Abstract

Background: Adolescents with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) adolescents lack of understanding, access to information, and limited knowledge of the sexual behaviours of their peers in the general population. The need for accurate information about sex education is very important in order to stay safe and healthy. However, there is no appropriate, population-specific, and empirically validated sexual education content for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Education for Adolescents with ID requires media in concrete or real physical form and is designed in an attractive way so that they can understand the topic or theme being taught, All information about educational objects is displayed in the form of three-dimensional embossed images or commonly called pop-up books. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of sex education using the Pop-up Book on the knowledge and attitude of an adolescent student with an ID in Special Primary Schools (SPS) Children 1 Padang.    Subjects and Method: This is a pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest design conducted from April to August 2022. The target population is all students with ID in SPS 1 Padang. This study used purposive sampling, and the sample size is 21. The independent variable of this study was sexual education using the Pop-up Book while the dependent variable was knowledge and attitude were measured using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed by paired t-test. Results: The average knowledge score increased after (Mean= 11.1; SD= 2.47) given the sexual education intervention with Pop-up book media compared to before (Mean= 9.33; SD=2.13), and this result was statistically significant (p = 0.028). The average attitude score increased after (Mean= 5.86; SD= 1.24) given the sexual education intervention with Pop-up book media compared to before (Mean= 3.67; SD= 0.48), and this result was statistically significant (p<o.001). Conclusion: The pop-up book efficacy for students’ understanding of sexual education. Keywords: teenager, perspective, mental retardation, recognition, pop-up book, sexual education. Abstract

Imunisasi Measles Rubella adalah vaksin untuk mencegah penyakit campak dan rubella. MR merupakan penyakit menular yang dapat menginfeksi siapa saja, baik anak-anak maupun orang dewasa muda sehingga dapat menyebabkan masalah kesehatan. Cakupan imunisasi MR mengalami penurunan dari tahun ke tahun dari tahun 2019 sebesar 87% menjadi 42,4% pada tahun 2021. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran faktor yang mempengaruhi ibu terhadap cakupan imunisasi MR rendah pada Bulan Imunisasi Anak Sekolah di SD wilayah kerja Puskesmas Nanggalo Padang. Jenis Penelitian ini ada deskriptif kuantitatif dengan rancangan CrossSectional. Populasi penelitian yaitu ibu yang mempunyai anak kelas 1 SD di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Nanggalo pada bulan Mei tahun 2023 sejumlah 217 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah simple random samplingg dengan besar sampel 136 orang. Analisis data menggunakan analisis univariat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ibu dengan pengetahuan baik (72,1%), ibu dengan sikap tidak mendukung terkait imunisasi MR (59,6%), ibu dengan kepercayaan kurang (69,1%), ibu dengan dukungan keluarga tidak mendukung (59,6%), ibu dengan dukungan petugas kesehatan baik (97,8%), ibu dengan dukunfan tokoh masyarakat mendukung (92,6%), dari  136 orang tua yang tidak memberikan imunisasi MR pada anak (73,5%)

Abstract

Angka kejadian diare mengalami peningkatan setiap tahunnya, termasuk pada anak balita, hal ini menyebabkan angka kesakitan kematian pada anak balita meningkat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor apa saja yang berhubungan dengan kejadian diare pada anak balita. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode pendekatan Cross Sectional. Sampel pada penelitian ini berjumlah 179 ibu anak balita dengan teknik pengambilan sampel total sampling. Penelitian dilakukan dari bulan Februari 2023 sampai dengan Juni 2023. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan kuesioner Pengetahuan dengan Alpha Cronbach 0,978. Instrumen kebiasaan mencuci tangan, terdiri dari 5 pernyataan yang dinyatakan valid dan reliabel dengan Alpha Cronbach 0,904. Dan 1 pertanyaan imunisasi campak Data penelitian ini dianalisa menggunakan Chi-square secara komputerisasi. Hasil analisis pengetahuan didapatkan p value 0,000, pemberian imunisasi 0,000, dan kebiasaan cuci tangan 0,000, yang artinya ada hubungan antara pengetahuan, pemberian imunisasi campak, kebiasaan cuci tangan dengan kejadian diare.

Abstract

Aims: Kidney transplantation can have a big impact on recipients, so they must be able to adapt to many changes, including psychological changes. Psychological changes are the most complained about by post- kidney transplant recipients. Psychological changes including feelings of anxiety and worry after kidney transplantation, these feelings arise due to post-transplant complications, feelings of guilt and fear of rejection, treatment regimens and uncertainty about the future. Therefore, recipients must be able to deal with psychological changes after kidney transplantation. Objective: To explore the psychological changes of post-kidney transplant recipients. Methods: A qualitative study using a phenomenological approach. This study was conducted on 6 participants who were undergone kidney transplantation. Purosive sampling was performed and data was collected through 35 to 60 min. Data collection in this study was carried out through in-depth interviews, audio recording and field notes.  The data analysis technique uses the Collaizi method (1978). Result: This study obtained results including: psychological adaptation transitions and post-transplant anxiety control strategies. Conclusion: Kidney transplant provide better psychological changes if the recipients can implement strategies to control emotions. Therefore, it is important to have family, social and nurses support in controlling the psychological changes of post-kidney transplant recipients.

Abstract

This study aims to see a picture of mothers' knowledge and attitudes in providing exclusive breastfeeding to prevent diarrhea in children under five. The method used is descriptive-analytic. The results of the study showed that the majority of mothers' knowledge was still lacking, namely 101 mothers (56.4%), mothers' attitudes were good, namely 126 mothers (70.4%), and 148 (82.7%) children under five were exclusively breastfed. The conclusion is that mothers' knowledge is still lacking, mothers' attitudes are positive, and most children under five already receive exclusive breast milk. Abstract

Anak menjadi kelompok yang sangat rentan terhadap kekerasan karena selalu diposisikan sebagai sosok lemah atau yang tidak berdaya. Dampak yang dialami oleh anak yang sering mengalami kekerasan mereka akan mengingat semua tindak kekerasan yang dilakukan oleh orang tuanya. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan terjadinya kekerasan pada anak usia sekolah dalam keluarga di Kelurahan Pasie Nan Tigo Kecamatan Koto Tangah Kota Padang. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode cross sectional. Jumlah populasi 682 dan sampel sebanyak 252 responden secara Simple Random Sampling. Analisis data dilakukan secara univariat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik responden berdasarkan jenis kelamin perempuan (ibu) 182 responden (72,2%), berdasarkan usia berusia ?30 tahun 207 responden (82,1%) dan berdasarkan pekerjaan IRT 170 responden (67,4%). Berdasarkan faktor penyebab kekerasan pada anak disimpulkan bahwa responden berpengetahuan cukup tentang kejadian kekerasan pada anak 121 responden (48%), berpendidikan menengah (SMA/Sederajat) 162 responden (64,3%), memiliki sosial ekonomi rendah 151 responden (59,9%), memiliki lingkungan keluarga yang cukup baik sebanyak 110 responden (43,7%) menerapkan pola komunikasi yang kurang baik 199 responden (79%) dan yang ada melakukan kekerasan pada anak 197 responden (78%). Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menambah wawasan bagi orang tua mengenai kekerasan pada anak sehingga orang tua dapat merubah sikap untuk menghindari kejadian kekerasan pada anak.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are dangerous diseases and result in death. The problems found by partners are the low coverage of NCD screening targets, access to health services and the absence of an integrated services centre for the elderly in the targetted area, which impacts NCD monitoring not being carried out. Community service activities aimed to prevent and suppress NCD cases, especially for older people in vulnerable groups. The solution was to detect NCD and provide education and counselling for older people with NCD problems. The community service partner was the Public Health Center. The method of implementing activities was health screening (measuring height and weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and uric acid), providing health education about hypertension and diabetes mellitus and health counselling for those indicated by NCDs in Pauh sub-District, Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The screening results found 15 healthy older people, 13 people with hypertension, ten people with diabetes, nine people with rheumatism, and seven people with high cholesterol. The results of education and counselling found an increase in knowledge by 16.69 points—follow-up plans by partners to form elderly health centres.

Abstract

Anemia is one of the health problems that currently occurs in female adolescents. The intervention strategy in managing anemia is not only by giving iron supplements but also can be prevented by providing proper knowledge about healthy diets, and lifestyle changes and informing the adverse effects of iron deficiencies. The purpose of this research was to determine the effects of health education with a mixed media education intervention program on the knowledge and attitude of female adolescents about iron nutritional anemia at Senior High School number 1 of Talamau. The research design was quasi-experimental with a pre-post test with a control group. The 190 sample was taken by using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique and divided equally into intervention and control groups. The research instruments used in this research were valid and reliable knowledge and attitude questionnaires. The results with paired sample T-tests showed that there is an influence of the health education intervention program with the mixed media education intervention on the knowledge (p-value 0.000) and attitude (p-value 0.000) of female adolescents about iron nutritional anemia. It is recommended that Talu Community Health Center workers make the mixed media education intervention program (PowerPoint lectures, video motions, and demonstrations) one of the health education media in an effort to improve the knowledge and attitude of adolescent females related to iron nutritional anemia.

Abstract

Stunting and anaemia in pregnant women are global conditions that are interrelated with the risk of declining health status in children and pregnant women. Anaemia in pregnant women poses a risk of stunting in children, impacting growth and development, brain function, immune system, and learning abilities. For this reason, the purpose of community service is to detect the early risk of stunting in children and anaemia in pregnant women. The method used is an anthropometric examination of toddlers and pregnant women using weight, height, upper arm circumference, and haemoglobin examination to detect the risk of stunting and anaemia. Inspection and measurement data were processed using KMS online and SPSS and presented descriptively in frequency distribution tables and central tendency values. This activity was carried out at the Durian Tiga Batang Posyandu, Kuranji Health Center, Padang City, on 10 August 2023. Data was collected on 50 infants/toddlers and nine pregnant women who visited the Posyandu. The examination revealed that 48% of infants and toddlers were at risk of stunting (short and very short stature), and 11.1% of pregnant women had anaemia. Thus, early detection of stunting through the online KMS application facilitates data interpretation so that it can provide information quickly and recommend further treatment to mothers to achieve ideal child height growth. In addition, early detection of anaemia can prevent stunting in children.

Abstract

The children with intellectual disability (ID) are vulnerable to Natural Disasters and need priority protection. This leads to the effective implementation of disaster risk reduction (DRR) through integration in school textbooks (ST) as the primary source of teaching and learning, to provide information to ID children. A significant gap is also observed in understanding the extent and adequacy of Natural Disasters in relevant textbooks, accompanied by the potential analysis of appropriate materials. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the inclusion of Natural Disasters in textbooks implemented for ID primary schools using a qualitative content analysis method. All 2020-2021 academic year books were also effectively and efficiently reviewed in presenting the materials of disasters. Results: Six of the 36 textbooks implemented contained natural and integrated materials with thematic titles, namely disasters, seasons, water, land, and earth. In this context, two main themes were identified, including (1) Natural Disasters, namely Hydrology, Geophysics, and Climatology prioritizing floods, landslides/volcanoes, and drought, respectively, and (2) Management Cycle focusing on several stages, such as mitigation, preparedness, and response. Conclusion: The Natural Disasters were experimentally identified, accompanied by integrating the management cycle into school textbooks for students with ID at SPS 1 Padang. This result explained that ID children learned lessons while preparing to encounter Natural Disasters, with preparedness institutionally considered through teachers active participation.
