This study aims to identify the forms of conflict between the pesantren and the community, analyze the conflict management strategies applied, and examine the outcomes of their implementation at Al-Istiqomah Islamic Boarding School. The research employed a qualitative approach with a field research design. The research subjects included the pesantren leader, foundation administrators, pesantren managers, and members of the surrounding community. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using an interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that conflicts included communication misunderstandings, issues related to facility development, and students’ activities in the community. Conflict management was carried out through stages of problem identification, conflict analysis, approach determination, strategy implementation, and continuous evaluation. The implementation of conflict management had positive impacts on the smooth development of facilities and infrastructure, strengthened partnerships between the pesantren and the community, adjustments to internal regulations, and improvements in the management of students’ activities. Abstract

This study aims to examine the dominance of the Scholar Academic ideology in the pesantren curriculum through the perspective of Michael Schiro. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using library research. The research data were obtained from primary and secondary literature discussing curriculum ideology, pesantren education, kitab kuning, the authority of kiai, learning methods, and santri evaluation. Data were collected through the tracing, selection, and critical review of relevant scholarly sources. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using directed qualitative content analysis by referring to Schiro’s four categories of curriculum ideology, namely Scholar Academic, Social Efficiency, Learner Centered, and Social Reconstruction. The findings indicate that the pesantren curriculum has a strong tendency toward Scholar Academic. This tendency is reflected in the central position of kitab kuning, the transmission of classical religious knowledge, the scholarly authority of kiai, and an evaluation system based on textual mastery. Nevertheless, this dominance is not rigid, as it still contains humanistic values through the formation of adab, exemplary conduct, khidmah, and santri mentoring. This study concludes that Scholar Academic Pesantren represents a distinctive curriculum orientation that integrates mastery of knowledge, continuity of tradition, and the humanization of santri.

Abstract

The research aims to explore the myth of coffee as a loyal friend of cigarettes from the theological perspective of Indonesian Islam, using a descriptive qualitative approach and inductive analysis. The research results concluded; that theologically in Islamic Nusantara, drinking coffee and smoking are not prohibited in Islam. However, this recommendation is only for people who by drinking coffee and cigarettes will get a lot of inspiration. Through smoking and drinking coffee, the distance between the santri and the abangan (general public) can be shortened. The most important aspect of coffee and cigarette law is not the ijtihad regarding halal, haram and makruh, but the implications of the ijtihad inviting Muslims to appreciate and respect other, different cultures. Research implications: the importance of understanding theology in its essence, not just its external aspects. The study invites further, more in-depth research in more specific areas.
