Abstract

The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) approach to learning plays an important role in improving teacher competency, learning innovation, and technology use skills. However, the results of an initial survey at Sekolah Indonesia Makkah showed that 44.12% of teachers faced challenges in the form of a lack of training and understanding related to STEM integration. This study involved 34 teachers and aimed to improve their ability to implement STEM-based learning through the Collaborative Professional Development (CPD) approach. The results showed that teachers who participated in CPD activities experienced a significant increase in their understanding and readiness to implement STEM. In addition, teachers began to realize the benefits of STEM learning in developing students' affective, cognitive, and psychomotor aspects, as well as its potential as a means of career guidance. As many as 52.94% of teachers stated that they strongly believed that STEM was important to implement, and 58.82% considered the CPD program to be continued. This study recommends that CPD training be carried out continuously with more applicable and contextual materials. Strengthening collaboration between teachers and the integration of STEM-based curriculum is also needed to support the sustainability and effectiveness of the program in the long term.

Abstract

Effective learning management plays an important role in improving educational outcomes by enabling students to access and utilize resources effectively. This community service project aims to support teachers at Pesantren Darul Aufa Sei Buluh, Muara Bulian, Batang Hari, in managing learning resources through a digital library system. Although Pesantren already has a library and provides limited access to digital devices for students, structured resource management can significantly enhance their ability to interact with both digital and non-digital learning materials. This mentoring program is carried out using the Asset--Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which leverages the existing strengths within the community to promote sustainable development. This process includes an initial needs assessment, aspiration identification, strategic planning, goal setting, and implementation. Through this initiative, teachers receive guidance on optimizing learning resources, thereby improving student access to quality educational materials and fostering a more effective learning environment.

Abstract

This study explores the perceived benefits and challenges of the Social Cash Transfer (SCT) programme for learners with disabilities in Kalumbila District, Zambia. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions involving learners, parents, teachers, and social service officers. The findings reveal that while SCT contributes to improved school attendance and basic educational support, significant barriers persist—including limited awareness, cultural stigma, inadequate outreach, and inconsistent disbursement. Schools played a crucial intermediary role, yet gaps in stakeholder coordination and inclusive communication practices hinder full access for eligible children. The study highlights systemic shortcomings in programme design, especially in addressing the complex needs of children with disabilities. It emphasizes the importance of embedding SCT within a broader inclusive social protection framework, supported by assistive services and multi-level collaboration. Despite offering critical insights, the study is limited by its geographic focus and qualitative scope, which constrain generalizability.

Abstract

This community engagement study aimed to empower primary school teachers in Oyo Town to integrate mobile learning as a tool for breaking educational stereotypes and enhancing inclusive pedagogy. The initiative responded to persistent structural and attitudinal barriers in Nigerian primary education by offering stereotype-reduction training through mobile technology. Employing a sequential exploratory mixed-methods approach, the program involved 250 teachers from public and private schools across four local government areas. Qualitative data were gathered via semi-structured interviews, followed by quantitative validation through structured questionnaires. The findings revealed that teachers—particularly younger and less experienced ones—held strong positive perceptions of mobile learning's potential to challenge stereotypes, with no significant differences by gender, qualification, or school type. However, implementation was hindered by policy ambiguity, infrastructural deficits, and limited technological readiness. The study underscores the value of localized, community-responsive interventions in promoting digital inclusion and educational equity. Future research should investigate the long-term impact of mobile learning on classroom practice and explore peer-mentoring strategies to bridge generational gaps among teachers. The study recommends targeted investments in digital infrastructure, supportive policies, and differentiated capacity-building to ensure scalable integration of mobile learning in diverse primary school contexts.

Abstract

The Healthy School Activation program was designed to address the growing concerns of sedentary lifestyles, limited health knowledge, and low physical activity among elementary school students. It seeks to cultivate healthier behaviors, improve learning focus, and promote a collaborative school culture involving students, teachers, and parents. This qualitative study involved 120 fifth grade students from two elementary schools in Muara Bulian, divided into intervention and control groups. Ten teachers participated as key informants. Data collection methods included questionnaires, anthropometric assessments, and semi-structured interviews. The intervention led to a 35% increase in students' physical activity levels and improved health knowledge from 40% to 85%. A notable reduction in body mass index was observed among overweight students. Positive shifts were also reported in students’ attitudes toward physical activity, accompanied by enhanced focus and peer interaction in the classroom. Findings suggest that the program is effective in promoting active and healthy lifestyles among elementary students. The program adopts a collaborative strategy involving educators and families, providing a feasible model for promoting active lifestyles and fostering a supportive, health oriented school culture that can be implemented broadly and sustainably.

Abstract

Agritourism promotes sustainable rural development by integrating agricultural activities with tourism. This community service program was designed to enhance agritourism management in Batungsel village, a village in Pupuan subdistrict, Tabanan regency, Bali through the creation of a mini-encyclopedia—referred to as the miniclopedia—which provides comprehensive information on various plants cultivated within the agritourism area. The program was implemented through a combination of four key activities: socialization, discussion, mentoring, and training. The miniclopedia serves as an educational tool for visitors, offering detailed insights into plant species, their benefits, cultivation techniques, and ecological roles. The outcomes of the program were twofold: first, the development of a comprehensive miniclopedia through collaborative efforts with local farmers and youth groups; second, the empowerment of these community members to guide visitors effectively, thereby strengthening their agricultural identity and awareness. These results were achieved through the active participation of local farmers and youth group members. This initiative is expected to enhance visitor experiences, increase environmental awareness, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of agritourism activities. Furthermore, the program exemplifies the integration of education and tourism to foster a deeper appreciation of local biodiversity and agricultural practices

Abstract

Bullying remains a critical issue in Indonesian elementary schools, yet culturally adapted preventive interventions are still limited. This study aimed to implement and evaluate an anti-bullying psychoeducation program for elementary students in Cimahi City. Using a quasi-experimental pre–post design, the program was delivered to 40 students in grades 3 and 4 across two public schools. The intervention integrated cognitive instruction, emotional awareness activities, discussions, video demonstrations, and roleplay simulations, adapted from the Take A Stand framework. Data were collected through pre–post questionnaires measuring knowledge, empathy, and assertive bystander intentions, supported by qualitative observations and student reflections. Results showed substantial improvements across all domains: knowledge increased by 36.4%, empathy by 28.6%, and assertive intentions by 36.3%. Qualitative findings revealed enhanced emotional expression, stronger peer support, and greater willingness to seek help from trusted adults. The novelty of this study lies in its culturally contextualized, participatory psychoeducation model implemented within a semi-urban Indonesian setting. The program demonstrates that brief, SEL-based interventions can effectively enhance children’s cognitive and emotional competencies related to bullying. These finding highlight the importance of early psychological education and suggest that culturally tailored psychoeducation can serve as a scalable approach to fostering safer, more inclusive school environments

Abstract

This community service program aimed to support the activities of Kombel Muga Berkemajuan at Muhammadiyah 3 Junior High School Yogyakarta and to strengthen teacher professionalism, particularly in reflective capacity and classroom innovation. The program was carried out using the Lesson Study for Learning Community (LSLC) approach, emphasizing collaborative planning, classroom implementation, and shared reflection. A qualitative descriptive method was applied, with data obtained through classroom observations, reflective discussions, and documentation analysis. The implementation consisted of three main stages: identifying partner readiness, preparing mentoring activities, and conducting LSLC cycles (plan–do–see). The findings show that the LSLC activities encouraged teachers to engage in more evidence-based reflection when analyzing teaching and learning processes. Teachers also began experimenting with contextual, problem-based, and text-based lesson designs that contributed to richer classroom discussions across Mathematics, Social Studies, and Indonesian Language. Kombel Muga Berkemajuan gradually developed into a more functional professional learning community, with collaboration becoming part of teachers’ routine practice. Challenges observed included limited time, instructional resources, and difficulties in applying differentiated instruction. These challenges indicate the need for continued mentoring and capacity building. Overall, the program highlights the potential of LSLC to support teacher professionalism and strengthen collaborative culture in Muhammadiyah schools.

Abstract

Indonesian language teachers at junior high schools in Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency face challenges in teaching explanatory text writing due to limited use of interactive digital learning media and inadequate integration of technology into pedagogy. This community engagement program aimed to enhance teachers’ competence through training based on the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, with a focus on the Canva platform. The program involved 30 Indonesian language teachers from several junior high schools and was implemented through structured activities, including needs assessment, material delivery, collaborative discussions, hands-on media development, and evaluation using pretest and posttest instruments. The results showed a significant improvement in teacher competence, indicated by a mean score difference of −15.433, a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), and a very large effect size (Cohen’s d = 2.648). These findings confirm that the training effectively improved teachers’ ability to design creative, interactive, and curriculum-aligned digital learning media for teaching explanatory texts. The novelty of this program lies in the contextual integration of the TPACK framework with digital media training oriented toward explanatory writing and local content, supporting the technology-enhanced implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and providing a replicable model for similar teacher training initiatives.

Abstract

Tangkit Baru Village is a major pineapple production center in Jambi, yielding over 728,000 quintals annually. However, this massive production generates significant organic waste from local home industries, which remains largely unmanaged. This community service program aimed to address this environmental challenge by empowering the Women’s Farmers Group (locally known as Kelompok Wanita Tani or KWT) through eco-enzyme technology. The program was implemented in four stages: Survey, Socialization, Technical Training (using a 1:3:10 fermentation ratio), and a three-month Mentoring phase. The results demonstrated a significant impact, with participants' knowledge increasing by 41.1% (from 45.3% to 86.4%). Technical success was high, with 80% of participants successfully producing quality eco-enzymes (pH < 4.0). Furthermore, 90% of participants adopted the liquid for household cleaning, indicating a profound behavioral shift. This program proves that eco-enzyme technology is a feasible, low-cost solution for agro-industrial waste recovery while enhancing community resilience and sustainable waste management practices.
