher-order thinking skills. This study's STEM-based Video approach process is designed to solve functional mathematics problems in real life concerning geometry.

Abstract

Kata kunci: Guided Inquiry, praktikum, fluida statis, keterampilan proses sains Abstrack This study aims to implement the Guided Inquiry learning model assisted by practicum on static fluid material to facilitate students' science process skills. Science process skills include basic skills such as observation, formulating hypotheses, conducting experiments, interpreting data, and drawing conclusions. The research method used is a quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects of the study were students of grade XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2 in one of the high schools, which were divided into two groups: an experimental class with a Guided Inquiry model based on practicum and a control class with conventional learning methods. The results showed that students in the experimental class experienced a significant increase in science process skills, especially in aspects of critical thinking and problem solving through practicum activities such as measuring hydrostatic pressure and the principle of Pascal's Law. These findings indicate that the Guided Inquiry approach combined with practicum on static fluid material is effective in building conceptual understanding while improving students' science process skills. Thus, this model is recommended as an alternative active learning strategy in physics classes. Keywords: Guided Inquiry, practicum, static fluid, science process skills.

Abstract

Marriage readiness is a critical factor in ensuring long-term relationship satisfaction and resilience. In Indonesia, challenges such as rising cases of domestic violence and marital instability highlight the urgent need for more effective premarital counseling programs. However, existing interventions often lack cultural sensitivity, particularly in multicultural societies like Indonesia, which encompasses over 300 ethnic groups. This study examines the effectiveness of a culturally-informed premarital counseling program based on Banjar marital customs in enhancing marital readiness. A randomized controlled trial (RCT) was conducted with 32 engaged individuals divided into an experimental group receiving Banjar-based counseling and a control group participating in the government’s standard premarital counseling. The marriage readiness scale was used to measure psychological preparedness across domains such as communication, financial management, parenting, and lifestyle adjustments. Statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney U test revealed significant improvements in the experimental group (U = 16.000, Z = -5.899, p < 0.001) compared to the control group. The findings underscore the importance of integrating local cultural values into premarital counseling to enhance mental readiness for marriage. By fostering deeper connections to cultural traditions, the intervention promoted mutual respect, emotional maturity, and role preparedness among participants. This study contributes to the growing discourse on culturally-informed psychosocial interventions and offers a scalable model for multicultural societies across Asia and beyond.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to develop and psychometrically validate a culturally grounded Distinctive Passive Suicidal Ideation Scale and to examine its potential contribution to early suicide prevention within technology-supported higher education environments. Methodology: This quantitative cross-sectional study employed a self-developed Distinctive Passive Suicidal Ideation Scale administered through an online survey using Google Forms. Data were collected from 833 Indonesian respondents. Psychometric validation was conducted using Item Response Theory with Rasch modeling. Item difficulty, person reliability, item fit statistics (infit and outfit MNSQ), rating scale functioning, and person–item targeting were analyzed using Jamovi version 2.7.6. Main Findings: The Scale demonstrated strong psychometric performance. The Rasch analysis indicated high person reliability (0.917) and acceptable item fit statistics, confirming the internal consistency of the scale. Item difficulty estimates clustered within low to moderate levels, suggesting that the instrument is sensitive to early manifestations of passive suicidal ideation. Rating scale thresholds were ordered, and person–item targeting indicated appropriate alignment between item difficulty and respondent ability levels. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study introduces a Rasch-validated instrument designed to measure passive suicidal ideation as the cognitive state described as the “wish not to live.” By operationalizing this early stage of suicidality, the D-PSI Scale provides a psychometric foundation for integrating psychological screening indicators into digital counseling platforms, learning analytics, and other technology-enabled student support systems aimed at strengthening suicide prevention efforts in higher education.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a physics learning module based on catfish farming as a contextual approach to teaching static fluid concepts. The module was designed using the 4-D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) to enhance students' learning interest and foster entrepreneurial behaviour. The module was evaluated by material and media experts, achieving an average score of 87.90%, indicating a high feasibility level for use. Trial tests with students yielded an average score of 83%, reflecting very positive responses. The module not only aids students in understanding physics concepts more effectively but also promotes critical thinking, innovation, and entrepreneurial skills. By integrating physics with real-world applications such as catfish farming, the contextual approach offers meaningful and relevant learning experiences connected to daily life.
