Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of clinker cargo damage on operational efficiency and to identify the effects of truck delays (waiting trucks) and crane malfunctions on the operational efficiency of the clinker loading process at PT Varia Usaha Bahari JIIPE Gresik. The study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 60 respondents. Primary data were obtained through the distribution of questionnaires, while secondary data were obtained from Daily Reports/Time Sheets and Statements of Facts (SOF). Data analysis included validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, simple linear regression analysis, the coefficient of determination, t-tests, and descriptive analysis of operational data. The results indicate that Clinker Cargo Damage has a positive and significant effect on Operational Efficiency, with a regression coefficient of 0.742, a calculated t-value of 7.852, a significance level of < 0.001, and an R² of 0.515. This means that the Clinker Cargo Damage variable explains 51.5% of the variation in Operational Efficiency. Operational Efficiency (Y) = 5.547 + 0.742 Clinker Cargo Damage (X). Analysis of Daily Reports/Time Sheets and Statements of Facts (SOF) revealed that waiting trucks are the dominant factor reducing operational efficiency, resulting in a total time loss of 1.72 hours and an estimated delayed tonnage of approximately 769 metric tons, whereas crane disruptions only caused a time loss of 0.32–0.63 hours with an estimated delayed tonnage of 143–282 metric tons. These findings indicate that truck delays have a greater impact on operational efficiency than crane malfunctions.
