Abstract

Baru-baru ini, beberapa Muslim cenderung tetap dalam posisi ekstrem terkait dengan agama mereka. Mereka menganggap kitab suci sebagai sumber tekstual-eksklusif dari ajaran agama yang kemudian menghasilkan pemahaman radikal tentang Islam. Sementara itu, yang lain memahami Islam secara kontekstual dan bebas yang menyebabkan munculnya Islam liberal. Sebagian besar dari keduanya berperilaku berlebihan dalam menerapkan agama yang terkait dengan syariah andmu’amalah. Di antara keduanya, sebuah kelompok yang memiliki pandangan Islam moderat muncul dengan Bisri Mustofa, seorang penerjemah Jawa yang pemikirannya dapat ditemukan di Tafsiral-Ibriz, sebagai tokohnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif-analitis yang lebih melihat pemahaman al-Qur'an dalam syariah dan mu'amalah. Tulisan ini menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Bisri Mustofa memiliki moderat meskipun penafsirannya tentang pesan Al-Qur'an dengan karakteristik yang adil, menengah, seimbang, dan toleran 2) Syariah moderat Bisri Mustofa dapat tercermin dalam beberapa aspek dalam melakukan lima shalat, dhikir, dan berdoa, dan pelafalan Al-Qur'an, tashbi> h, dan tahli> l. 3) Pemikiran moderat Bisri Mustofa tentang mu'amalah tercermin dalam etika kunjungan, kerja, dan manajemen ekonomi.Recently, some Muslims tend to stay in an extreme position related to their religion. They consider the scripturesas textual-exclusive source of religious teachings which then results in radical understanding of Islam. Meanwhile, others understand Islam contextulally and free which cause the emergence of liberal Islam. Most of the two behave excessively in applying religionrelated to sharia andmu’amalah. In between the two, a group having moderate view of Islam appears with Bisri Mustofa, a Javanese interpreter whose thought could be found inTafsiral-Ibriz, as its figure. This research utilizes descriptive-analytical method looking more on al-Qur’an understanding in sharia dan mu’amalah. This writing suggests that: 1) Bisri Mustofa has moderatethoughtin his interpretation of Qur’anic messages with fair, middle, balanced, and tolerantcharacteristics 2) Bisri Mustofa’s moderate thoughtof sharia could be reflected in some aspects in performing five prayers, dhikir, and pray, and recitingal-Qur’an, tashbi>h,and tahli>l. 3) Bisri Mustofa’s moderate thought of mu’amalah is reflected in the ethicsof visiting, working, and economic management.

Abstract

Factors related to the discrimination of women's rights include religious perspectives that are contaminated by cultural patriarchy, race, social strata, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, and health. Liberation of women's rights can be realized by Islamic organizations which are free from the negative influence of patriarchal culture. These organizations are Nahdatul Ulama 'and Muhammadiyah. The focus of the discussion includes the gender perspective of Nahdatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah. it also want to trace the gender equality perspective of Nahdatul Ulama' and Muhammadiyah. The method used by the writer is in the form of library research. Sources of data are taken from relevant theme raised by the author. The results of research are giving freedom for women to realize their rights and potential both in the public sector and domestic sector.

Abstract

Artikel ini berusaha mengungkap bagaimana peran kiai dapat dimaksimalkan untuk melakukan transformasi pesantren dengan menitikberatkan pada aspek keadilan gender di lingkungan pesantren. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Dengan metode deskriptif-partisipatoris, tulisan ini menunjukkan peran kiai sebagai sumber kebijakan yang memiliki implikasi langsung terhadap proses pengarusutamaan gender. Hal ini bertolakbelakang dengan pemahaman umum yang merujuk pada pandangan Geertz dimana Kiai sebagai penjaga tradisi dan konservatisme beragama, sulit untuk menerima perubahan. Namun saat ini, ditemukan berbagai upaya yang membuktikan argumentasi Dhofir terhadap Geertz, bahwa kiai dapat menjadi pusat inovasi di lingkungan pesantren yang secara signifikan. Melalui perencanaan dan pembiasaan, seluruh aktivitas yang melibatkan santri putra maupun putri di pesantren Subulussalam Tulungagung diupayakan untuk menunjukkan model gender mainstreaming, dimana keduanya memiliki hak dan kewajiban yang sama dalam menjalankan program pondok pesantren. Kerja sama tersebut untuk mengajarkan dengan santri bahwa kedudukan putra dan putri adalah setara baik dalam ruang publik maupun ruang domestik.

Abstract

This study discusses the development of interpretative meaning in the Qur’anic exegesis carried out by Gus Yahya Cholil Staquf, with a specific focus on Surah Al-Mu’minun verse 6. The central focus of this research lies in how Gus Yahya, in addition to his role as a national political figure, actively contributes to Qur’anic interpretation through his teachings delivered to students at the Raudlatut Thalibin Islamic Boarding School in Rembang. These tafsir sessions are broadcast live via the Gus Mus Channel on YouTube, serving as an important medium for disseminating Islamic thought and Qur’anic interpretations to the broader public. This study aims to examine the form of meaning development applied by Gus Yahya Cholil Staquf in interpreting QS. Al-Mu’minun:6 and to analyze the implications of that meaning development for Qur’anic interpretation in the contemporary era. The method used is descriptive-analytical with a library research approach. The primary source of this research is the recorded tafsir sessions of Tafsir Jalalain by Gus Yahya on the Gus Mus Channel, while secondary sources include relevant books, journals, and scholarly references. The findings reveal that there are three main functions in the development of meaning in Gus Yahya’s interpretation of QS. Al-Mu’minun verse 6, first, the historical function, which highlights that the phrase mā malakat aymānuhum previously referred to the practice of owning female slaves; Second, the meaning development function, which reflects efforts to recontextualize the phrase to align with contemporary legal and social values, such as lawful relationships through marriage; and Third, the implicative function, which emphasizes the verse’s social and ethical significance in shaping individual moral awareness and preserving sexual integrity in modern society. The main contribution of this study lies in how Gus Yahya’s contextual interpretation serves as a bridge between classical meanings and universal human values in the modern era. As such, this research offers a significant contribution to grounding the Qur’an as a text that remains relevant and transformative amid the challenges of contemporary times.
