Abstract

Macrozoobenthos is an animal species that lives on the bottom of the waters and has various roles in the ecosystem, such as its role as a biological indicator that reacts to the condition of water quality so that its existence can be used as an indicator of water quality. This study aims to determine the diversity and abundance of macrozoobenthos in the mangrove ecosystem of Persatuan Village, Pohuwato Regency. This type of research is quantitative descriptive, the data collection method uses a survey method and the determination of observation stations uses a purposive sampling technique. Sampling was carried out at 2 stations, namely station 1 muddy substrate type and station 2 sandy mud. Based on the Macrozoobenthos data obtained in the mangrove ecosystem of Persatuan Village, there are 22 species consisting of 15 families and 22 genera with a total of 5,363 individuals. The diversity of Macrozoobenthos at station 1 obtained a value of H '= 2.42 and station 2 with a value of H '= 1.51. The abundance at stations 1 and 2 has a high category. The high value of the Abundance index at station 1 and station 2 indicates the presence of a dominant species, namely the Telescopium mauritsi species. The Telescopium mauritsi species has the highest abundance at each station with an index value of Di = 0.311.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the diversity and abundance of kingfisher species in the Marisa watershed, Karangetang Village. The method employed was Point Count, which involved 5 counting points, each 200 meters apart, with a viewing distance of 50 meters and observation time of 20 minutes. The study identified 4 kingfisher species from the Alcedinidae family, two of which are endemic (Ceyx fallax, Pelargopsis melanorhyncha) and two non-endemic (Alcedo meninting, Todirhamphus chloris) in the forest edge area point count 1,2 with diversity index H' = 3,00 (high) and point count  3, 4 and 5 community farmland area with diversity index H' = 3,26 (high). Among the four species, the most dominant was C. fallax (Di = 38,77%), T. chloris (Di = 36,73%), Alcedo meninting (Di = 22,45%), and Pelargopsis melanorhyncha (Di = 2,04%), indicating a moderate dominance in abundance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of student understanding of environmental change and conservation in grade X of SMA Negeri 1 Tilango. The study used a descriptive quantitative approach, involving 25 grade X3 students. The method used was a multiple-choice test based on seven indicators of understanding: identifying, explaining, interpreting, classifying, comparing, summarizing, and understanding. The results showed that all indicators improved from the pretest, which was generally in the low category, to the posttest, which reached an average of 77.81%, categorized as high. This improvement reflects that the applied learning process was able to improve students' conceptual mastery of environmental change and conservation, while simultaneously strengthening their analytical thinking skills. A comparison of pretest and posttest scores indicates that the instrument used was effective in measuring students' conceptual understanding and that the applied learning positively influenced learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on student learning outcomes in the concept of Life Organization Systems. This research is experimental research, with the research design used being a one group pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique used in this research was the total sampling technique. The population in this study was all class VII of SMP Negeri 3 Biluhu for the 2024/2025 academic year. The sample in this study consisted of 3 classes, namely the experimental class, the replication 1, and the replication 2, The experimental and replication classes were determined randomly. Research data was collected using test techniques, then the data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, which include normality tests, homogeneity tests, hypothesis tests, and n-gain analysis. The results obtained for the concept of Life Organization Systems using the PBL model through hypothesis testing where for the Tcount in the experimental class was 2.42; replication 1 was 2.32; replication 2 was 2.29, and the Ttable for experimental class was 2.14; replication 1 was 2.18; replication 2 was 2.16. It can be concluded that the hypothesis testing in each class is that the Tcount is greater than the Ttable. Thus, the implementation of PBL model has an effect on student learning outcomes in the concept of Life Organization Systems.

Abstract

Background: Several students experience difficulties in mastering biological classification concepts. To address this issue, a digital E-Flashcard was developed as an instructional medium that supports technology-integrated learning, enhances motivation and comprehension, and offers flexible and practical use. This study evaluates the validity, practicality, and impact on learning outcomes of the E-Flashcard designed for Tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Gorontalo. Methodology: This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model, with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 20 students from class X4 at SMA Negeri 2 Gorontalo. The instruments used included interview instruments, media and material validation instruments, and pretest and posttest instruments. Findings: The evaluation results indicated that the developed E-Flashcard met high feasibility standards, with material validation reaching 95.33% and media validation achieving 91%, both categorized as very feasible. Practicality assessment showed highly positive responses, reflected by a 98.5% score from teachers and 86% from students, both within the very practical category. Furthermore, analysis of learning improvement based on pretest and posttest scores yielded an N-gain value of 0.55, which falls into the moderate improvement level. These findings confirm that the E-Flashcard media satisfies the criteria of validity and practicality and demonstrates a meaningful improvement in student learning outcomes during limited-scale implementation. Contributions: This research advances digital biology instruction by introducing and empirically validating an ADDIE-based E-Flashcard model that enhances students’ conceptual understanding of biological classification, offering a scalable alternative to conventional printed flashcards in secondary education
