Abstract

In the 1950s the plastics industry had grown, and the problem of plastic waste had become a global environmental problem. Plastic waste can enter the sea in various ways, both through rainwater runoff, sewer overflow, beach visitors, intentional disposal by the community, inadequate waste management, industrial activities. . This research is located in the city of Ternate as many as 5 points, namely North Ternate District 2 points namely Dufa-Dufa Village and Kasturian Village, Central Ternate City District 3 (three) points namely Gamalama Village, Muhajirin Village, and Toboko Village. The composition of the plastic waste found in the identification shows that the waste is the remains of community activity waste and family domestic waste. The amount of waste found in these two sub-districts shows that the population makes a large contribution to the existence of plastic waste in the environment, so that if it is not managed properly, this waste becomes a source of environmental pollution.
