Abstract

In Palembang, Indonesia, toddlers who suffer from stunting, a condition marked by a failure to develop, are the subject of this study. This study analyses and assesses the function of urban social construction in avoiding infant stunting during the first 1,000 days of life using a qualitative approach and Berger and Luckmann's theory of social construction. According to the study's findings, this social construction is influenced by socioeconomic elements like education, the surrounding community, and cleanliness, as well as the reality of pregnancy, delivery, and raising children. This study stresses the importance of dialectics in this social construction by demonstrating how clashes and interactions between social systems and people have an impact on efforts to prevent stunting. This work is groundbreaking because it recognises dialectics as a fundamental component of social construction that affects stunting prevalence and prevention. The dialectic offers fresh perspectives for preventing stunting in urban areas like Palembang and highlights the social factors that affect preventative efforts. Abstract

Abstract

This research focuses on discussing the division of productive, reproductive, and social gender roles in dual-career families in the Inderalaya Raya sub-district. The division of roles in a dual-career family certainly has its own difficulties and challenges, such as the division of roles involving children, work, household, and time. The purpose of this study is to identify the division of roles between husbands and wives who work in deciding the division of roles in family life. The research method used is descriptive-qualitative with a narrative research strategy. This study used role theory, and data was obtained from six pairs of husband and wife informants and three child informants through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the husband and wife have agreed on a joint decision to balance work responsibilities in the formal sector and household affairs, which can be in the form of full direct involvement of the husband and wife or assistance from a third party in carrying out the reproductive role. The multiple roles that are carried out will experience role conflict if there are two or more pressures that occur simultaneously. Role theory states that role strain and role failure carried out by someone will also lead to conflict and can even lead to gender inequality. However, workers and parents who carry out their roles well are made role models by the child

Abstract

Preliminary studies on cultural intermediaries focused on social classes that mediate the production and consumption of culture. Therefore, this study determined the importance of the cultural intermediaries of migrant worker university students who popularize the values of higher education for the working class. Habitus and replication of meaning were used as analytical tools, with an alternative perspective proposed on cultural intermediaries using an ethical approach. The results showed that the cultural intermediary based on ethical relationships produces a new individual involvement of marginalized groups. Meanwhile, community relations with a similar social context are strengthened, enabling individuals to combine their allegiances and continuously generate values to suit certain social situations.

Abstract

The use of smartphones is very beneficial for students to learn new things and share information, but they are also unaware of the impact that the situation can have. The impact of phubbing is very important to understand because it can interfere with relationships with family, friends, and even romantic relationships. Phone snubbing or abbreviated as phubbing is a situation where a person ignores the people around him because his attention is more focused on the smartphone he is holding, which makes them not care about what is happening around them. If this behavior of phubbing is allowed, social relations between individuals will decrease because it can interfere with the individual's ability to be present and involved with people. This research aims to describe and gain an understanding of phubbing and social relations in the lives of Sriwijaya University students towards their parents and friends in the city of Palembang. Using the theory of symbolic interactionism by Mead. The research method used is the descriptive qualitative research method. Retrieval of informants using purposive techniques. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that phubbing was very influential in the process of interaction between students and their parents because it resulted in disputes with their parents and friends, which was caused by phubbing because there was no mutual harmony when interacting. So that it can cause a decrease in the quality of communication and student relationships with their parents and friends.

Abstract

One of the efforts to obtain and increase village revenue was by running a business through a village-owned enterprise (VOEs). A policy was needed for utilizing village resources in establishing a village-owned enterprise. The Musi Rawas Regency Government had made a policy, namely Musi Rawas Regency Regional Regulation Number 10 of 2013, concerning Guidelines for the Establishment and Management of Village-Owned Enterprises (VOEs). Villages of Musi Rawas Regency had implemented this regulation. This research aimed to evaluate the implementation of this regional regulation. This research method is descriptive quantitative comprises a sample survey and descriptive analysis indicators resulting from the sample survey. The population of this research was 174 Village-Owned Enterprises (VOEs/BUMDes) in Musi Rawas Regency. At the same time, the sample was 64 VOEs which was taken by referring to the Slovin formula. There were primary data and secondary ones. Primary data came mainly from the questionnaire and field observation. Meanwhile, secondary data were sourced from documents, such as archives and reports. Data were analyzed by descriptive technique. The descriptive technique was done by displaying data, assessing them, delivering argument, quoting theory for justification and confirmation, and concluding. Implementing the Regional Regulation concerning Guidelines for the Establishment and Management of Village-Owned Enterprises (VOEs) was successful. This could be seen from several indicators, refers to Ripley & Franklin (1986), namely: 1) There existed compliance of policy implementers towards the content of the regional regulation. The degree of compliance was high and was in a good category. 2) The establishment and management of VOEs (the smoothness of routine functions) were also high and classified as good, and 3) The performance of the management of VOEs was also good. The impact of policy implementation (regional regulation of Musi Rawas Regency) was positive (good).

Abstract

Children are assumed to be innocent entities and have not much experience. However, the emergence of the phenomenon of children as perpetrators of crimes (children in conflict with the law/CICL) is contradictory to this assumption. This study explores and examines one aspect of the life of the child perpetrator of this crime, namely the family aspect as the primary habitus. This study used qualitative research methods by interviewing CICL at the Palembang Special Children’s Correctional Institution and Correctional Institution of Kayuagung, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, as well as several related figures. Data were collected by observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, data analysis is built from the ground up, linearly and hierarchically. In line with the focus of the study, the concept used in this study is the primary habitus, which is part of the habitus concept of Bourdieu. The primary habitus is the habitus that the agent has since childhood, which is the basis for forming other (secondary) habitus. The research results related to primary habitus in CICL show that the family is not present as a whole in the process of CICL growth and development and the application of ineffective parenting. Complete absence of the family, shown to the family by the presence of, 1). CICL with separated parents, 2). CICL with one or both parents died, 3). CICL has an intact family but is not fully present in the child’s growth and development process. Meanwhile, poor parenting is shown through 1). Parenting with violence, 2). CICL’s parents and close people have not become positive role models, and 3). Parents do not/less comprehensively provide knowledge and understanding regarding good and bad deeds. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the family institution as a primary institution and an institution of value inheritance through socialization and education between generations. The family can be the main basis for passing down the values ??of anti-violence and crime in supporting efforts to minimize crime habitus.

Abstract

The Kibuk forest farmer group has been managing Kibuk social forestry for seven years. Capacity building initiatives implemented by the Dempo Region X Forest Management Unit and Hutan Kita Institute have not yet fully enhanced the efficacy of the individual and institutional capacity of the Kibuk forest farmer group, thereby impeding the capacity of the forest farmer group to fulfill its role and function in social forestry governance. This research employs a qualitative verification methodology with a case study strategy. The informants were comprised of individuals engaged in capacity building initiatives and the communities that benefited from these efforts. The findings of this study indicate that the capacity-building initiatives for the Kibuk forest farmer group have not yet fully improved the individual capacity of farmers. While there has been an increase in expertise in non-agricultural fields, knowledge of good social forestry governance and resources, and an improvement in the group's ability to engage in social forestry activities, there are still significant challenges in terms of institutional capacity. These include the lack of a complete social forestry business group structure and a lack of ideas regarding the development of social forestry areas. Members of the Kibuk forest farmer group have not yet been able to assume their own responsibilities. The Kibuk forest farmer group has not yet mastered management and has not yet been able to realize transparency and accountability. The institutional capacity development process of the Kibuk forest farmer group still ignores actual needs assessment, not all action plans and strategies can be implemented, program implementation is limited, monitoring and evaluation are not carried out credibly. The pattern of capacity building remains constrained to the subordinate union of partnership and passive participation of members, and has not yet encompassed a comprehensive and integrated approach. It is necessary to develop an institutional capacity-building model that can enhance the role and function of the Kibuk forest farmer group in implementing social forestry governance principles in an effective manner.
