Abstract

This study analyzes the Problem-Based Learning model in Sociology Learning through an educational philosophy approach covering ontological, epistemological, and axiological dimensions. Through the literature study method, this study aims to analyze how the PBL model reflects the ontological dimension in sociology learning, knowledge is constructed epistemologically through PBL, and axiological values that emerge from the application of PBL. The results of the literature study show that ontologically, PBL reflects real and contextual social reality as a source of problems to be analyzed. Epistemologically, PBL emphasizes the construction of knowledge through the process of scientific inquiry, orientation of students to problems, organizing students for learning, guiding students in individual and group investigations, improving and presenting the results of student work, and analyzing and evaluating the problem-solving process. Meanwhile, axiologically, PBL instills the values of creativity, critical thinking, independent learning, motivation, responsibility for learning, collaboration, and group cooperation. Thus, the application of the PBL model in sociology learning has a strong relationship between the dimensions of ontology, epistemology, and axiology. The limitation of this study is the lack of direct empirical validation. Therefore, further research is recommended to test the implementation of PBL through classroom action research or experiments to obtain concrete evidence regarding its effectiveness.

Abstract

The Limas House at the Balaputra Dewa Museum is a cultural heritage site that must be preserved. The Limas House has been a typical Palembang traditional house since 1930. The first owner of the Limas House was Syarif Abdurachman Alhabsi, who later purchased it from the Palembang City Government. This Limas House is divided into two parts facing opposite directions. The owner of the rear house is Syarif Ali. The characteristic of the four-story Limas House building is called Bengkilas. At major events, seating positions depend on family status. In 1995, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands visited the Balaputra Dewa Museum. The Limas House was legalized as an icon on the 2005 Rp. 10,000 banknote, along with an image of the South Sumatran hero, Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II. Since the 2005 Rp. 10,000 banknote was issued, the number of national tourists visiting Palembang and the Balaputra Dewa Museum has increased. Students and schools in Palembang have involved the Balaputra Dewa Museum in learning about Local Wisdom and contributing to school activities. Each structure in the Balaputra Dewa Museum holds meaning and value for the people of Palembang. This research aims to raise awareness among the people of Palembang and the younger generation of the city about the need to increase their knowledge of Limas Houses and promote traditional tourism. The researchers used interviews with tour guides and secondary data from a literature review.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of facts, values, and events in constructing an understanding of contemporary social phenomena, particularly in social science analysis in Indonesia. The main problem of this research stems from the research gap that separates these elements, resulting in less holistic analysis of phenomena such as structural poverty and educational fraud in the post-truth era. Using descriptive qualitative methods through literature research, content analysis, and hermeneutics, this study explores the relationship between these three concepts based on secondary data from scientific literature, journals, and BPS 2025 documents. The results show that facts as empirically verified objective realities, values as subjective views that shape behavior, and events as social dynamics are interrelated, forming a comprehensive analytical framework. For example, poverty data of 8.47% in March 2025 (BPS) is interpreted through the value of injustice as events such as demonstrations, avoiding the reduction of social reality to mere data. This integration is relevant for overcoming information manipulation and supporting social policies that are sensitive to cultural contexts. This thinking is relevant in the context of social education through the application of integrative analysis that encourages students' critical understanding of contemporary phenomena. Although conceptual in nature with limited secondary sources, the results open the way for empirical studies that test this framework in the field. Thus, the integrative legacy of facts-values-events affirms the importance of balancing empirical objectivity, value interpretation, and event dynamics in the advancement of contemporary social science.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) learning model in improving students’ literacy and critical thinking skills in geography learning at the senior high school level. The need for this research arises from the consistently low literacy and higher-order thinking performance of Indonesian students in PISA and AKM, as well as the limited implementation of RADEC in geography. This study employed a one-group pretest–posttest quasi-experimental design involving 16 eleventh-grade students from SMA Negeri 3 Tebing Tinggi Barat, Riau Province. The instruments consisted of a literacy test based on AKM indicators and a critical thinking test adapted from Facione’s framework, which measured Interpretation, Analysis, and Evaluation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, N-gain calculations, and paired-samples t-tests. The results showed a significant improvement (p < 0.05) in both variables, with N-gain scores of 0.40 for geographic literacy and 0.36 for critical thinking, categorized as moderate. These findings indicate that the RADEC model enhances students’ literacy and critical thinking through structured stages involving reading comprehension, answering tasks, collaborative discussion, explanation, and the creation of learning products. The study provides empirical evidence for the application of RADEC in geography learning and highlights its relevance to the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Cultural diversity and everyday multicultural interactions strongly influence health-seeking behavior and well-being in complex urban settings. Bukit Bintang is a cosmopolitan urban district in Malaysia where culturally diverse communities interact within shared spaces. This study aims to examine how cultural diversity and everyday multicultural encounters influence health-seeking behavior and well-being among residents and visitors within the Bukit Bintang urban environment. Employing a qualitative research design, this study draws data from literature reviews, national and international journal articles, research reports, interviews, observations, and contextual documentation. The researcher served as the primary instrument, supported by interview protocols, observation guidelines, recording tools, and field documents. The analysis focused on subjective meanings, lived experiences, and participants’ interpretations of cultural and health-related practices. Findings reveal that multicultural interactions affect health-seeking behavior through varying preferences for traditional and modern healthcare, reliance on culturally familiar providers, and differing levels of trust in formal health institutions. While diversity promotes inclusivity and enriches the social fabric, challenges remain, including communication barriers, socio-economic disparities, and uneven access to health information. The study concludes that culturally responsive health strategies and inclusive community engagement are essential to improving health equity and supporting well-being within Malaysia’s multicultural urban environments.
