Abstract

This community service program was carried out in Liyu Village, Halong District, Balangan Regency and lasted for 57 days, from July 17 to September 11, 2025. This activity aims to address the main issues in village tourism development, namely the lack of a shared vision among stakeholders, including the village government, business actors, and the community. This difference in perception has resulted in low community participation, economic inequality, and weak coordination in tourism management. The technique used in this study is qualitative descriptive, using the live-in method and the pentagonal asset concept. The pentagonal asset concept was used to solve the problems that arose and create goals that would later be processed into programs according to the village's needs. The activities of this program included field observations, village discussions, and socialization on the importance of synergy among all elements of the village. Through open dialogue forums, the community was invited to express their aspirations, explore local potential, and formulate directions for sustainable tourism development. The results of the activities showed an increase in the collective awareness of the community regarding the importance of cross-sector collaboration, the formation of a shared vision for tourism management, and the creation of a communication forum between stakeholders as a platform for ongoing coordination. The obstacles encountered included the limited time available for residents to attend and a culture of reluctance to express opinions. Nevertheless, this activity succeeded in strengthening the community's sense of ownership of their village's potential and encouraged the formation of a collective commitment to manage tourism in a fair, transparent, and sustainable manner. In conclusion, the alignment of vision through a participatory approach has proven to be effective as a foundation for strengthening sustainable tourism governance in Liyu Village.

Abstract

Rural economic stagnation remains a structural problem faced by many villages in Indonesia, including villages that have relatively adequate natural and human resources, but are not yet supported by participatory and sustainable economic institutions. This condition is also experienced by Kambiyain Village, Tebing Tinggi District, South Kalimantan, where community economic activities are still carried out individually and have not been integrated into a village economic institution that has social and formal legitimacy. The absence of a collective potential management mechanism has implications for the limited economic added value that can be enjoyed equally by the village community. This community service program aims to strengthen the social and institutional foundations of the village economy through the development of a collective vision as a prerequisite for the establishment of a Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes). This community service activity was carried out using a participatory approach and qualitative descriptive methods, which lasted for 57 days, from July 17 to September 11, 2025. The stages of the activity included identifying community needs, mapping the potential and problems of the village, confirming initial agreements with stakeholders, conducting education-based socialization activities, utilizing inspirational media in the form of films on BUMDes best practices, and holding focus group discussions (FGD) as a space for community deliberation. The results of the program implementation showed the formation of a BUMDes management structure through an open recruitment mechanism and the formulation of a collective vision agreed upon by the community and the village government, which was then institutionalized in the Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART). These findings confirm that educational and deliberative approaches play an important role in building social legitimacy, increasing community participation and sense of ownership, and strengthening the institutional foundations of the village economy as a prerequisite for the sustainability of BUMDes at the village level.

Abstract

The massive ecological damage has a very significant impact on all elements of life, especially communities on the edge of the forest. This study aims to describe how the internalization of feminine values and the spirit of ecofeminism contributes to the sustainability of tropical forests. This study uses a qualitative approach, with a phenomenological research type. The research location is in Batu Perahu Village, Batang Alai Timur District, Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency. Data collection was carried out through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, documentation, and literature studies. Data were analyzed using Manual Data Analysis Procedures (MDAP). The results of the study indicate that Dayak Meratus women in Batu Perahu Village play an important role in maintaining the sustainability of tropical forests. This role is implemented through subsistence farming. Women in Batu Perahu Village know various diversities. This diversity is a woman's expertise. The existing natural resources are utilized and managed by prioritizing feminine values. The dominance of feminine values arises due to the realization of gender equality and social inclusion. Therefore, women do not experience gender discrimination, which has an impact on the fulfillment of women's eco-social and cultural rights, which have implications for the realization of tropical forest sustainability. This study suggests that the construction of complete gender equality must be realized and maintained. Both men and women must have equal access and opportunities in the use of natural resources. Given the important role that women have, especially in maintaining ecological sustainability.

Abstract

The agrarian conflict involving the Pitap Dayak indigenous community represents a form of resistance against the expansion of extractive corporations that threaten the sustainability of their customary lands and cultural identity. This study aims to explore the underlying factors driving the community’s defense of their territory and to describe the characteristics of their social movement in the context of agrarian conflict. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Manual Data Analysis Procedure (MDAP). The findings reveal that the Pitap Dayak community has successfully harmonized traditional values, such as collective solidarity, customary spirituality, and community deliberation, with modern strategies, including legal advocacy, youth leadership development, and the use of digital technology. The involvement of NGOs further enhances the movement, positioning it within the framework of new social movements that are deliberative, adaptive, and well-networked. This study demonstrates that the effectiveness of indigenous movements is not solely determined by structural constraints, but by the community’s capacity to construct collective meaning, maintain cohesion, and adapt strategically to socio-political and economic pressures. Academically, the research contributes to studies on indigenous customary law, agrarian conflict, and environmental sociology. Practically, it offers valuable insights into the resilience of indigenous communities in defending ancestral land rights and ecological stewardship. Future research is encouraged to further investigate the role of digital tools and cross-sector alliances in reinforcing the sustainability and legitimacy of indigenous movements.

Abstract

Short semester programs are one of the academic strategies widely implemented in higher education to accelerate study duration and provide opportunities for grade improvement. This study aims to explore the motivations and challenges experienced by students in attending short-semester courses in the Civic Education (PPKn) Study Program at Lambung Mangkurat University. A qualitative approach was employed using a phenomenological method. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 30 students who participated in the short semester during the 2024/2025 academic year. The results indicate that the primary motivations of students include time efficiency, opportunities for grade improvement, and productive use of vacation periods. On the other hand, the challenges faced include dense course materials, limited study time, and minimal learning interaction. These findings highlight the importance of learning innovation and the development of an adaptive curriculum tailored to the characteristics of short-semester programs. This study recommends the formulation of appropriate teaching strategies and specific academic policies to support successful learning during short semesters.

Abstract

This study examines the socio-legal approach to land acquisition for public purposes, focusing on the construction of the Batulicin-Kotabaru Bridge. Land acquisition is often a crucial point in infrastructure development, where legal norms interact with the social realities of the community. This qualitative study uses a socio-legal approach to analyze how the legal framework (Law No. 2 of 2012) is implemented in the field and how social dynamics—such as community perceptions, compensation issues, and deliberation processes—influence the project's success. Primary data was obtained through in-depth interviews with government officials, affected communities, and academics, while secondary data was collected from official documents and related literature. The results show that a socio-legal approach that integrates strong legal aspects with a deep understanding of the community's social conditions is highly effective in minimizing disputes. Active community involvement from the early stages, a transparent deliberation process (FGD), and the determination of fair and appropriate compensation values are key to success. This study recommends strengthening mediation mechanisms and proactive communication to ensure community rights are fulfilled, thereby enabling the achievement of development goals without causing social conflict.

Abstract

The diversity of agricultural commodities in Datar Ajab Village, Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST) Regency presents economic potential. The cultivation of these agricultural commodities is an effort to meet daily needs, but the sale of agricultural commodities by farmers is still dominated by local collectors in the village as an extension before reaching consumers in the market. This study aims to identify the causes and effects of farmers' dependence on collectors in the agricultural commodity supply chain. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, through observation, interviews, and documentation, and is analyzed using the Manual Data Analysis Procedure (MDAP). The results of the study show that there is a patronage relationship between farmers and collectors, driven by farmers' limited resources, such as operational capital, land ownership, and infrastructure conditions, as well as differences in socioeconomic status. In this relationship, collectors act as patrons who provide protection and assistance, while farmers as clients are morally bound to sell their produce as a form of loyalty. This patronage relationship is also influenced by kinship ties and emotional closeness, which ultimately strengthen farmers' dependence. The research results provide theoretical benefits as an important reference in agricultural sociology studies on the problems experienced by farmers, especially in the distribution of agricultural commodities. Practically, this research can contribute to the agenda in efforts to realize sustainable development that takes into account the distribution conditions of agricultural commodities owned by local farmers.
