Abstract

The purpose of the research is to analyze the effectiveness of modified andragogic models in fostering Islamic character that is integrated with local wisdom values. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design, involving 60 students from two Islamic boarding schools as a sample. Data were collected through participatory observation, standardized character scales, and curriculum document analysis. The results showed a significant increase in the aspects of responsibility (p=0.003) and cooperation (p=0.012) compared to the control group, with the greatest effect seen in the internalization of the value of "tepa slira" (tolerance) as a key mediator. The unique findings reveal that the adaptation of the principles of self-directed learning in andragogics can be effective in children when combined with a narrative approach based on folklore. This study not only extends the application of andragogic theory to primary education, but also offers a new conceptual framework, "Andragogy for Children Islamic Character (ACIC)" that is relevant to the context of Islamic education in Indonesia. The practical implications include recommendations for character learning modules based on local wisdom.

Abstract

Chronic illness is a long-term health condition that affects not only physical functioning but also psychological well-being, social relationships, and spiritual life. These multidimensional challenges require individuals to develop adaptive capacities to maintain their quality of life. This study aimed to explore the meaning of resilience in maintaining the quality of life among individuals living with chronic illnesses. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and direct observations involving six purposively selected participants diagnosed with hypertension, stroke, asthma, heart disease, cervical cancer, and diabetes mellitus. The findings revealed that resilience emerged as a dynamic adaptive process enabling participants to accept their illness, regulate emotions, sustain hope, and adjust to life changes caused by chronic disease. Resilience was constructed through six interconnected dimensions, namely personal competence, emotional regulation, self-acceptance, social support, self-control, and spirituality. Among these dimensions, family support and spirituality were identified as the strongest protective resources in helping participants cope with chronic illness. Participants also perceived their illness as a meaningful life experience that strengthened their relationship with God, fostered gratitude, and encouraged personal growth. These findings indicate that the quality of life among individuals with chronic illness is influenced not only by physical health status but also by resilience developed through psychological, social, and spiritual resources. Therefore, interventions for individuals with chronic illnesses should adopt a holistic approach by integrating psychological support, family involvement, and spiritual care to enhance quality of life

Abstract

School well-being is increasingly recognized as a biopsychosocial construct that bridges welfare and subjective well-being theories. However, the field lacks a comprehensive account of its publication trends, intellectual structure, and thematic evolution. This study offers the first decade-spanning bibliometric synthesis of Scopus-indexed school well-being research (2017-2026), screened via PRISMA 2020 to yield 110 eligible articles, analyzed using Biblioshiny (Bibliometrix R package) and VOSviewer for complementary performance analysis and science mapping. Results show scientific production remained stagnant before 2020, rose after the COVID-19 pandemic, consolidated between 2021 and 2023, and reached record output in 2025. Productivity was concentrated among a few author clusters and institutions across Nordic, Western European, and Anglophone research ecosystems, as evidenced by steep Lotka's Law scattering (Beta = 3.51) and a Bradford's Law core of 11 journals. The field's intellectual structure integrates welfare theory, ecological systems theory, subjective well-being theory, and self-determination theory, with thematic evolution shifting toward psychometric validation, gender-differentiated analysis, and bullying-related research. Convergent evidence from keyword co-occurrence and thematic evolution analysis shows sociologically and psychologically oriented clusters increasingly interlinked around the core "school well-being" node, indicating the field is coalescing into an integrative biopsychosocial model, offering a foundation for future theoretical refinement, instrument validation, and evidence-based policy.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the subjective well-being (SWB) of students who have experienced toxic relationships. A qualitative approach with a descriptive phenomenological method was used to explore the subjective experiences of six informants consisting of three main informants and three supporting informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and non-participant observation. The results showed that after leaving toxic relationships, students experienced increased positive affect, such as feelings of relief, happiness, and self-confidence, healthier cognitive evaluations of life, as well as improved social relationships and spirituality. Social support from friends and family, along with involvement in spiritual activities such as worship, also strengthened the recovery process of subjective well-being. These findings indicate that the integration of affect, cognitive evaluation, social relationships, and spirituality forms an important foundation in the recovery and strengthening of students’ psychological well-being after unhealthy relationships.
