Abstract

Free radicals are reactive oxygen compounds that are known to be compounds that have free or unpaired electrons. Free radicals will look for new partners so that they will easily bind to other substances such as proteins, fats, and DNA in the body, resulting in cell damage and causing various degenerative diseases. To overcome the negative effects of free radicals, a substance that acts as an antioxidant is needed. Sonneratia Ovata or often called pedada by coastal communities is often used to treat various diseases including diabetes, ulcers, analgesic diarrhea, inflammation, pain and accelerate wound healing. This study aims to examine the levels of flavonoid compounds in the ethanol extract of S. ovata leaves using the colorimetric method and antioxidant activity using the ABTS method (2,2 azinobis (3-ethylbenzothiazolin-6- sulfonic acid) and DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) on the ethanol extract of S. ovata leaves. The research process began with the extraction of S. ovata leaves with 96% ethanol, followed by determination of total flavonoid levels and antioxidant testing. From the results of the determination of total flavonoid levels, it was found that the ethanol extract of S. ovata leaves had a flavonoid content of 38,248 ± 0.142 mgQE/gram. In measuring antioxidant activity using the DPPH and ABTS methods, the IC50 values were 31.785 ± 0.047 ppm and 28.303 ± 0.558 ppm, respectively. Based on these results, the ethanol extract of S. ovata provided very strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of less than 50 ppm.

Abstract

Kirinyuh leaves (Chromolaena odorata L.) have the potential as a medicinal plant because of the active compounds contained in kirinyuh leaves (Chromolaena odorata L.). The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of kirinyuh leaves (Chromolaena odorata L.) against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 bacteria. Kirinyuh leaf extract (Chromolaena odorata L.) was carried out using the soxhletation method and the solvent used was 96% ethanol. The concentrations used for each treatment were 30%, 40% and 50%. Each concentration was tested for antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria using the disc diffusion method. The results showed that the extract of kirinyuh leaves (Chromolaena odorata L.) with a concentration of 30% had an average diameter of the inhibition zone of 9.2 mm, a concentration of 40% had an average diameter of the inhibition zone of 12.36 mm, and a concentration of 50% had an average diameter of the inhibition zone of 13.71 mm. The research conducted can be concluded that the extract of kirinyuh leaves can provide the best effect of inhibiting bacterial growth at a concentration of 50% with the results of the anova test p <0.05 which means there is a significant difference compared to other concentrations

Abstract

Escherichia coli merupakan bakteri penyebab infeksi saluran pencernaan seperti diare. Daun putri malu (Mimosa pudica L.) mengandung senyawa flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin, dan terpenoid yang berpotensi sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol dan seduhan daun putri malu terhadap Escherichia coli ATCC 25922. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimental dengan uji difusi cakram. Ekstrak dibuat menggunakan etanol 96%, sedangkan seduhan menggunakan air panas. Zona hambat pertumbuhan bakteri diamati untuk menilai efektivitas masing-masing perlakuan, dan data dianalisis menggunakan uji ANOVA. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol lebih efektif dibandingkan seduhan. Zona hambat tertinggi terdapat pada ekstrak etanol konsentrasi 50% dan 12,5% sebesar 6,6 mm, serta 25% sebesar 4,5 mm. Sementara itu, seduhan menghasilkan zona hambat sebesar 3,3 mm (50%), 1,6 mm (25%), dan 1 mm (12,5%). Hasil ini membuktikan bahwa ekstraksi dengan etanol lebih optimal dalam menarik senyawa aktif antibakteri. Dengan demikian, ekstrak etanol daun putri malu memiliki potensi sebagai antibakteri alami terhadap Escherichia coli.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of life and outcome of therapy for Chronic Kidney Failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta Hospital, the frequency distribution of each factor, and to analyze the relationship between each factor and the patient's quality of life. This research method is a correlation with a cross-sectional approach involving 71 respondents of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis. This study used primary data using the WHOQOL questionnaire and laboratory data. The results of the study were that most respondents had a good quality of life 52%, 70% of respondents were male, 59% were elderly, 51% had completed their last education at high school/vocational high school, and 63% were working. The results of the Spearman Rank test showed no significant relationship between the determinants, namely between age and gender factors with patient quality of life, and between therapy outcomes with patient quality of life, but there was a relationship between education and employment factors with the quality of life of Chronic Kidney Failure patients.

Abstract

Krim adalah formulasi semi-padat yang mengandung satu atau lebih zat aktif yang larut dan terdispersi dalam bahan dasar yang cocok. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan basis krim menggunakan kombinasi asam stearat dan triethanolamine (TEA) dengan metode Simplex Lattice Design (SLD). Basis krim diformulasikanterdiri dari komponen dasar seperti cera alba, cetaceum, paraffin liquidum, dan air, serta emulgator utama berupa asam stearat dan TEA. Hasil rancangan menggunakan metode Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) menghasilkan 7 formula krim dengan variasi komposisi Asam Stearat dan Triethanolamine (TEA). Evaluasi dilakukan terhadap parameter fisik krim seperti pH, viskositas, daya sebar, dan daya lekat. Hasil analisis Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) menunjukkan bahwa model kuartik signifikan terhadap sebagian besar parameter, dengan nilai p-value < 0,05, Adjusted R² tinggi, serta Adeq Precision di atas 4, menandakan validitas model yang baik. Formula optimum diperoleh pada kombinasi 17,920% asam stearat dan 2,080% TEA menghasilkan basis krim dengan karakteristik fisik terbaik: pH mendekati fisiologis, viskositas tinggi, daya sebar sedang, dan daya lekat baik. Abstract

Tanaman kirinyuh (Chromolaena odorata L.) sering dianggap sebagai tanaman pengganggu (gulma) di kalangan masyarakat umum. Penelitian dilakukan secara in vitro untuk mengetahui perbandingan kadar total flavonoid yang lebih tinggi dari pelarut etanol 70% dan 96% ekstrak daun kirinyuh. Penetapan kadar total flavonoid ekstrak etanol 70% dan 96% daun kirinyuh dilakukan dengan metode kalorimetri AlCl3 dengan kuersetin sebagai larutan standar Kemudian menyiapkan lima tabung reaksi dengan konsentrasi kuersetin masing-masing 40, 60, 80, 100, dan 120 ppm. Selanjutnya, ekstrak tersebut dicampurkan dengan larutan reagen AlCl3 10% dalam tabung reaksi baru dengan rasio 1:1, yaitu 1 mL ekstrak dicampur dengan 1 mL larutan reagen AlCl3 dan ditambah 8 mL larutan CH3COOH 5%. Hasil campuran ini kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan spektrofotometer Genesys 30-UV Vis pada panjang gelombang 425 nm untuk membuat kurva standar. Hasil diperoleh dari pengujian dengan metode kalorimetri yaitu ekstrak etanol 70% dan 96% daun kirinyuh dengan kadar total flavonoid 51,415 ± 0,462 mg QE/g dan 61,108 ± 3,030 mg QE/g. Dapat dilihat bahwa ekstrak etanol 96% memiliki kadar total flavonoid yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan ekstrak etanol 70%, hal tersebut dikarenakan etanol 96% memiliki daya tarik senyawa yang lebih kuat untuk menarik senyawa flavonoid dari ekstrak daun kirinyuh daripada etanol 70%.

Abstract

Pneumonia adalah penyakit peradangan paru yang disebabkan karena adanya infeksi akut atau radang pada jaringan paru dan penularannya melalui udara. Sebagian besar pneumonia disebabkan oleh mikroorganisme seperti virus dan bakteri. Menurut Data Riset Kesehatan Dasar (Riskesdas) tahun 2018 prevalensi pneumonia di indonesia yaitu sebesar 2 %, prevalensi pneumonia di provinsi jawa tengah yaitu sebanyak 1,8 %. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui  penggunaan antibiotik pada pasien pneumonia di instalasi rawat inap rumah sakit PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta tahun 2023. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian non eksperimental, Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan data rekam medis pasien pneumonia.  Penelitian ini mendapatkan sampel yaitu 80 sampel serta harus memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Evaluasi ketepatan penggunaan antibiotik pada pasien pneumonia di Instalasi Rawat Inap RS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta tahun 2023 mendapatkan hasil penelitian tepat indikasi sebanyak 100%, tepat obat sebanyak 100%, tepat dosis sebanyak 87,50%, tepat pasien 100%, tepat cara pemberian 100%%. Jadi penggunaan antibiotik pada pasien pneumonia di Instalasi Rawat Inap RS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta tahun 2023 rasional dengan rata-rata persentase tepat indikasi, tepat pasien, tepat obat, tepat dosis, tepat cara pemberian adalah 100%.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat Kabupaten Sukoharjo tentang swamedikasi yang benar dan menyediakan layanan pemeriksaan kesehatan gratis. Latar belakang kegiatan ini adalah pentingnya pengetahuan swamedikasi untuk penanganan penyakit ringan dan kebutuhan akan akses pemeriksaan kesehatan dasar bagi masyarakat. Metode pelaksanaan melibatkan kolaborasi antara Mawar Sharon Peduli, Pemerintah Kabupaten Sukoharjo, serta 72 orang tenaga kesehatan profesional dari berbagai rumah sakit dan apotek di Sukoharjo dan Soloraya dengan target 1000 peserta. Tim pelaksana yang juga merupakan dosen Program Studi Sarjana Farmasi Fakultas Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Duta Bangsa Surakarta sekaligus apoteker praktisi apotek Salam Sehat dan Nana Medika ikut serta berperan dalam proses komunikasi, informasi dan edukasi obat yang sudah diresepkan dokter. Evaluasi dilakukan dengan paserta mengisi kuesioner kepuasan di akhir kegiatan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan antusiasme masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan kesempatan pemeriksaan kesehatan gratis meliputi cek darah dan tensi, serta peningkatan kesadaran tentang praktik swamedikasi yang aman dan efektif. Program ini diharapkan dapat menjangkau seluruh lapisan masyarakat Kabupaten Sukoharjo untuk mendukung kesehatan secara menyeluruh.

Abstract

One way to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals is to increase antioxidant intake. The tapak liman plant (Elephantopus scaber) is one of the plants that has a very high flavonoid compound content that is effective as an antioxidant. One of the cosmetic preparations used to the face is face mist. The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity of the face mist preparation of boiled tapak liman leaves. This study was conducted by making a simple leaf of tapak liman (Elephantopus scaber) then continued with the manufacture of face mist preparations and optimization of glycerin and propylene glycol. The method used to obtain the optimum formula is the simplex lettice design method. The physical quality tests of the preparations carried out were homogeneity test, pH test, irritation test, spray power test, organoleptic test and drying time test. Antioxidant test with DPPH solution on the face mist preparation of boiled simple leaf of tapak liman (Elephantopus scaber). The results of the study obtained an optimum formula with a concentration of 20% glycerin and 10% propyleneglycol. The antioxidant activity of the optimum formula of the face mist preparation of the boiled simplicia of the tapak liman leaves (Elephantopus scaber) obtained an IC50 value of 129.525 ppm.

Abstract

Hair plays an essential role not only as protection for the scalp but also as an aesthetic element that influences appearance. One way to maintain hair health is through the use of hair tonic, a liquid cosmetic preparation formulated to care for and stimulate hair growth. This study aimed to formulate and evaluate the effectiveness of a hair tonic combining hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) and celery (Apium graveolens L.) extracts, both of which are traditionally recognized for their bioactive compounds that promote hair growth. The extracts were obtained by maceration using 96% ethanol and formulated into three concentration variations: F1 (2.5%:7.5%), F2 (5%:5%), and F3 (7.5%:2.5%). The experiment was conducted using male New Zealand White rabbits, with hair growth observed for 28 days, while physical quality parameters such as organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, and viscosity were also evaluated. The results showed that all formulas met the physical quality requirements of hair tonic, but differences in effectiveness were observed between formulas. Formula II (5%:5%) produced the most optimal effect, with an average hair length of 16.86 mm, outperforming Formula I (15.39 mm) and Formula III (13.39 mm), and approaching the positive control (17.89 mm). These findings highlight that the balanced combination of hibiscus and celery extracts provides a synergistic effect on hair growth. In conclusion, the formulated hair tonic not only demonstrated stability and compliance with physical standards but also offers novelty as a natural alternative that may be safer than synthetic minoxidil-based products.
