Abstract

Assessing speaking ability is a complex task, more difficult than assessing listening, reading, or writing abilities. This is because what is said when speaking is quickly forgotten, so evaluation requires sufficient time to pay attention to the speaking process, not just knowledge of the material being discussed. To carry out this evaluation, the research method generally used is a review of related literature. This research involves collecting information related to a specific topic. In order for a speaking ability evaluation to be carried out successfully, it is necessary to properly understand the basic concepts, learning processes, evaluation techniques, as well as planning and implementation procedures.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find the problems of advanced writing skills of upper elementary school students, and provide solutions. The research method used is a literature review. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that there are two factors that cause students' difficulties in writing at a high level, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include students' weak motor skills, weak visual memory, low students' interest and motivation to learn, and finally students' study habits in class and at home. Meanwhile, external factors include lack of attention from parents towards students, an atmosphere at home that is less supportive, environmental conditions and finally the influence of social media. The lack of writing skills in elementary school students may also be caused by the less than optimal use of innovative learning methods. One way to optimize the writing learning process and increase students' writing motivation is to increase students' interest in writing through interesting learning models and learning media.

Abstract

Listening skills also influence students' writing skills. In every writing lesson, students need inspiration through information or stories they hear from teachers or other people. Therefore, listening skills are correlated with writing skills. Furthermore, the connection between listening skills and reading lies in the pronunciation of the sound of a word. Without listening, students cannot identify the sounds of words so they may not be able to read. The important role of evaluating language learning in elementary schools is to become the basis for decision making and policy making, measuring student achievement, evaluating the curriculum, accrediting schools, monitoring the use of public funds, improving educational materials and programs. Learning evaluation functions for development and accreditation. In conducting language learning evaluations in elementary schools, test and non-test techniques can be used. The purpose of assessing listening skills learning is to find out whether everything experienced by students in learning is in accordance with basic competencies, especially indicators.
