Abstract

Pluchea indica L. is a plant have some secondary metabolite compounds namely flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, terpenoids, and phenols that have antioxidants activity. The purpose of this study was to compare the content of antioxidant compounds analyzed using LC-MS and determine the relationship of antioxidant activity through the DPPH test on P. indica leaves extracted by maceration and soxhlation. The extracts from maceration and soxhlation of P. indica leaves were analyzed using LC-MS to determine the composition of the compounds contained therein then continued with the antioxidant activity test using the DPPH method. In the antioxidant activity test using DPPH, each extract was made 3 variations of concentration, namely 10 ppm, 50 ppm, and 100 ppm, and measured based on the absorbance of DPPH at a wavelength of 515 nm using a UV-vis spectrometer. The results of analysis using LC-MS on macerated extracts of P. indica leaves are 112 compounds consisting of flavonoids 72.4841%, phenols 9.00625%, terpenoids 6.11827%, alkaloids 6.99075%, tannins 2.2256%, and saponins 2.04458%. The Soxhlet extraction contained 116 compounds consisting of flavonoids 67.14345%, phenols 8.95854%, terpenoids 13.82165%, alkaloids 5.35637%, tannins 2.53305%, and saponins 0.2969%. The results of the antioxidant activity test using DPPH on maceration extracts have an IC50 value of 76.7576 and soxhlation 62.580 ppm. Both maceration and soxhlation extracts of P. indica leaves contain compounds that have high antioxidant potential and have good antioxidant activity, namely in the strong antioxidant category. However, the soxhlation extract has more compounds and a lower IC50 value. Thus, the more antioxidant compounds contained in an extract, the lower the IC50 value so that the better the antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pelaku UMKM di Kelurahan Tambak Kemerakan, Kecamatan Krian, Kabupaten Sidoarjo dalam memanfaatkan teknologi digital khususnya melalui website store.umaha.ac.id sebagai media promosi dan penjualan produk. Metode yang digunakan meliputi analisis situasi melalui wawancara, persiapan materi dan instrumen kegiatan, serta pelaksanaan pelatihan yang mencakup penyampaian materi, simulasi, dan sesi tanya jawab. Para peserta dikenalkan pada konsep digital marketing, cara kerja website, serta proses pengiriman data produk untuk ditampilkan secara online. Selain itu, dilakukan optimalisasi SEO agar produk UMKM mudah ditemukan melalui mesin pencari Google. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peserta mendapatkan pemahaman baru tentang pentingnya pemasaran digital dan menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dalam memanfaatkan platform yang disediakan. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat membantu meningkatkan visibilitas usaha mitra UMKM secara online, memperluas jangkauan pasar, dan berdampak langsung pada peningkatan penjualan serta keuntungan usaha.

Abstract

Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) and anting-anting (Acalypha indica Linn), can be studied as efficacious malaria medicinal plants for preventing the development of malaria plasmodium resistance. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the combination of 80% ethanol extract of sunflower leaves and anting-anting as antimalarials. This study included extraction of sunflower leaves and anting-anting plant separately using the maceration method for 24 hours with 80% ethanol. Stirring is aided by a 3 hour shaker and then the obtained extracts were mixed and tested in vivo antimalarial activity against mice test animals. Data of the parasitemia degree was analyzed for the determination of Effective Dose (ED50) using probit analysis then determination of Combination Index (CI) value. The results of the antimalarial activity test on tested mice were ED50 of 1.23 mg/kg human body with a Combination Index (CI) of 0.46 (CI <1) which means synergistic potency.

Abstract

Cangkang kerang simping dan cangkang telur yang sering dianggap limbah berpotensi sebagai sumber antioksidan alami, mendukung kesehatan dan pengurangan limbah. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi aktivitas antioksidan, kadar fenolik, dan flavonoid dalam ekstrak etanol cangkang kerang simping dan cangkang telur. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan merendam serbuk cangkang dalam etanol dan memekatkannya menggunakan rotary evaporator. Aktivitas antioksidan diukur dengan metode DPPH, sementara kadar flavonoid dan fenolik dianalisis menggunakan spektrofotometri UV-Vis dengan kuersetin dan asam galat sebagai standar. Cangkang telur memiliki kandungan flavonoid dan fenolik yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan cangkang kerang, yang mendukung potensinya sebagai sumber antioksidan yang lebih efektif. Cangkang kerang simping dan cangkang telur memiliki potensi sebagai sumber antioksidan alami, dengan cangkang telur menunjukkan efektivitas lebih tinggi karena kandungan flavonoid dan fenoliknya yang lebih tinggi. Temuan ini membuka peluang pemanfaatan cangkang kerang dan telur dalam produk nutraseutikal dan makanan fungsional untuk kesehatan

Abstract

Hyperlipidemia, especially elevated Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, is a global health problem that increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. Conventional treatment with statins is effective, but it often causes side effects. This study aims to evaluate the potential of sandalwood (Santalum album L.) leaf, biduri (Calotropis gigantea) leaf, and arabic bidara (Ziziphus spina-christi L.) leaf as an antihypercholesterolemia agent using ethanol extract to lower cholesterol levels in mice.  Extraction is carried out through maceration with 96% ethanol for 3 x 24 hours, then evaporated to produce a thick extract.  The samples used in the antihyperocholesterolterol test were extracts of Santalum album L., Calotropis gigantea, and Ziziphus spina-christi L. Six groups, six mice each, consisted of: negative control (I), positive control (II), simvastatin drug control (III), and three test dose groups (IV: 3.5 mg/20 g BW, V: 7 mg/20 g BW, VI: 14 mg/20 g BW). Cholesterol levels were measured by the Point of Care Testing (POCT) Method using a cholesterol strip test after a blood draw.  The results showed that simvastatin can lower cholesterol by 59 mg/dl. Moreover, Santalum album L. leaf extracts provided the most significant reduction in cholesterol (33 mg/dl), followed by Ziziphus spina-christi L. (31 mg/dl) and Calotropis gigantea (28 mg/dl).  Although simvastatin showed a greater decrease, the plant extract still exerted significant effects as an alternative to antihypercholesterolemia therapy. This decrease in cholesterol is related to the content of active compounds, such as flavonoids and phenolics, that reduce LDL oxidation. These findings suggest that Santalum album L. has promising potential as an herbal antihypercholesterolemic agent

Abstract

Coffee contains a lot of phenolic compounds, especially chlorogenic acid, therefore many studies have examined the potential of coffee as an antioxidant. Antioxidants can inactivate oxidation reactions and prevent the formation of free radicals. This research aimed to determine the total phenolic and flavonoid content of the ethanol extract of robusta coffee (Coffea canephora) and the ethanol extract of arabica coffee (Coffea arabica), as well as determine the % inhibition value of Arabica coffee ethanol extract and Robusta coffee ethanol extract and their combination as antioxidants in vitro. Robusta and Arabica coffee powders were soaked in ethanol solvent, respectively, and the filtrate was concentrated using a rotary evaporator. The extract’s flavonoid and total phenolic content were measured by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. An antioxidant activity test was carried out using the DPPH method. The phenolic content of the ethanol extract of robusta coffee powder and the ethanol extract of arabica coffee powder were 7.98 and 9.16 mg QE/g, respectively. The total flavonoid content of the ethanol extract of robusta coffee powder and the ethanol extract of arabica coffee powder were 11.5 and 14.2 mg GAE/g, respectively. The highest % inhibition values of the ethanol extract of arabica coffee powder and the ethanol extract of robusta coffee and their combination as antioxidants in vitro were 71.1, 85.1, and 86.4%.

Abstract

Anthracnose disease in chillies is a serious problem for farmers. So far, synthetic fungicides have been used as solution for the treatment of this disease. However, the side effects of synthetic fungicides to  public health and environment raised awareness on  alternative fungicides derived from natural resources. This paper aims to review plants that  are  potential as an alternative to fungicides for chili plantation, fabrication of test solutions, in vitro and in vivo fungicide test. Many plants  were investigated as alternatives to plant-based fungicide. The utilization of leaves as samples including rhizomes, roots, tubers, weevils, seeds, fruit, flowers and  other parts of the plant. The extract fabrication method used as a fungicide test include: maceration method, gradual fractionation method, and decoction method. The maceration method is the method most widely used to extract fungicidal active compounds from plants. Some studies that carried out in vitro tests were unable to compare with synthetic fungicides so it was not possible to determine their effectiveness for plant-based fungicide for chillies when compared to synthetic fungicides. In vitro Extract of 80% alcohol and 10%/60% n-hexane of pacar cina (Aglaia odorata L.) leaves can be compared with the performance of propineb 0.2%. In addition, the 60% and 70% kirinyuh (Chromolaena odorata L.) leaf extracts were also able to match Acrobat 0.2% performance in vitro. Based on the in vivo test, suren (Toona sureni Merr) leaf extract and nut bulbs can be used as an alternative to vegetable / natural fungicides to help overcome the problem of anthracnose in chilies.

Abstract

UMKM (Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah) “Dapur Atha” yang bergerak dibidang bisnis makanan selama ini penjualannya tidak mengalami peningkatan hal ini dikarenakan adanya proses pemasaran yang kurang meluas. Mitra hanya memasrkan produknya hanya di sekitar Wilayah Taman atau wilayah tempat produksi saja. Dengan adanya kondisi tersebut, maka diperlukan kemajuan teknologi dengan melakukan penjualan melalui pemasaran online dengan media Website Statis dan Pengembangan Pemasaran melalui E-Commerce Shopee. Tujuan program ini adalah melaksanakan sosialisasi dan pelatihan tentang pemasaran secara online bagi mitra. Adapun hasil kegiatan dari program ini adalah adanya peningkatan kunjungan dan penjualan baik dalam Website Statis dan E-Commerce Shopee.

Abstract

Dalam Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM), kami memilih mitra warga Desa Wonokerto Kecamatan Wonosalam Kabupaten Jombang. Hasil panen di Desa tersebut antara lain: singkong, pisang, jagung, cengkeh dan masih banyak hasil alam lainnya. Berdasarkan hasil survey yang dilakukan oleh tim PkM diperoleh informasi bahwa pisang merupakan salah satu hasil panen yang melimpah sehingga limbah kulit pisang yang dihasilkan juga melimpah. Masyarakat Desa Wonokerto belum mengetahui cara pemanfaatan limbah kulit pisang tersebut. Belum pernah ada sosialisasi dan edukasi bahkan pelatihan terkait pemanfaatan limbah kulit pisang. Tujuan PkM ini adalah untuk mengadakan sosialisasi, memberikan edukasi dan ketrampilan kepada Masyarakat Desa Wonokerto Kecamatan Wonosalam Kabupaten Jombang tentang cara pembuatan sabun mandi menggunakan bahan kulit pisang. Pelaksanaan kegiatan PkM ini menggunakan metode sosialisasi dan demonstrasi. Dalam pelakanaan PkM, peserta juga diberikan kesempatan untuk bertanya dan berdiskusi. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam kegiatan PkM ini adalah mitra mendapatkan pengetahuan, pengalaman dan keterampilan terkait cara pembuatan sabun mandi menggunakan bahan kulit pisang. Dengan demikian, Masyarakat Desa Wonokerto dapat mencoba mengaplikasikan pembuatan sabun mandi menggunakan bahan kulit pisang dengan peralatan yang sederhana di rumah masing-masing.

Abstract

Dalam program PTDM (Produk Teknologi yang Didiseminasikan ke Masyarakat) ini, kami memilih mitra UMKM yang bergerak di bidang ekonomi produktif dalam penggorengan kerupuk upil. Permasalahan prioritas yang sudah disepakati antara tim pengusul dan mitra 1 antara lain: 1) kapasitas produksi penggorengan kerupuk yang masih rendah dikarenakan peralatan yang digunakan masih sederhana dan sudah aus, 2) mitra belum mempunyai mesin perajang kerupuk dan mesin pengering kerupuk. Adapun permasalahan prioritas mitra 2 adalah mitra memerlukan teknologi yang berupa mesin penggorengan dengan kapasitas produksi yang lebih besar dan mesin yang tidak manual sehingga bisa mengurangi penggunaan tenaga manusia. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk mengatasi permasalahan prioritas yang sedang dihadapi mitra 1 adalah mendiseminasikan mesin penggoreng kerupuk, mesin perajang kerupuk, mesin pengering kerupuk dan untuk mengatasi permasalahan prioritas yang sedang dihadapi mitra 2 dengan mendiseminasikan mesin pengering kerupuk. Metode pelaksanaan program diseminasi teknologi untuk peningkatan kapasitas produksi pada UMKM kerupuk di Sidoarjo yang telah dilakukan meliputi: identifikasi kebutuhan mitra, perancangan mesin, pembuatan mesin, uji dan pendampingan operasional dan diseminasi teknologi kepada mitra. Hasil pelaksanaan program PTDM meliputi: 1) teknologi yang didiseminasikan ke mitra mesin perajang kerupuk, mesin pengering kerupuk, mesin penggoreng kerupuk. Para mitra UMKM mempunyai dan mampu mengoperasikan mesin penggoreng kerupuk, mesin perajang kerupuk, dan mesin pengering kerupuk dalam rangka untuk peningkatan kapasitas produksi.
