Abstract

The dialogue of Prophet Ibrahim to his father in QS Maryam: 42-45 not only contains the message of da'wah tawhid, but also reflects a very subtle and contextual communication strategy. This phenomenon is interesting to study academically because it shows that the Qur'an forms a rich pattern of social communication. This study aims to examine the form of language variation and speech acts in the dialog with a sociolinguistic approach. This qualitative research uses the method of literature study and thematic analysis of relevant verses, supported by the theory of language variation (idiolect, dialect, chronolect, sociolect) and the theory of speech acts of Austin and Searle. The results show that Prophet Ibrahim's language style reflects the depth of wisdom and subtlety of character in preaching to the closest people. The speech acts used are persuasive and contemplative, which linguistically indicates an attempt to encourage critical thinking and self-awareness in the interlocutor. In addition, significant differences were found between classical Arabic used in the Qur'ān and modern Arabic, especially in aspects of morphology and sentence structure, reflecting chronolectal variation. This study recommends expanding the linguistic approach in Qur'anic studies to understand the dynamics of da'wah communication more contextually and deeply. The significant contribution of this study lies in its ability to bridge the linguistic approach with exegetical analysis, providing a holistic understanding of da'wah communication strategies in a rich Qur'anic context.

Abstract

This research attempts to explore the use of Arabic authentic texts in teaching reading skills communicatively in the classroom and its impact on developing reading skills and motivating students to learn to read. To address this issue, quantitative research was conducted on 34 students from the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the State Islamic University of Tulungagung. The participants were divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group using four authentic Arabic texts that were taken from online newspapers with appropriate readability. It was made to measure before and after reading using the original Arabic texts. Independent samples of the t-test and the group acquisition method in the pre- and post-test revealed that the use of authentic reading texts has a positive effect on the reading comprehension of second-stage students. From the pre-test to the post-test, there was a significant difference (0.001 < 0.05) before and after the implementation of the authentic reading texts. Also, the authentic texts affected students' motivation to read. Through observation and interview, it is obtained that the proper use that is built in the light of the authentic Arabic texts has a positive effect on the students’ motivation to read, in that the students have the desire to read the texts more than they were, because they are interested in texts that describe the life and real culture from the learned language.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effectiveness of using teaching materials of reading to improve students’ reading skills at the Institute for Islamic Studies Ma’arif Nahdlatul Ulama (IAIMNU) in Metro Lampung. This research used the comparative quantitative method. For data analysis, the researchers used descriptive statistical analysis to produce the effectiveness of teaching materials for reading skills with a criterion based on descriptive perception in the degree to test the responses in the questionnaire scale. T-test using SPSS with Paired Sample Test was used to find out the differences between the results of before and after the experiment. Based on the statistical analysis, the value of experimental learning model was 14.462.The result of significance was Sig. (2-tailed) 000. The pre-test of academic achievement in reading - the post-test of academic achievement of reading was 8.295. The result of significance was Sig. (2-tailed) 000.The result of this research indicated that Hₒ was not acceptable, and H1was acceptable. The difference in the academic achievement of reading between before and after the experiment was indicative. Hence, the improvement of reading ability occurred after using reading materials designed based on David A. Kolb's experiential learning model.

Abstract

The integration of graphic design skills in the curriculum of the Arabic Language and Literature (BSA) Study Program is one of the strategic steps in preparing graduates who are able to compete in the era of globalisation and digitalisation. This study aims to explore these challenges and identify innovative strategies applied by lecturers in teaching graphic design in BSA. Using a qualitative approach based on phenomenology, data was collected through interviews with lecturers teaching Graphic Design courses. The data were analysed and combined with relevant academic literature to provide a theoretical foundation on multidisciplinary approaches in higher education. The results showed that the main challenges in teaching graphic design in BSA study programme include limited technical competence of lecturers, students' skill gaps in technology, and limited course duration. To overcome these challenges, lecturers adopt strategies such as material condensation, project-based learning, differentiated instruction approaches, and the use of software that is easier for students to access and understand. Lecturers also encourage collaboration through group projects, regular monitoring, and evaluation that emphasises process as well as outcomes.

Abstract

Learning Sharfi science is a fundamental element in mastering Arabic, but conventional methods are often considered monotonous and ineffective, especially for Generation Z who are familiar with technology. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of digital platforms in learning Sharfi science. With a quantitative survey approach, 22 students of Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar State Islamic University were involved as respondents. Data was collected through a digital-based questionnaire designed to measure students’ perception of the effectiveness of using digital platforms in learning. The results of the study showed that 90% of respondents felt easy in understanding Sharfi’s material through digital media. In addition, 57% of them routinely use digital platforms in the learning process. These findings confirm that digitization of learning can increase student engagement as well as the effectiveness of the learning process. Popular platforms like Canva and YouTube have proven to be able to present learning concepts in a more interactive and engaging way. This study concludes that the use of digital technology not only makes learning more dynamic, but also relevant to the needs of the current generation. This finding has important implications for the further development of digital teaching materials to support Sharfi learning that is more effective and engaging. This study recommends increasing innovation in the provision of technology-based learning materials to optimize the potential of digitalization in the field of Arabic language education.

Abstract

Fossilization is one of the main problems in learning Arabic as a foreign language. It happens when phonological, lexical, and grammatical errors stay in the learner's language even after many corrections. At the same time, the use of digital learning is growing, but its direct potential to prevent fossilization has not been fully explained. This study aims to analyze the role of digital learning strategies in preventing fossilization through a Systematic Literature Review of 30 selected publications from 2015 to 2024. The results show three main trends. The first is the use of LMS and e learning platforms. The second is the integration of artificial intelligence-based tools, such as translanguaging chatbots. The third is the readiness of institutional policies. Further analysis reveals that digital learning can help prevent fossilization through automatic feedback that enhances noticing, adaptive practice that breaks repeated error patterns, and learning environments that provide rich input. The main contribution of this study is the mapping of the direct relationship between digital features such as automatic correction, learning analytics, and AI-based translanguaging and the cognitive mechanisms that support the restructuring of the learner's interlanguage. These findings give a conceptual basis for teachers and institutions to design digital Arabic learning that is more effective and more responsive to linguistic errors.
