Abstract

Sungai adalah salah satu aset alam yang tak ternilai harganya bagi kehidupan. Kegiatan bersih – bersih sungai dapat membantu menjaga pasokan air bersih. Pencemaran sungai dapat membahayakan kualitas air dan kesehatan publik. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PkM) dalam program Gerakan Nyemplung Kali (GNK) pada tahun 2023 ini adalah untuk lebih mengedukasi masyarakat tentang dampak pencemaran sungai dan cara-cara untuk mencegahnya. Metode pelaksanaan PkM ini adalah melalui dua tahap, yaitu: 1. Tahap briefing dan 2. Tahap membersihkan sampah yang banyak ditemukan di sekitar aliran sungai. Hasil kegiatan PkM ini adalah siswa SMP YPM, SMA/SMK YPM dan warga sekitar sungai sangat antusias dalam mengikuti program GNK UMAHA tahun 2023. Kegiatan inti dari program GNK UMAHA ini adalah kegiatan bersih – bersih sungai. Kegiatan GNK UMAHA tahun 2023 tersebut juga dalam rangka untuk mencegah pencemaran air sungai, untuk mempertahankan fungsi normal sungai, memperbaiki kualitas air, dan menghidupkan kembali biota sungai yang sebelumnya tercemar. Kegiatan PkM GNK UMAHA tahun 2023 yang diselenggarakan di area sungai depan UMAHA berjalan dengan lancar. Kegiatan GNK UMAHA memiliki potensi untuk mengurangi jumlah sampah plastik yang ada di aliran sungai pelayaran. Selain itu, kegiatan GNK dapat membuat masyarakat lebih sadar akan kelestarian lingkungan. Kampanye kesadaran lingkungan melalui kegiatan GNK ini dapat membantu mengubah perilaku dan pola pikir manusia tentang sungai.

Abstract

Abstrak Penggunaan gel hand sanitizer saat ini menjadi jalan keluar untuk menjaga kesehatan dan kebersihan tangan agar lebih praktis dan mudah dibawa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan antiseptik alami dari kombinasi ekstrak daun Miana dan Kemuning terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli dalam bentuk gel. Gel hand sanitizer dibuat dari kombinasi ekstrak daun miana dan kemuning yang menunjukkan daya hambat optimum terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Kombinasi ekstrak daun Miana dan Kemuning dibuat dalam 3 variasi konsentrasi (K1 = 5%: 15%), (K2 = 10%: 10%), dan (K3 = 15%: 5%). Formulasi gel hand sanitizer diuji kemampuannya sebagai antiseptik dan uji stabilitas fisik pada hari ke 0, hari ke 7, hari ke 14, hari ke 21, dan hari ke 28. Konsentrasi optimum dari kombinasi ekstrak daun miana dan kemuning sebagai antiseptik adalah pada kombinasi K3 = 15%: 5%. Kombinasi antiseptik alami K3 (NAK3) menunjukkan daya hambat sebesar 7,33 mm (terhadap Staphylococcus aureus) dan 09,00 mm (terhadap Escherichia coli) yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang. NAK3 memenuhi persyaratan untuk uji organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, kemampuan menyebar, dan adhesi, serta stabil selama penyimpanan..  Kata kunci: antiseptik, miana, kemuning, gel, hand sanitizer Abstract The use of hand sanitizer gel is currently a more practical and portable way to maintain health and hand hygiene. This study aims to generate a natural antiseptic from a combination of Miana and Kemuning leaves extract toward Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli in gel formulation. The hand sanitizer gel is made from a combination of Miana and Kemuning leaves extract which shows optimum inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. The combination of Miana and Kemuning leaves extracts was made in 3 variations of concentration (K1 = 5%: 15%), (K2 = 10%: 10%), and (K3 = 15%: 5%). The hand sanitizer gel formulation tested its ability as an antiseptic and on physical stability test on day 0, day 7, day 14, day 21, and day 28. The optimum concentration of the combination of Miana and Kemuning leaves extracts as an antiseptic is at a combination of K3 = 15%: 5%. The combination K3 Natural Antiseptic (NAK3) showed an inhibitory power of 7.33 mm (against Staphylococcus aureus) and 09.00 mm (against Escherichia coli) which was included in the moderate category. The NAK3 meets the requirements for organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, and adhesion, and is stable during storage. Keywords: antiseptic, miana, kemuning, gel, hand sanitizer

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a combination of ethanol extracts of Biduri (Calotropis gigantea L.) and Bidara (Ziziphus spina-christi L.) leaves in reducing cholesterol levels in mice induced with hypercholesterolemia, as well as to determine the optimal dose and combination ratio. This experimental laboratory study involved several stages, including extract preparation, preparation of extract suspensions, preparation of simvastatin and propylthiouracil (PTU) suspensions, selection and maintenance of experimental animals, administration of treatments, and measurement of blood cholesterol levels. A total of 72 male mice were divided into 12 treatment groups: negative control, positive control, drug control, and nine groups receiving combinations of extracts with ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 2:1 at three doses (14, 28, and 56 mg/20 g BW). Hypercholesterolemia was induced using PTU for 14 days, followed by oral administration of the extract combinations for 3 days. Cholesterol levels were measured using a spectrophotometer and analyzed using One Way ANOVA. The results showed that the combination of Biduri and Bidara extracts significantly reduced cholesterol levels (p < 0.05), with the highest reduction observed in the 2:1 ratio at a dose of 56 mg/20 g BW, showing a 59.18% decrease (135.47 mg/dL) compared to the positive control. These findings indicate a synergistic effect between the two extracts and suggest their potential as a natural hypocholesterolemic agent.

Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease, and its prevalence continues to increase. Pharmacological therapy using statins is effective but may cause side effects when used long-term. Therefore, exploring natural ingredients as an alternative antihypercholesterolemic therapy is essential. This study aimed to evaluate the activity of a combination of ethanol extracts of Calotropis gigantea L. leaves and Adenanthera pavonina L. on the cholesterol levels of male mice induced with propylthiouracil (PTU). The study was conducted experimentally using a post-test-only control-group design with 36 male mice divided into six groups: negative control, positive control, drug control (simvastatin), and three treatment groups receiving extract combinations at doses of 14, 28, and 56 mg/g BW. The research stages included seven days of animal adaptation, induction of hypercholesterolemia with PTU for 14 days, administration of the extract combination at doses of 14, 28, and 56 mg/g BW for four days, and blood sampling for total cholesterol measurement using an automated chemical spectrophotometer. The results showed a significant increase in cholesterol levels in the positive control group, while simvastatin produced the most significant reduction. The extract combination gradually decreased cholesterol levels with increasing dose, with the highest dose approaching the effect of simvastatin. The paired t-test showed a p-value < 0.05, indicating significant differences between treatments. The combination of Calotropis gigantea L. and Adenanthera pavonina L. leaf extracts has potential as a herbal agent to support antihypercholesterolemic therapy.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service is to increase knowledge on the skin health of middle-aged mothers in Krebet Village, Srengat District through a mentoring program for the use of safe skincare. The methods used are (1) observation and interviews; (2) Learning; (3) Assistance; and (4) Evaluation. Results: Middle-aged mothers who have used various types of skincare products obtained from doctor's clinics and cosmetic stores are 24 people. The results of learning on middle-aged mothers in Krebet Village, Srengat District of the qualitative test method and the dangers of mercury and hydroquinone in skincare products show a good value. with a percentage increase in knowledge of 67%. The results of assistance to middle-aged mothers in Krebet Village, Srengat District in stopping the use of positive skincare containing mercury and hydroquinone through replacement with skincare products that are safe for healthy skin shows good results with a 75% increase in skills so that the quality of health is better maintained.

Abstract

Kesehatan dan kebersihan rongga mulut harus dijaga karena terdapat mikroflora normal, namun akan menjadi patogen sehingga menyebabkan peradangan, nekrosis, dan pembentukan abses. Staphylococcus aureus merupakan penyebab paling umum. Akumulasi sisa makanan terus menempel dan bertumpuk akan menimbulkan plak yang dapat menyebabkan periodontitis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan formulasi terbaik campuran ekstrak daun salam dan Minyak Cengkeh sebagai obat kumur herbal dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Staphylococcus aureus. Metode penelitian ini dengan melakukan maserasi daun salam menggunakan etanol 96%, kemudian dievaporasi untuk mendapatkan ekstrak kental. Obat kumur diformulasi menjadi tiga: formulasi I (1 g ekstrak daun salam / 5 ml minyak cengkeh, formulasi II (2 g / 7,5 ml), dan formulasi III (3 / 10 ml). Kemudian dilanjut dengan evaluasi sediaan obat kumur, yaitu: uji organoleptis, pH, viskositas, homogenitas, stabilitas. Terakhir, dilakukan uji antibakteri data di analisis menggunakan uji One Way ANOVA dan Post Hoc Test (Tukey). Hasil evaluasi sediaan didapatkan rentan nilai yang sesuai standar pada uji organoleptis, homogenitas, stabilitas, dan pH. Hasil uji viskositas didapatkan kekentalan sangat tinggi. Formulasi II merupakan formulasi terbaik yang menghasilkan zona hambat tertinggi terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus (12,9 mm). Uji ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan diantara ketiga formulasi (sig >0,05). Hasil uji Post Hoc Test metode Tukey didapatkan perbedaan secara nyata pada masing-masing bahan dengan formulasi obat kumur (sig < 0,05). Formulasi II merupakan formulasi terbaik yang dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif obat kumur terhadap penyakit periodontitis.

Abstract

There is no consensus on the optimal dosage and mechanism of action of saga leaf ethanol extract in lowering cholesterol levels in test animals; therefore, further research is needed to understand the effectiveness and optimal dose of this plant as a hyperlipidemia therapy. This study aims to determine the optimal dose of ethanol extract from the leaves of the saga tree (Adenanthera pavonina L.) in reducing cholesterol levels in hyperlipidemic mice. The study was conducted on 36 male mice that were acclimatized for 7 days and induced hyperlipidemia using Propylthiouracil. The test animals were divided into six treatment groups, including a negative control, a positive control, a drug control (simvastatin), and three treatment groups with extract doses of 14, 28, and 56 mg/20 g body weight (BW). Cholesterol levels were measured using the spectrophotometry method, and the data were analyzed using the ANOVA test. The results of the ANOVA test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a difference in cholesterol levels between groups. A dose of 56 mg/20 g BW showed the highest reduction in cholesterol levels of 57.87 mg/dL. It was concluded that the ethanol extract of the leaves of the saga tree was effective in reducing the cholesterol levels of hyperlipidemic mice at an optimal dose of 56 mg/20 g BW. These results show the potential of the extract as a natural antihyperlipidemia agent that can be developed into an alternative cholesterol-lowering therapy.

Abstract

Tests on the dosage and effectiveness of turmeric leaf ethanol extract in lowering cholesterol levels in animal models have never been conducted to explore its therapeutic potential. This study aims to determine the effect of turmeric leaf ethanol extract (Curcuma longa) in reducing hypercholesterolemia levels in mice. This study employed an experimental design, dividing 36 mice into six treatment groups. The treatment group consisted of a negative control, a positive control, a drug control, and three doses of turmeric leaf ethanol extract (14 mg/20 g body weight, 28 mg/20 g body weight, and 56 mg/20 g body weight). Cholesterol levels were measured using a spectrophotometer, and the results were analyzed with the ANOVA test. The results showed a significance value of 0.000, indicating a significant difference in the reduction of cholesterol levels between treatment groups (p < 0.05). Turmeric leaf ethanol extract at a dose of 56 mg/20 g body weight resulted in a reduction of 33.6 mg/dL in mouse cholesterol levels, which is higher than that observed with other doses. Turmeric leaf ethanol extract can lower cholesterol levels in mice, with a dose of 56 mg/20 g body weight providing the most significant reduction. This study demonstrates that turmeric leaf ethanol extract has the potential to serve as a natural therapeutic alternative for managing hypercholesterolemia.

Abstract

Daun Calatea Silver Plate (CSP) merupakan tanaman hias yang memiliki karakteristik daun berwarna ungu pada bagian atasnya dan perak pada bagian bawahnya yang mengindikasikan adanya potensi bioaktivitas sebagai antioksidan. Sehingga, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis kadar fenolik, flavonoid total dan mengukur aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak etanol CSP. Uji kadar fenolik total menggunakan metode folin-ciocalteu dengan menggunakan asam galat sebagai senyawa standar. Sedangkan untuk uji kadar flavonoid total menggunakan metode kolorimetri dengan menggunakan AlCl3 dan senyawa kuersetin sebagai standar. Untuk uji aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH dan ABTS. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini adalah ekstrak CSP mengandung senyawa fenolik dengan kadar 203,89 mg GEA/g, senyawa flavonoid dengan kadar 446 mg QE/g, memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai IC50  75,78±2,1 terhadap DPPH dan nilai IC50 87,75±3,0 terhadap ABTS. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak CSP memiliki potensi sebagai antioksidan alami.
