Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen the mental resilience and emotional well-being of researchers and academics at a higher education institution in Brunei Darussalam through a Self-Resilience Enhancement workshop based on self-existential discovery techniques using a self-existential discovery (tadabbur alam). The Community Service Team from State University of Surabaya (UNESA) organized the program in response to the high levels of stress, burnout, and workload pressure experienced by the academic community. The tadabbur alam was chosen because it can combine self-introspection, strengthening self-identity, and spiritual connection through direct observation of natural phenomena. The program resulted in an increase of self-awareness, clarity of thought, gratitude, and inner peace, and gained adaptive strategies to deal with life's stressors of participants. Participants also understood resilience not only as the ability to bounce back from setbacks, but also as an internal strength derived from self-understanding and a spiritual connection with God. This activity is an example of cross-country collaboration between UNESA and a higher education institution in Brunei Darussalam through Guidance and Counseling Study Program and Counselling and Diverse Learning Needs Unit that is relevant to be developed in a program to improve academic mental health based on Islamic values and local culture.

Abstract

Meanwhile, late behavior itself includes deviant behavior, which includes behavior that goes out of the existing norms. In this study, researchers felt anxiety related to what efforts have been made by counseling teachers to reduce the late behavior of their students with the aim of reducing the late behavior of Muhammadiyah 7 Surabaya high school students. This research was conducted using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. For the stages themselves, researchers conducted school observations and then conducted interviews with the subjects and then analyzed the data obtained to draw conclusions from the data that had been obtained. Regarding the efforts that have been made by counseling teachers at SMA Muhammadiyah 7 Surabaya, counseling teachers have made various kinds of efforts, but it's just that they haven't found effective and appropriate provisions. Therefore, it is necessary for counseling teachers at SMA Muhammadiyah 7 Surabaya to try new and creative strategies to overcome the tardiness of students and students

Abstract

The benefits of CBT-based counseling services have been widely proven, one of which is through the implementation of this research that evaluated the effectiveness of CBT services in group counseling programs at the high school level to optimize their self-concept. By utilizing a true experimental study setting involving a number of students to carry out the intervention. Data processing went through multi-stage stages starting from paired sample T-test testing with a significance of 0.05. The research also conducted pretest and posttest stages to see differences in experimental results on the t-table, namely degrees of freedom (dk) N-1, and a significance of α = 0.05. The output of the data processing found a t-table value of 1.782, so Ha is "accepted". Findings through analysis of pre-treatment responses showed that students' self-concept was only in the medium category, and even 13 people had low self-concept. Meanwhile, the post-treatment value showed an increase with the post-test results of students who were not in the low group. The T-Test also showed a calculated t-value (7.597) which exceeded the t-table so that group counseling with CBT has been reliably able to improve respondents' negative self-concept and Ha is "accepted". Abstract

Career planning is an important aspect of guidance and counseling services in Vocational High Schools (SMK) because it is closely related to students’ readiness in determining further education and entering the world of work. However, in reality, many students still experience difficulties in planning their careers effectively. This condition is caused by a lack of self-understanding, limited career information, and inadequate ability to make career decisions. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group guidance services using the problem-solving technique in improving the career planning of vocational high school students. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest–posttest model. The research subjects were eleventh-grade vocational high school students who had low to moderate levels of career planning. Data were collected using a career planning scale that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using statistical tests to compare the results before and after the implementation of the service. The results showed a significant increase in students’ career planning levels after participating in group guidance services using the problem-solving technique. These findings indicate that group guidance services with the problem-solving technique are effective in helping students understand their potential, identify various career alternatives, and make more directed career decisions. Therefore, this service can be used as a strategy by guidance and counseling teachers to improve the career planning abilities of vocational high school students. ABSTRAK Perencanaan karier merupakan salah satu aspek penting dalam layanan bimbingan dan konseling di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) karena berkaitan dengan kesiapan siswa dalam menentukan pilihan studi lanjut maupun dunia kerja. Namun, pada kenyataannya masih banyak siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam merencanakan karier secara matang akibat kurangnya pemahaman diri, informasi karier, serta kemampuan dalam mengambil keputusan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas layanan bimbingan kelompok dengan teknik problem solving dalam meningkatkan perencanaan karier siswa SMK. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen semu (quasi experimental design) dengan model pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI SMK yang memiliki tingkat perencanaan karier rendah hingga sedang. Pengumpulan data menggunakan skala perencanaan karier yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji statistik untuk membandingkan hasil sebelum dan sesudah pemberian layanan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan pada tingkat perencanaan karier siswa setelah mengikuti layanan bimbingan kelompok dengan teknik problem solving. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa layanan bimbingan kelompok dengan teknik problem solving efektif dalam membantu siswa memahami potensi diri, mengidentifikasi berbagai alternatif karier, serta mengambil keputusan karier secara lebih terarah. Dengan demikian, layanan ini dapat menjadi salah satu strategi yang dapat diterapkan oleh guru bimbingan dan konseling dalam meningkatkan kemampuan perencanaan karier siswa SMK.

Abstract

This article aims to summarize the empirical evidence on the effects of mindful play interventions on self-regulation, executive function, social competence, and conflict resolution in children aged 4–6 years, and to assess their relevance to the development of Early Childhood Guidance and Counseling (BK PAUD) services. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method based on the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, 36 articles from Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar were analyzed through thematic synthesis. The results showed that mindful play consistently improved emotion management skills, impulse control, cognitive flexibility, empathy, and conflict resolution strategies. Teacher and parent support play a significant role in strengthening the effectiveness of interventions. These findings provide a conceptual and empirical basis for developing Mindful Play Counseling as an evidence-based BK PAUD service model. Theoretical, practical, and policy implications are discussed to strengthen the implementation of mindful play in early childhood education. Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between achievement motivation and peer social support with the academic resilience of grade XI students at SMK Negeri 2 Jombang. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population in this study consisted of 380 students, with a sample of 80 students determined through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire in the form of a 5-point Likert scale. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics 26. The results showed that achievement motivation had a positive and significant relationship with academic resilience (r = 0.614; p < 0.05). In addition, peer social support also showed a positive and significant relationship with academic resilience (r = 0.411; p < 0.05). Achievement motivation is a variable that has a stronger influence on academic resilience than peer social support. Simultaneously, achievement motivation and peer social support have a significant effect on academic resilience with an F value of 26.533 and an R square of 0.408, indicating that these two variables have a 40.8% influence on academic resilience. This study confirms that strengthening achievement motivation and peer social support play an important role in helping students cope with academic demands and challenges, especially in vocational high school environments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of body image in shaping self-confidence among junior high school students. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. The participants consisted of four students at SMP Negeri 35 Surabaya who were identified as having low self-confidence due to perceptions of physical appearance. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. Data validity was strengthened through source triangulation involving guidance and counseling teachers and homeroom teachers. The findings indicate that students’ body image lies on a spectrum between self-acceptance and dissatisfaction with certain body parts, influenced by internal and external factors. Students with positive body image tend to have better self-confidence, while negative body image is associated with feelings of shame, anxiety, and a tendency to withdraw. This study concludes that body image plays an important role in shaping junior high school students’ self-confidence.

Abstract

This articIe aims to discuss the impIementation of individuaI counseIing and group counseIing service management as an effort to improve learning achievement in students. In the context of education, counseIing pIays an important roIe in heIping students overcome various probIems that can hinder their Iearning process, both academically and emotionally. Through the impIementation of effective management, individuaI counseIing services can provide speciaI attention to students who need intensive guidance, whiIe group counseIing can create a positive sociaI support environment. These individuaI and group counseIing services aIso support students in overcoming barriers to Iearning achievement. The management of the impIementation of individuaI and group counseIing services incIudes pIanning (PIanning), organizing (Organizing), impIementing (Actuating), and controIIing (ControIIing) in coordination with various parties in the schooI. The research method used is the Iibrary method or Iiterature study. Abstract

Guidance and counseling are assistance services provided for counselees or students and are provided both for individuals and groups to achieve certain goals and develop optimally in personal, social, learning, and career fields. Management is a process that includes planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling in carrying out an activity or program process, which has the aim of controlling the implementation of an event or program from start to finish. As is the case with guidance and counseling programs that require management in its implementation, a complex program makes management indispensable in it to control and structure the program so that it is planned, and runs well in accordance with the objectives of the program formed. The guidance and counseling program that will be discussed includes group, classical, and cross-class guidance programs. Guidance programs that do not only run for one individual but more than individual units and more than group units, therefore management takes a very important role in the implementation of the program. This research aims to identify the role of management in the implementation of guidance and counseling programs, especially in group, classical, and cross-class guidance programs. The method used in this research is qualitative with literature review techniques with a focus on management and group, classical, and cross-class guidance programs. The results obtained in this study show that there is an important role in management in the implementation of classical guidance programs with a focus on group, classical, and cross-class guidance.

Abstract

This study aims to identify how management evaluation contributes to the management and improvement of guidance and counseling services in schools. This study uses a qualitative approach based on literature studies. In an activity, a re-evaluation is needed to see whether the implementation is in accordance with the initial planning, therefore an evaluation is needed. Evaluation in guidance and counseling management is present as a forum to assess the progress of a BK program. The results show that data-based management evaluation can improve the quality of BK services, strengthen support for students, and optimize the role of counselors in schools. These findings provide strategic insights for educational administrators, counselors, and policy makers for the implementation of more effective management evaluation, supporting the development of BK services in a sustainable manner. Not only that, but the evaluation also involves a detailed analysis of the results that have been carried out to ensure that future implementation is smoother and has minimal shortcomings. This study provides practical recommendations for the implementation of more effective management evaluation in supporting the development of BK services in schools.
