Abstract

This study aims to analyze the form and role of social capital in the management of the Pantai Bidadari tourist attraction by BUMDes Sepakat Sejahtera in Subik Village, Buay Pematang Ribu Ranau Tengah District, South OKU Regency. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Robert Putnam's social capital theory which includes three main dimensions: trust, networks, and norms. The results of the study indicate that social capital plays an important role in building collaboration between managers, communities, and village governments. The form of trust is reflected through the involvement of local communities in managing and accepting village policies. Social networks are formed through mutual cooperation, socialization activities, and participation in youth organizations. Social norms develop through obedience to local rules in maintaining coastal sustainability. Social capital is a driving force in strengthening community participation and supporting the sustainability of tourism management. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening social capital as a strategy for empowering and developing sustainable community-based tourism.

Abstract

This study examines the construction of reality in the online media coverage by Detik.com and Tribunnews.com, from May 2 to 8, 2025 (coverage news period). The coverage focuses on the Regent of Cianjur Regency’s decision to send students alleged to be LGBT to military barracks. Using a qualitative approach and Robert N. Entman's framing analysis method within the constructivist paradigm, this study focuses on four components of framing analysis: problem definition, causal interpretation, moral evaluation, and treatment recommendation. Data were derived in the form of four news stories (two news articles from each media) and were selected purposively to allow for an in-depth analysis of the framing strategies used. The results show that both media frame the issue from different perspectives. The findings suggest that Detik.com constructs its coverage through an informative frame shaped by nationalist ideology and an orientation toward objectivity, while Tribunnews.com frames its reporting by foregrounding moral judgements and controversial aspects. These findings demonstrate that the media not only convey facts but also reconstruct reality according to their respective ideologies and news orientations. This research is significant because the LGBT issue remains a social and political debate in Indonesia, so media framing has been influenced and shaped public opinion, moral perceptions, and the direction of government policy. Thus, by understanding how the media frames this sensitive issue, readers and researchers can be more critical in interpreting information and its impact on the construction of social reality Abstract Indonesian: Penelitian ini menganalisis konstruksi realitas dalam liputan media daring Detik.com dan Tribunnews.com terkait isu pengiriman mahasiswa diduga LGBT ke barak militer oleh Bupati Cianjur dalam kurun waktu 2-8 Mei 2025.

Abstract

The prevalence of human immunodeficiency virus is high among female sex workers (FSWs) in Indonesia, underscoring the need for integrated prevention strategies supported by strong government policies. This study aimed to investigate FSWs' willingness to participate in a pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) program. This qualitative study employed semi-structured interviews with 20 participants residing in Pangkal Pinang City, Indonesia (4 stakeholders and 16 FSWs), recruited through purposive sampling. Data were collected from July to September 2024. This non-probability sampling method was adopted due to the focus on specific study objectives and a targeted population. The analysis of the interviews revealed three theme clusters comprising eight themes. The identified clusters were government policy, knowledge of effectiveness and willingness to follow PrEP, and readiness for side effects and long-term compliance. Improving health services in areas where FSWs are concentrated is crucial for facilitating easier access with lower transportation costs. Furthermore, supporting the privacy of FSWs is crucial, and the cost of health screening before PrEP initiation should be waived to eliminate financial barriers and encourage participation in the PrEP program.

Abstract

The Seribandung Women Fighters Group is a grassroots women's group that carries out a social movement to fight for community land which has been controlled for forty-two years by a state-owned company, PT Perkebunan Nusantara VII Cinta Manis. This research aims to analyze the meaning of the social movement carried out by KPPS, especially since this conflict has been very long and has not yet been resolved. The method used in this research is qualitative with Alfred Schutz's phenomenological approach. The results of this study found that the experience, knowledge, awareness and motives of KPPS shape the meaning of social movements that have been carried out. KPPS has experience doing social movements from demonstrations to new social movements, namely campaigns through MSME products. This experience shapes KPPS knowledge in conducting social movements in the form of dialogue, advocacy, campaigning and organizing strategies. They get this knowledge because of continuous experience. This activity forms KPPS awareness to continue to carry out social movements supported by the land return motive. KPPS believes that farming is a hereditary legacy from ancestors and land is a source of livelihood for the community so that land conversion carried out by companies has an impact on the absence of productive land, changing the type of work of women from farmers to farm laborers, the high criminalization carried out by the authorities to the shrinking of village administrative areas. This is the basis of the social movement carried out by KPPS to this day. KPPS itself interprets land as a source of life, human life and death depend on land and the seizure of land rights by companies is a violation of human rights.
