Abstract

Developing critical skills of fifth-grade elementary school students in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) is crucial for 21st-century education, and STEAM offers a contextual approach to address the lack of higher-order skills in current practice. This study aims to: (1) identify the need to develop a STEAM-based IPAS teaching module, (2) design a STEAM-based IPAS teaching module that suits the characteristics of elementary school students, and (3) produce an initial product of the teaching module that is validated by experts. This study uses the R&D (Research and Development) model from Borg and Gall which is simplified into three stages by Sukmadinata, namely preliminary study, model development, and model testing. This article focuses on the preliminary study and initial product development of the module. Data were obtained through literature studies, interviews, observations and document analysis. The development results produced a STEAM-based IPAS module design which was then validated by material experts, media experts, and linguists. The validation results indicate that the module meets the feasibility for use in fifth-grade elementary school IPAS learning. The developed module is ready for use in a limited trial phase in further research.

Abstract

Current education demands students to have the ability to solve problems or problem-solving during learning activities, especially in certain subjects such as mathematics. This study aims to determine the results of the initial problem-solving abilities of 6th grade students in mathematics at SD Negeri 1 Sukorejo. This research method uses quantitative descriptive. Data collection was carried out through interviews with homeroom teachers, observations of students and teachers during learning activities, and questionnaires for students. Respondents in this study were homeroom teachers and 6th grade students. The results of data analysis obtained from interviews with homeroom teachers indicate that the mathematics learning process is not always optimal due to the lack of learning tools that can support students' problem-solving abilities. This is supported by the results of observations of learning activities in the classroom, which show that teachers have not yet maximized varied learning models to improve the problem-solving abilities of 6th grade students. The results of the questionnaire on students' problem-solving abilities also show that many are still in the low category in several aspects such as solution determination, implementation, and reflection evaluation. Based on the results of the data obtained, it can be concluded that the problem-solving abilities of 6th grade students at SD Negeri 1 Sukorejo in mathematics are still low.

Abstract

The problem of differentiated learning in improving reading ability is increasingly complex along with the diversity of student needs and the development of educational technology. Although there has been a lot of research in this field, there has been no biliometric study that systematically maps the development of the research. This study aims to analyze the trends and developments of differentiated learning research in the context of improving reading ability through a bibliometric approach. The research method used bibliometric analysis of 1,459 documents from the Scopus database for the 2014-2024 period, including analysis of publication trends, collaboration patterns, and mapping research topics using VOSviewer. The results of the study revealed three main findings: (1) there was a significant increase in the number of publications, especially after 2019, reaching more than 250 publications in 2024; (2) the collaboration pattern shows the dominance of institutions from the United States (400 publications), followed by China and Germany (125 publications each); (3) Keyword co- occurrence analysis reveals the evolution of research focus from conventional approaches to technology integration and learning innovation, with "differentiated instruction" as the central node that is connected to various aspects of reading learning. The implications of this research lie in understanding research trends and patterns that can help educators develop more effective differentiated learning approaches.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and the quality of elementary school teaching in the Ki Hajar Dewantoro Cluster, Wonogiri. CPD focuses on training programs and Teacher Working Groups (KKG). A quantitative method with a cross-sectional correlational design was employed. The sample consisted of 58 teachers from six schools selected through total sampling. Instruments included questionnaires on training participation, KKG engagement, and teaching quality adapted from standardized measures. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation. The results indicate a significant positive correlation between training participation and teaching quality (r = 0.42; p < 0.01), while KKG engagement shows a stronger correlation (r = 0.58; p < 0.01). These findings highlight the importance of strengthening training programs and KKG activities as key strategies to improve the quality of elementary school teaching.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the OCAR (Orientation, Challenge, Apply, Review) learning model on the ability to write environmental poetry of fifth-grade elementary school students. The method used is an experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes, namely the experimental class using the OCAR learning model and the control class using the CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) learning model. Data were collected through poetry writing tests and observations of the implementation of learning. The results showed that there was a significant increase in poetry writing ability in the experimental class compared to the control class. The average posttest score of the experimental class reached 82.15, while the control class was 72.52. The t-test produced a t-value of 3.650 > t-table 2.007, which means there is a significant difference between the two classes. The increase in students' abilities is seen in the indicators of message, diction, style, typography, and title. However, the theme indicator experienced a decline. These findings indicate that the OCAR learning model is effective in improving poetry writing skills while forming students' environmental awareness.
