Abstract

The issues addressed in this research are: (1) What prehistoric caves and rock shelters are present in Padalere Utama Village, Wiwirano District, North Konawe Regency? (2) What are the characteristics of the prehistoric caves and rock shelters in Padalere Utama Village, Wiwirano District, North Konawe Regency? This study employs inductive reasoning, where specific observations are generalized into broader conclusions. Data collection techniques used in this research include library research, field data (observation), and interviews. Additionally, data analysis techniques applied are morphological analysis and contextual analysis. Based on the research findings, there are approximately 14 caves and 2 rock shelters in Padalere Utama Village, each with the potential for containing archaeological remains. Some of the archaeological remains that can be found include mollusks, bones, pottery, stone tools, ceramics, and rock art. Among the various caves and rock shelters discovered, mollusk remains dominate. Furthermore, the characteristics of the caves and rock shelters can be observed through their morphological conditions, environmental settings, and the state of the archaeological remains. The distribution of prehistoric caves and rock shelters in Padalere Utama Village, supported by an environment conducive to the life of prehistoric humans, indicates the presence of culture, civilization, and human migration during that period.

Abstract

This research investigated the forms of conservation in ancient manuscript collections and the obstacles faced in conservation activities in ancient manuscript collections. The method used was qualitative with descriptive analitic model. Data collection in this research used documentation, observation and interviews .The research results show that forms of conservation in ancient manuscript collections in Southeast Sulawesi museums begin with carrying out periodic maintenance fumigation as needed using Silica Gel material. Fumigation is carried out 1 to 2 times a year. However, in this process there are several obstacles, namely, human resources in carrying out conservation of collections and ancient manuscripts so that it can only be done using silica gel, lack of facilities and infrastructure such as laboratories that are inadequate for forms of conservation of ancient manuscript collections.

Abstract

The Lakantobhe rock-shelter site is one of the rock-shelter that has various rock arts. The site is located in Liangkabori village, Lohia sub-district, Southeast Sulawesi. Muna Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. This research investigated the form of images and variations in the form of rock art in the Lakantobhe rock-shelter site. The method used was data collection, data verifivication, documenting data and then data analysis. The last was data interpretation. The results of the research conducted, the Lakantobhe rock-shelter site has 46 panels with the number of images found, namely 133 images. The findings of these images have different shapes. These forms include human forms with a total of 4 variants, human and animal forms with a total of 4 variants, animal forms with a total of 6 variants, geometric with a total of 7 variants and abstract forms with a total of 35 images.

Abstract

This study discusses the analysis of the form of soronga damage at the Coffin Cave site in Matahori Village, Padangguni District, Konawe Regency. In researching the problem of the forms of Soronga damage and how to deal with weathering and Soronga damage to the Coffin Cave site in Matahori Village, Padangguni District, Konawe Regency. By using a descriptive analysis approach using inductive reasoning forms. Collecting data in this study by conducting literature studies, observations, documentation and interviews and using the form of analysis that is applied is morphological analysis. The results of the study showed that the most dominant forms of damage encountered were biological weathering, influenced by weathering factors such as mosses, termites, fungi and human damage, namely antiquarians who plundered archaeological remains at the coffin cave site. Efforts to counteract the damage to Soronga include providing physical protection, such as conservation efforts, linking the role of the government in equitable upgrading, counseling related to cultural heritage objects, institutional development of Matahori village, and installing information boards on the coffin cave site.

Abstract

The community service activity entitled, "Training in making local woven motifs based on textile painting techniques" was held on May, 2025. This activity was the result of a collaboration between the community service team and the Pondok Suraya Creative Center Studio which focuses on developing artistic creativity based on local culture. The main objective of this activity was to increase the knowledge and skills of studio members in understanding and applying the richness of typical Southeast Sulawesi woven motifs into alternative media, namely textile painting. The method used was community education through presentation of community service and training materials. This activity demonstrates the participants' ability to re-explain the meaning and types of Southeast Sulawesi woven motifs, as well as the accuracy in applying motifs to textile paintings. This achievement is seen as important as part of cultural preservation as well as a strategy for empowering creative communities.

Abstract

This study investigated the compensation strategies which were used by competent and poor speakers to avoid communication gap in speaking activities. This study used descriptive quantitative desaign. The use of descriptive method because of this study was not searching about compararison or making prediction, but only finding out about mostly strategies used either competent or poor speakers in developing their speaking activities to avoid communication gap. Descriptive research is also chosen because it explores and catches social situation particularly in the class wholisticly, widely and deeply. Data collection used an observation sheet and a questionnaire. Population of this study was 83 students categorized as competent and poor speakers of semester 4 at English Study Program in one of the universities in Kendari. The findings of this study showed that the strategy which dominant used by either competent speakers or poor speakers as their group tendencies that was selecting the topic with the same overall average score of 4.0; competent speakers mostly used selecting the topic with the overall average of 4.0, adjusting or approximating the message with the overall average of 3.6 and using mime or gesture with the overall average of 3.5; poor speakers also mostly used selecting the topic with the overall average of 4.0 and coining word of 3.5. Competent speakers much more used compensation strategies than poor speakers. Thus, its major implication for pedagogy is that compensation strategies are extremely useful as guidance to avoid communication gap in speaking activities

Abstract

Kegiatan observasi merupakan salah satu teknik yang penting dalam melakukan penelitian. Kesalahan melakukan observasi akan berdampak pada kesalahan hasil penelitian. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengatahui manfaat yang diperoleh peserta pelatihan observasi sampah dapur setelah mengikuti pelatihan. Metode yang direalisasikan dalam kegatan ini adalah pelatihan obervasi dan praktik observasi dengan objek sampah dapur. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian menunjukan banyak manfaat yang diperoleh peserta kegiatan seperti memperoleh banyak pengetahuan dan ilmu baru tentang tata cara observasi, menjaga kebersihan lingkungan dengan tidak membuang sampah di sembarang tempat, mampu mengidentifikasi sampah dapur, dan mampu mengkasifikasikan jenis sampah dapur. Pelatihan observasi pada sampah dapur dapat membuka cakrawala berfikit peserta untuk mengidentifkasi objek yang diobservasi, pengenalan terhadap realitas masyarakat dan ide baru untuk solusi masalah masyarakat, khususnya pada masalah sampah dapur.

Abstract

Multiculturalism can generally affect cultural degradation and serve as a basis forconflict. However, the Balinese tribe in Southeast Sulawesi is different. This research aims to discuss the existence of transmigrants in Jati Bali Village, West Ranometo Subdistrict, South Konawe Regency, and the existence of the Balinese amidmulticulturalism in Southeast Sulawesi society. Semiotic, existential, and symbolicinteractionism theories were used to reveal the problems. The data were analyzed using a critical approach with a qualitative descriptive method. The results showed that the Balinese were able to adapt, which was characterized by social interactions such as religious, socially oriented, food security-oriented, and security and order oriented.To maintain the existence of the Balinese, they preserveBalinese customs and traditions, as evidenced by the Narayanan construction, the Balinese houses architecture, and the Ogoh-ogoh procession.

Abstract

The aim of this community service is to give information of bunker as historical sites from World War II to the community around Amoito Siama Village, Ranomeeto District, South Konawe Regency through socialization. This activity managed to raising awareness and knowledge in the community about the importance of preserving and conserving historical sites in the village of Amoito Siama. This Community service used a socialization method through material presentations and interactive discussion with the community of Amoito Siama. The socialization material includes the history and important values of bunker as archaeological remains from World War II, together with Amoito Siama community. The result of this activity showed that the enthusiasm and increase the understanding and awareness of the community at Amoito Siama Village related to the urgency of preserving and maintaining the bunker, which is one of the Archaeological sites. In addition, this activity can also encourage activity community participation in effort to preserve the Archaeological remains at Amoito Siama Village.

Abstract

A digital-based tourism promotion strategy is a way to increase tourist visiting to Archaeological Sites at Leleka Village, Wolasi District, South Konawe Regency. This service community has objective to develop knowledge about enhancing digital-based tourism promotion of Archaeological remains. This community service activity uses an educational method. The primary target group is the community in Leleka Village, Wolasi District, South Konawe Regency, who are directly or indirectly involved in the management and development of the archaeological site for tourism destination, namely Kumapo Cave. The result indicates that this digital-based promotion strategy affects many tourists visiting by reason of there are many Archaeological cave sites with historical values and significant potential cultural tourism. The implication of this community service gives to the local society to care and protect their tangible cultural heritage and promote to the social media or in digital platform.
