Abstract

Although early childhood gross motor development has received considerable attention in previous studies, research specifically examining natural movement-based creative dance as a contextual learning approach remains limited. This study aims to analyze the effect of natural movement-based creative dance on the gross motor development of children aged 5–6 years. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design was employed, involving 30 children selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using gross motor development observation sheets that had been tested for validity and reliability and were analyzed using an independent samples t-test. The results showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.05), with a greater increase in gross motor scores among children who received the natural movement-based creative dance treatment. These findings indicate that dance activities grounded in natural movements are effective in improving children’s balance, coordination, and agility. The study contributes to the strengthening of motor development theory by emphasizing the importance of contextual and meaningful physical activity-based stimulation. It concludes that natural movement-based creative dance is an effective and innovative learning strategy for optimizing early childhood gross motor development. Therefore, early childhood educators are encouraged to integrate this approach into learning activities. The implications of this research include theoretical contributions to the development of movement-based learning and practical recommendations for teachers in designing more creative and contextual activities. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term effects of this approach and its integration with other aspects of child development.

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to ascertain how the Tapanuli bridge game affects the speaking skills of the students at Adhyaksa XXVI Kindergarten in Padang. This study employs a “nonequivalent control group design, a quasi-experimental method, and a quantitative methodology. Twenty-four youngsters were used as research subjects, and they were split into two groups: the experimental class and the control class”. While the control group received traditional instruction, the experimental group received treatment in the form of the Tapanuli bridge game. Speaking ability tests, structured observations, and documentation were used as data gathering methods. The SPSS version 26 software was used to “analyse the data using the t-test (independent sample t-test), homogeneity tests, and normality tests”. The findings indicated that there was a “significant difference between the children's speaking abilities in the experimental class and the control class, with a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05. Therefore, it can be said that the Tapanuli bridge game significantly and favourably enhances children's speaking skills between the ages of five and six. The study's findings show that traditional games can be used as an alternative, effective learning activity to help children who are the study's target improve their speaking abilities. Additionally, this game is enjoyable and significant in helping young children develop their speaking abilities”.

Abstract

Early childhood sexuality education is important to help children learn about their bodies, understand personal boundaries, and develop self-protection skills. However, its implementation still faces obstacles, particularly the limited availability of engaging and developmentally appropriate learning media. This study aims to analyze the effect of the animated video "My Body is Mine" on the introduction of sexuality education to early childhood students at Darul Falah Kindergarten, Padang. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi experimental design (pre-test and post-test control group). The sample consisted of 24 children divided into experimental and control classes. Data were collected through structured observation and analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, as well as independent sample t-tests. The results showed a significant increase in the experimental class, with a post-test average of 24.08 compared to the control class of 21.83. The hypothesis test showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.003 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of the use of animated videos on the introduction of children's sexuality education. This finding suggests that the increase occurred because the animated video presented material in a visual, concrete, and engaging manner, making it easier for children to understand the concepts of the body, personal boundaries, and self-protection. The novelty of this research lies in the use of the contextual animated video "My Body is Mine," designed to suit the characteristics of young children, making it more effective than conventional methods. Therefore, this medium can be an innovative alternative in early childhood sexual education.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve early childhood children's ability to recognize number concepts through the use of Wordwall games. The research was conducted at PAUD Hidara Rama Agung. Based on the observation results, there were still children who experienced difficulties in matching number symbols with the quantity of objects, as well as a lack of interest and involvement in learning activities that tended to be monotonous. This study employed the Classroom Action Research method, which was carried out in two cycles. The research subjects consisted of 12 children in Group A (aged 4–5 years). Data collection techniques were conducted through observation and documentation, while data analysis used descriptive qualitative methods. The results of the study showed an improvement in children's ability to recognize number concepts in each cycle. In Cycle I, the average learning mastery reached approximately 55%, with the indicator of mentioning number sequences achieving 50%, recognizing number symbols 41.6%, and matching the number of objects with numbers 33.3%. In Cycle II, there was a significant improvement, where the indicator of mentioning number sequences reached 100%, recognizing number symbols reached 91.67%, and matching the number of objects with numbers reached 83.33%. Therefore, the use of Wordwall interactive games proved to be effective in improving early childhood children's ability to recognize number concepts and can serve as an alternative innovative learning medium to increase children's interest in learning.
