Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical connection ability of junior high school students based on their level of learning independence, which is divided into high, medium, and low learning independence. The type of research applied is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The research was conducted in class VIII-A UPT SMP Negeri 17 Gresik and focused on three students as research subjects. One subject represents a different level of learning independence, namely: The instruments used include a learning independence questionnaire for subject selection, a mathematical connection ability test to determine students' abilities in writing, and interviews to clarify data from test results as well as additional information. The mathematical connection ability test was conducted twice to ensure accuracy. Data collected at different times were compared using the time triangulation method. Data analysis concluded that: (1) students with a high level of learning independence are able to fulfill all indicators of mathematical connection, (2) students with a moderate level of learning independence can fulfill all indicators of mathematical connection, although the subject's work on the second indicator question is incomplete and (3) students with a low level of learning independence can fulfill one of the three indicators of mathematical connection.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the critical thinking abilities of students at SMP Negeri 1 Paciran in solving PISA type questions when viewed from the differences in learning styles. This type of research is descriptive by referring to four indicators of critical thinking skills, namely Interpretation, Analysis, Evaluation and Inference. The subjects involved in this research were 4 male students in class IX A and IX B who had different learning styles. These learning styles include visual, auditory, read/write, and kinesthetic. Data collection was carried out using a learning style questionnaire and a critical thinking ability test adapted from PISA type questions. The results of this research show that students with a visual learning style do not write down their work and answers in detail. Students with an auditory learning style find it easier to explain their work and answers orally. Students with a read/write learning style write down their work and answers in detail even though they need to read the questions more than once to understand. Students with a kinesthetic learning style understand less about the questions and make more physical movements when interviewed by researchers.

Abstract

Before deciding on a successful learning style to use in the classroom, teachers must first determine the fundamental features of their students. A teacher must be able to acknowledge the effectiveness of learning. During the learning process, teachers and students communicate with one another. Many educators still struggle to identify their students, which hinders the state of the learning process today. The learning process will be impacted by the student's preferred learning style, so the teacher needs to be aware of it. The teacher must create a lesson using the different learning preferences of each student in the class before the learning process can begin. It is crucial to work on improving instructor comprehension of this kind of student identification. A qualitative research methodology is the case study methodology. Peneliti mengandalkan masukan dari guru dan siswa. Penggunaan identifikasi ini mendorong pembelajaran yang efisien. Menurut temuan survei, mayoritas siswa kelas lebih menyukai pembelajaran auditori.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the learning trajectory of problem-based learning with literacy and numeracy reinforcement. This study was conducted at Junior High School and involved 32 subjects from class VIII. This study employed Gravemeijer and Cobb's design research comprising three stages: preparing the experiment of hypothetical learning trajectory (HLT), designing the experiment by implementing the designed HLT-based learning, and conducting retrospective analysis by comparing HLT with the implemented learning. The learning trajectory in this study consisted of three components: learning objectives, a series of tasks and learning activities, and students' techniques to think and learn. This research was conducted based on lesson study activities to create a lesson study for the learning community. Design research stages corresponded to lesson study stages and included studying curriculum, formulating goals and plans, conducting research lessons, and reflecting the lesson. This study has revealed that students' actual learning trajectory has four levels of modeling: situational, referential, general, and formal levels. At the situational level, non-mathematical literacy becomes the initial reference for students to collaborate and communicate with others; thus, mathematical concepts are created. The referential level leads students to represent real problems in real mathematical concepts.  The representation process aims to understand the concept in different situations. Finally, the students analogize the acquired understanding and bring it to the formal level to get a full understanding of the concept of one point position to another in Cartesian coordinates.

Abstract

This study evaluates the benefits of portfolio diversification by examining the relationship between the returns of Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO) and Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk (ICBP) using Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT). Daily closing prices from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024, were analyzed. Daily returns were calculated and assessed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and mean–variance optimization to construct the efficient frontier and identify the optimal allocation. The results show ICBP offers a lower return (6.25%) and lower risk (1.92), while SIDO provides a higher return (7.35%) with slightly higher risk (1.97). Portfolio optimization suggests a 50/50 allocation yields the most balanced outcome, minimizing risk (1.46) while maintaining a solid return (6.80%). The low correlation (0.13) between the two stocks highlights significant diversification benefits. Practical implications include providing Shariah-compliant investors with empirical guidance to build efficient portfolios that balance return and risk. The study is limited by its use of only two stocks and a one-year observation period, which may affect the generalizability of results to broader market conditions. Abstract

This survey was carried out to learn about the initiatives used to raise student morale in the course of akhlakul karimah. Researchers used qualitative methods with a phenomenological approach. By using this method, researchers obtained the results of interviews about their efforts to improve student morals. The researcher selected the teacher contact for this study. From the research we conducted, it is clear that any effort an educator or teacher can make to improve student morals is to set a good example, starting with the teacher and emulating by students. Efforts made by the teacher include giving lessons on reading the Qur'an and memorizing Juz 30, providing memorization related to dhuha prayers, carrying out congregational prayers, and instilling good morals in their students. This effort is made to ensure that students have good morals. The result of these efforts is that around 98% of students already reflect good morals. Efforts to improve student morals have been successful, and it can be said that many students already have good morals. However, because of the environment in which students live, this attitude does not rub off on some students.
