Abstract

This research aims to determine the professionalism of prospective physical education teachers viewed from eight teaching skills. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with the primary focus of the study being to analyze the professionalism of prospective physical education teachers in terms of eight teaching skills. The population in this study was 83 prospective physical education teachers who attended micro teaching lectures in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. A purposive sampling technique was used for this study. The selected sample had met the established criteria, namely: attending lectures more than 80% or at least 13 meetings, and being willing to be a research sample. Based on these criteria, there were 53 prospective physical education teachers. The data collection technique used a questionnaire consisting of thirty statements. Data was analyzed using percentages with five categories. The results of this study indicate that the teaching skills of prospective physical education teachers are at a good to excellent level, particularly in the areas of providing reinforcement, asking questions, and managing the classroom. However, the aspect of guiding small group discussions still requires special attention in coaching to ensure more equitable learning quality across all teaching skill indicators. It can be concluded that prospective physical education teachers are professional, as seen from the eight teaching skills.

Abstract

Abstract

The use of smartphones, if not properly controlled, will also hurt the population of Papua, especially students who are more prone to smartphone addiction. This study aims to determine the level of smartphone addiction and the relationship between physical activity and physical fitness among students in Papua. The method used is a quantitative correlation analysis design. The sample consisted of 91 university students (73 males and 18 females) selected using a stratified proportional random sampling method. Data collection techniques included the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS), which is a valid and reliable instrument with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.848, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), and the Rockport Test to assess students' physical fitness. The results showed that the level of smartphone addiction was moderate (57.1%), the respondents' level of physical activity was mostly high (61.5%), and their level of physical fitness was mostly good (47.9%). The conclusion showed a significant correlation between the variables with a P value < 0.05. Based on the research findings, it is recommended that students increase their physical activity levels to reduce smartphone use and improve their physical fitness.

Abstract

The rising incidence of filariasis cases necessitates heightened vigilance, particularly given the limited public awareness about this disease. This study aims to explore community knowledge and attitudes regarding filariasis in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua. Utilizing a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, the research population comprised all household heads in Itanggen Village, Wolo District. A total of 34 household heads participated as informants, representing each family unit. Data collection employed structured questionnaires followed by in-depth interviews. Findings revealed that 3 filariasis cases was found, accounting for 38.2% (n=13) of respondents demonstrated good knowledge about filariasis, while 61.8% (n=21) showed inadequate understanding. Regarding preventive attitudes, 55.9% (n=19) exhibited positive attitudes toward filariasis prevention, whereas 44.1% (n=15) displayed less favorable attitudes. However, there was no significant relationship between community knowledge and filariasis case (p value=0.729). Also, there was no significant relationship between community attitude and filariasis incident (p value=0.830). These results highlight critical gaps in filariasis knowledge despite moderately positive preventive attitudes, suggesting the need for targeted health education interventions in this endemic region. The study provides valuable baseline data for public health planning in Papua's filariasis control programs.

The results of the t test analysis (paired sample test) obtained a sig value (2-tailed) = 0.001 0.05. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the training provided has a positive impact on Papuan athletes in terms of increasing knowledge about the application of contract relax as an effort to prevent sports injuries.Salah satu permasalahan yang dialami oleh atlet Papua adalah cedera olahraga yang membatasi atlet dalam menjalankan program latihan dengan optimal.
